10 Terrible Band Names

Band names. Some can be amazing and incredibly catchy and memorable. Others, however, can make you do a second take and whisper, “What the hell?” These are names that also stick with you throughout your life but not because of the band’s music, oh no. Rather, it’s because the name is so awful or problematic that you shudder at the very thought of bringing up these names.

So, below I’ve come up with 10 band names that are simply terrible. Note that this has nothing to do with the quality of their music, but simply is a thought about their name. Check it out! READ MORE

Check Out This Beautiful Cover Of 30 Seconds To Mars’ “Hurricane”

Destiny Potato singer Aleksandra Djelmas has released a cover of 30 Seconds To Mars‘ song “Hurricane”, which comes off their 2009 album This Is War. It’s a very simple black and white one take shot video with only piano and vocals. You can check out the video as well as the uncensored original music video below.

Destiny Potato is a band that I’m keeping a close eye on. They were signed to Century Media Records earlier this year and will be releasing their debut album in 2013. READ MORE

Destiny Potato’s Awesome Mashup Including TesseracT And James LaBrie

Since the signing of Destiny Potato to Century Media Records, I’ve been incredibly curious to hear what kind of music they’d release. While there is no album out yet, the band did release a single entitled “Dark Side Of You” (which you can download from the Carnival Of Sounds Vol. II sampler pack here) that I kinda love. Scratch that. I REALLY love it.

So, whilst scouring YouTube to see if I could find some more music from them, I stumbled across a mashup video they put together (I can’t believe I missed it). In it, the band presents two separate tracks, one that features a brief snippet of their song “The Wheel” that bleeds into TesseracT‘s “Origin” while the other begins with James LaBrie‘s “Euphoric” that shifts into their own “Lost Dream”. I’ve watched it several times now and I’m still not even remotely tired of hearing it. Check it out below. READ MORE

This Band Might Have One Of The Silliest Names Ever

There have been some silly band names over the years but an email sent to me this morning actually forced my jaw to drop: “Destiny Potato signs to Century Media Records”. I’m sorry, run that name by me one more time? Destiny Potato? I’ll give them credit because the name alone demanded my attention and made it so I had to check them out. And you know what? They’re pretty damn awesome!

Hailing from Serbia, Destiny Potato is a six-piece band that lives by the motto “Potatoes gonna potate.” The band formed under very quick circumstances when, in 2011, Euroblast Festival organizers reached out to guitarist David Maxim Micic to perform as a solo artist. He convinced them instead to host the band. The sneaky thing was that there was no band formed at that time. Micic, along with friend and fellow musician Aleksandra Djelmas, quickly put together a group and Destiny Potato was born.

Influenced by artists such as SIKTH, Destiny Potato is heavy, melodic, technical, and right up my alley. Below is a streaming sample of their song “Dark Side Of You”.
