Paramount Insurge’s found footage exorcism flick The Devil Inside hits DVD and Blu-ray on May 15th (with the Blu being a Best Buy exclusive). For what it’s worth, if you’re thinking about picking it up – my take hasn’t changed.

From my review, “While there’s enough scares, general creepiness and gore to give it a soft recommend to those hard up for a horror fix, the fact that it doesn’t fully function as a movie can’t be overlooked. Also, it has no third act. So if you’re into things like satisfying resolutions you might want to give this one a pass.”

There’s a new exorcism movie afoot. And after The Devil Inside I’d say The Cloth has nowhere to go but up! It’s certainly got a better cast!

Eric Roberts, Danny Trejo, Rachele Brooke Smith, Kyler Willett and Steven Brand star in the film. No one in Devil Inside can even begin to chew scenery like Roberts and Trejo. Justin Price wrote and directed the film which recently wrapped production.

The film, “is a thriller centered on a secret organization formed by the Catholic Church to counteract the rising cases of demonic possessions across the country. With the arrival of the Devil’s General Kasdeya on earth, the members of the Cloth have only seven days to stop the crossover of the ultimate evil into our realm. To stop Beelzebub’s arrival, their mission depends on Jason (Kyler Willett), a young godless man, to lead the next generation of Cloth members before the Devil and his armies walk the earth.”

I wasn’t anticipating the BD staff being so overtly excited for The Devil Inside, and with that I present to you three more reviews (one being a video review) for the found footage exorcism film that’s breaking the bank. Two take Evan Dickson’s corner, while one thought it was fantastic. Where do you stand? write your own review here.

In addition, according to THR, the flick is scaring up massive business at the domestic box office, where it’s now on course to open as high as $30 million. This is a huge change from the original numbers. Heading into the weekend, Paramount indicated that Devil Inside would open in the $8 million to $10 million range, but that number has been revised upward in light of the film’s midnight performance Thursday night, followed by strong matinee business. Devil Inside earned $2 million in its midnight runs.

Paramount Insurge’s found footage exorcism flick The Devil Inside is now in theaters everywhere. Evan Dickson attended the premiere in Hollywood to bring you one of the first official reviews of the completed feature, explaining that it’s kind of OK until the third act; the ending, well, it’s gonna piss a lot of people off.

Paramount’s The Devil Inside is just about to hit theaters and while I haven’t seen it yet – I’ve talked to a very experienced person who has.

Reverend Bob Larson has been pretty busy the past 30 years. He claims to have performed over 15,000 exorcisms during that time. More than one a day on average. I had the chance to speak with him earlier this week about his “real-life” experiences and how the movies stack up against them. Particularly The Devil Inside.

While I’m not entirely sure I believe in demonic possession myself, Larson certainly claims to and was willing to speak at length about it.

“In 1989, emergency responders received a 9-1-1 call from Maria Rossi (Suzan Crowley) confessing that she had brutally killed three people. 20 years later, her daughter Isabella (Fernanda Andrade) seeks to understand the truth about what happened that night. Paramount’s The Devil Inside has hit a certain saturation point (at least in Los Angeles) with its eerie billboards and provocative trailers. But the scope of the film apparently stretches out beyond the snippets we’ve been given. I recently hopped on the phone with Simon Quarterman, who plays Ben in the film, to get an idea of how this film sizes up against other recent exorcism movies (and found footage films in general). What he had to say made me hopeful that this film might set itself apart from the pack.

Paramount Insurge has given MTV a kinda stupid holiday greeting card for Brent Bell’s The Devil Inside, their exorcism flick opening in theaters January 6, 2012. The video plays like a video greeting card with a screaming woman at the end. The concept appeared to be heading in the right direction, but kind of missed their own sentiment that if God exists, so does the Devil. Whatever, the movie looks cool and that chick is all kinds of crazy creepy.

I love that Paramount Insurge are playing their cards close to their chest with Brent Bell’s The Devil Inside, their exorcism flick opening in theaters January 6, 2012. There are some good teases in the trailer and TV spot, but they’ve gone out of their way to keep the imagery to a minimum. IMO the less known about a film before going in, the more impact. While we already screen-capped the above image, Paramount Insurge has made it the first “official” look at Brent Bell’s The Devil Inside, their exorcism flick opening in theaters January 6, 2012. In addition, we’ve been provided with the film’s official synopsis. What are your thoughts after all of the hype this past week?

“In 1989, emergency responders received a 9-1-1 call from Maria Rossi (Suzan Crowley) confessing that she had brutally killed three people. 20 years later, her daughter Isabella (Fernanda Andrade) seeks to understand the truth about what happened that night. She travels to the Centrino Hospital for the Criminally Insane in Italy where her mother has been locked away to determine if her mother is mentally ill or demonically possessed. When she recruits two young exorcists (Simon Quarterman and Evan Helmuth) to cure her mom using unconventional methods combining both science and religion, they come face-to-face with pure evil in the form of four powerful demons possessing Maria. Many have been possessed by one; only one has been possessed by many.”

[OMFG] Paramount Uses Paranormal As Launchpad for Creepy New Franchise: The Devil Inside!!

Opening in theaters January 6, 2012 is Paramount Pictures’ latest micro-budget franchise starter, The Devil Inside, which comes from director and co-writer William Brent Bell (Stay Alive). Using Paranormal Activity 3 as a launchpad, Bloody Disgusting scored your first ever look at the creepy as f*ck lip-splitting teaser one sheet (standard and “living” version), along with an even more disturbing viral video. The video plays a call to 911 where a woman confesses to murdering three people and asks for them to send help. It reminds me of when the zombies called for “more ambulances” in Return of the Living Dead. The trailer will premiere online this coming Monday. Become a fan on Facebook.
