‘Metro: Last Light’ DLC Incoming, First Pack Available In June

Oh, you’re still here? You’re not a burning, irradiated husk right now? Good for you. In case you haven’t heard already, Metro: Last Light is like, really, really good. If you’ve beaten the game and find yourself itching — as in craving, not the itch you feel as the nuclear radiation seeps itself deep down into your bones, which it’s almost definitely doing right now — to return to the metro, soon, you’ll be able to.

4A Games is working on four A-quality (see what I did there? Professional writer here, no big deal) DLC packs, starting with the Faction pack next month. Deets after the break.

This ‘Metro: Last Light’ Launch Trailer Has A Mutant Bear

Did you hear? Metro: Last Light is out right now. If you’re not in your fallout bunker yet, it’s too late. I’d say you have just about the perfect amount of time to watch this launch trailer before you’re vaporized like that scene in Terminator 2 when the bombs drop and faces start melting. The good news is, the time it takes for a face to melt varies from person to person, so you might have enough life left in you to read my review.

I’d go on, but the Bloody Disgusting fallout shelter feels a little warm — I think TJ messed with the thermometer again — and I refuse to listen to the screams of my fellow man as each and every one of you gets turned into smoldering, crispy husks in a room that isn’t at exactly 70 degrees.

‘Metro: Last Light’ Review: Seek Shelter

In the irradiated wasteland that is the world of Metro: Last Light, your chances of getting your milk money stolen by a prostitute are about as good as your being eaten alive by one of the mutated beasts that wander about the surface as well as the labyrinthine tunnels below.

Metro 2033 may very well be one of the most underrated and, sadly, overlooked games of this generation. It’s too bad, because it excelled in areas that many other first person shooters really don’t. Its story was engrossing, it oozed atmosphere, and it had a beautifully realized world brimming with the little details that make good games great. With Last Light, developer 4A Games has decided they’re going to take it all to the next level — without the aid of a tacked on multiplayer, I might add. Let’s find out if they were successful in this endeavor.

‘Saints Row IV’ May Cause Your Head To Explode

I once saw a man’s head explode. True story.

You too can see a man’s head, or rather, his entire body, explode in this new gameplay demo for Saints Row IV. You can also see mech fights, Crackdown-esque super-people doing super cool things, witness the dangers of Dubstep, and so much more. Let’s allow those dull corners of the Internet to discuss how big GTA V’s world is, in the meantime we’ll be freezing cars so we can play People Hockey.

Find Redemption In This New ‘Metro: Last Light’ Trailer

Every time I see something new from Metro: Last Light my excitement for it doubles. As a fan of the hugely underappreciated post-apocalyptic gem that was 2033, I’m very much looking forward to seeing what 4A Games does with the sequel. It looks like it will bring more of what was so great about the original — a creepy atmosphere, beautiful environments, an arsenal brimming with cool guns, monsters, mutants, ghosts (please bring back the shadow people, those were terrifying), and so much more.

If you’re as pumped as I am for Last Light, check out this incredible new Redemption trailer.

The ‘Metro Last Light’ Survival Guide Concludes With A Look At Your Arsenal

Remember people, in an irradiated, post-apocalyptic environment, good mask management is your friend. Now say it with me, “My mask is my friend,” “my mask is my friend…” Metro: Last Light’s epic trilogy of survival guide featurettes concludes today with a look at your arsenal and equipment, including your gas mask — an important feature in 2033 — wrist watch, flashlight and, of course, your guns. The shooting in the original game wasn’t great, but it sounds like significant effort is being invested into remedying that with Last Light.

Take A Vacation With ‘Dead Island: Riptide,’ Available Now

Are you ready to get toasted on a tropical island resort, brimming with energy drinks and fiber bars that have mystical healing powers?! Does a mildly disappointed review from Adam Dodd — voted most likely to write really awesome reviews for Bloody Disgusting by his graduating class — get you pumped for the bloody mayhem waiting for you in Dead Island: Riptide? If you answered any of those questions with a triumphant “yes!” then I’d say you’re just about ready for Dead Island: Riptide, available this very second for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

In related news, despite apologizing for it, Deep Silver is totally still selling that awful idea known as the Zombie Bait Edition in the UK. I’d say about 99% of you disagreed with my opinion that it’s gross and wildly inappropriate, but that’s okay because we all have opinions and some of us are more vocal with them then others. Such is the beauty of the Internet!

‘Dead Island: Riptide’ Review: An Extended Vacation

I really enjoyed the original Dead Island. It wasn’t without its flaws, but the four-player co-op, RPG elements, and buckets of gore and viscera that only the zombie genre can deliver more than made up for many of the small problems I had with it. For the bevy of zombie games we’ve seen over the last couple years, none quite deliver the multiplayer sandbox thrills that this series provides.

With Dead Island: Riptide, Techland isn’t looking to push the envelope. This is decidedly more of the same, and while that can most definitely be a good thing for fans of the first game, it also means if you didn’t enjoy the rough-around-the-edges foundation of the original, there’s really nothing new here to lure you in.

The Lessons Continue In The Second Entry In ‘Metro Last Light’s’ Ranger Survival Guide

Thought that first survival guide was all you would need to survive in thee post-apocalyptic wasteland of Metro Last Light? That was only the beginning, there’s still so much more left to learn before you’re truly ready.

The second entry in Last Light’s Ranger Survival Guide shifts the focus to the enemies that inhabit this dangerous wasteland — human and otherwise — and the tactics you’ll need to use to defeat them.

Here’s A Spoiler Free List Of ‘Dead Island Riptide’ Achievements

The achievements for Dead Island Riptide have been made available online. Nothing outside the norm here, just your average collection of “kill x amount of enemies,” “reach level x,” and “find x amount of collectibles.” Some are a little more intriguing — I’d very much like to know who these mysterious twins are. Check out the list after the break, minus the 13 secret cheevos that almost definitely have spoilers.

