TV: Morris Chestnut And Sarah Paulson Sign On For “American Horror Story”

Two bits of casting news on “American Horror Story” today.

First up? Sarah Paulson (“Serenity”, Martha Marcy May Marlene). She’s always been a good actress beset by a lack of exposure and I’m glad that seems to be turning around for her this year. Per E! Online , “A reliable AHS source tells us that Paulson, who also played the nasty governess in Deadwood, is joining the show for a big four-episode arc as a medium named Billie Dean… most of her scenes will be opposite her Broadway buddy Jessica Lange.

Next up? Morris Chestnut (Boyz N The Hood,, Ladder 49). Per Variety, “Chesnut will play the character of Luke“. Think I left some info out? Nope. That’s all they had.

“American Horror Story”, co-created by former “Nip/Tuck” executive producers and current “Glee” co-creators/executive producers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, revolves around the Harmons, a family of three who move from Boston to Los Angeles as a means to reconcile past anguish. The show premieres on FX October 5th.

TV: Jessica Lange Written in as ‘American Horror Story’ Lead

Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk have tapped Jessica Lange (Cape Fear, King Kong) to star in a lead role opposite Connie Britton in their FX horror pilot “American Horror Story.” This marks the first foray into TV series for the two-time Oscar winner, reports Deadline.

We’re told the plot follows Ben Harmon, a sensitive therapist, and Vivien Harmon (Britton), his gorgeous wife who is a force to be reckoned with in spite of her vulnerable demeanor. Denis O’Hare will play Larry, also referred to as “Larry the burn guy”.

Lange will play their nosy neighbor.

Murphy and Falchuk are now rewriting the script to expand the role for Lange, turning it into a full-fledged third lead.

Murphy is set to direct the pilot, from 20th Century Fox TV, which will start production later this month, after Murphy and Falchuk wrap production on “Glee.”

TV: ‘True Blood’ Vamp Burns for ‘American Horror Story’

Denis O’Hare – who plays the insanely badass vampire Russell Edgington on HBO’s “True Blood” – is set to co-star opposite Connie Britton in “American Horror Story,” Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s bizarre horror drama pilot for FX. Murphy is set to direct the pilot, from 20th Century Fox, which will shoot next month, after Murphy and Falchuk wrap production on “Glee,” reports Deadline.

FX and the producers are keeping the premise of “American Horror Story” under wraps, but a breakdown for the pilot lists its main characters as Ben Harmon, a sensitive therapist, and Vivien Harmon (Britton), his gorgeous wife who is a force to be reckoned with in spite of her vulnerable demeanor. O’Hare will play Larry, also referred to as “Larry the burn guy”. It is unclear if the “burn” part is metaphorical or living up to the “horror” portion in the title of the show.

The pilot is being eyed for a fall series launch on FX.