[Premature Evaluation] ‘Dead Island Riptide’

If you’re aching for more cooperative zombie pummeling action, the Dead Island series has you covered. The first game might not have lived up to many fans’ expectations after seeing that heart-wrenching trailer, but it was still an incredibly fun post-apocalyptic RPG. Riptide promises more of what we loved about the first game, along with tweaks to the multiplayer and new features like a new playable character, dynamic weather system, flooding, and Left 4 Dead style crescendo moments.

What do TJ and I think about the next entry in the Dead Island series? Read on and find out!

Exploration Is Key In ‘Dead Island Riptide’

I hope you’ve been keeping your machetes sharp and your blunt instruments… blunt, because Dead Island Riptide is releasing in a month. Executive producer Sebastian Reichert had a few things to say about the upcoming game, including what he feels will impress players the most. It’s not the boat, dynamic weather system, or Left 4 Dead style crescendo moments — he’s actually most excited about the level design.

“The way that the exploration of the island works will be what keeps people pushing forward. When you visit a point the first time, the way back feels different because of the level design.” Reichert said. The sense of exploration, which was definitely present in the first game, will be enhanced by the weather and flooding.

Dead Island Riptide launches on the PS3, PC and Xbox 360 on April 23. If you missed it, I recommend watching the new trailer that released yesterday.

The Horrors Have Only Just Begun In This New ‘Dead Island Riptide’ Trailer

I’m not expecting anything revolutionary with the upcoming pseudo-sequel Dead Island Riptide — all I need is an electrified machete, a horde of zombies, and a few friends to mow them down with. That’s not to say I don’t have high hopes for it. There are many ways Techland can improve their DLC support, so it’s not quite as abysmal as the original game’s DLC, and there are even a few pages I think they can take from Far Cry 3′s book. Check out a brand new “They thought wrong” trailer, after the jump.

The Future Is Bleak In This New ‘Metro: Last Light’ Trailer

Back in January, Metro: Last Light was picked up by Koch Media, parent company to Dead Island publisher Deep Silver. There are only a few short months keeping us away from the game, and I’m finding it increasingly difficult to wait.

As its name would imply, the future is decidedly grim. Metro 2033 wasn’t a very cheery game, but its sequel looks to be cranking up the depressing factor a bit more. It’s fitting, seeing as this is a post-apocalyptic game where most of humanity has been wiped out and what’s left is slowly dying underground. Even still, watching this makes me want to take a bubble bath as I listen to Carly Rae Jepsen.

Dust Off Your Dildo Bats, ‘Saints Row IV’ Is Coming In August

If I had to choose between going bowling with my cousin in Grand Theft Auto or gimp-drawn carriage chases in Saints Row, I’m going to go with the latter. The third game redefined ‘over-the-top’, and if the plot of Saints Row IV is any indication, that trend is only going to continue with the fourth entry. Basically, you become the new president of the United States right before an alien invasion that sends you to a virtual version of Steelport –the city the third game took place in — where you’re tasked with beating down the alien scum and saving the world. Feast your eyes on the pure, undiluted crazy that is the game’s announcement trailer, after the jump.

Start Stocking Clean Water And Ammunition, ‘Metro: Last Light’ Arrives In May

Artyom was set to resume his post-apocalyptic journey this month, but that was before Metro: Last Light was delayed and its publisher THQ went under. It didn’t go without a home for very long, as it was purchased by Dead Island publisher Deep Silver last month for a cool $5.8MM. Now, Artyom will be returning on May 14th in the States and everywhere else on May 17th. The additional development time will go toward giving it some extra polish and optimization.

I Hope You’re Sitting Down, Because Deep Silver Just Announced That ‘Dead Island’ Has Passed Five Million Sold

That’s right, you read that headline correctly. Techland and Deep Silver’s post-apocalyptic zombie butt-whooping game Dead Island has sold over five million units at retail and through digital distribution. To put that in perspective, that’s more than the combined sales of both games in the similarly themed Dead Rising franchise. That’s very impressive, especially for a new IP. Dead Island was flawed, especially when it came to making good on the promise to bring us an emotional, story-driven experience, but it was also damn fun. It’s pseudo-sequel, Dead Island: Riptide, releases on April 23.

Deep Silver Reveals ‘Dead Island Riptide’ Rigor Mortis Edition And Fan-Sourced Contents

You’ll Be Able To Import Your Character Into ‘Dead Island: Riptide’ When It Releases Next Year

Publisher Deep Silver has finally unveiled Dead Island: Riptide after their little tease back in June. Much of it is still under wraps, but it looks like fans of the original game will have plenty to love here, as much like its predecessor, Riptide will take place on an island–near the location the first game was set in–and will let you bring over your character(s) from Dead Island into the spin-off. Deep Silver is adamant this is not a sequel, which could mean the mysterious Dead World trademark they filed last November could be the “real” sequel. Either way, we’re getting more Dead Island next year when the game ships for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. Head past the break for more info and some screenshots.

Deep Silver Is Considering Its Options For Dead Island 2

Earlier this week a rumor surfaced that Deep Silver was planning on handing over development of the all but confirmed Dead Island 2 to a new studio. The first game was developed by Techland, and while they certainly did an admirable job, Dead Island didn’t quite live up to the expectations set by its fantastic debut trailer. The game still sold remarkably well, shipping over 3 million units so far, but much of that undoubtedly came from all the buzz that trailer received. With Dead Island 2, Deep Silver could be taking the same approach Konami and Capcom use with their Silent Hill and Resident Evil franchises respectively, by giving the game to another studio.
