Extreme metal at its very best, plain and simple, is what the Atlanta based quintet Daath delivers. Currently the group is more determined, energized, and focused than ever before and is continuing to expand upon their unique, uncompromising and dynamic sound. For those previously uninitiated, feel free to head over to www.myspace.com/daath
to see what they are all about.
Daath are currently putting the finishing touches on their much anticipated third album, which is being co-produced by the renowned Mark Lewis (Trivium, Devildriver) and Eyal Levi (guitars). Metal Mark from Skulls N Bones recently spent some time in the studio with the band and compiled a video series documenting the recording process, so click HERE
now to check out the first installment.
Levi further states: “It’s hard to write about your own music so I’m going to keep this quick. Daath has a new record coming out this October. This is the most unrestrained and over the top collection of songs we’ve ever captured. We went in with the intent of creating a freak show of a record and we achieved it. People looking for a wrecking ball of an album will be happy. People looking for an album they’ll still hear new things in one year down the road will be happy. People going in with any preconceived notions of who we are and what we sound like are in for a surprise.”

States EXODUS guitarist/songwriter Gary Holt: “We are fucking stoked to announce the ‘March of Brutality’ line-up. This tour is going to re-write the book on how much fun is actually legal!”

Relentless Retribution is a full return to the bands thrash roots and will be released on September 3rd in Europe and the 14th in North America. The album was recorded at Audio Hammer Studios in Sanford, Florida with production genius Jason Suecof (Trivium, August Burns Red, The Black Dahlia Murder, All That Remains, Whitechapel, Devildriver).
New Orleans, Louisiana’s sons of American no-frills black metal meets death and roll, GOATWHORE, are confirmed to play the second stage on the infamous OZZFest summer tour alongside Black Label Society, Drowning Pool, Kingdom of Sorrow, Skeletonwitch, Saviours, and Kataklysm. Direct from the awesome crew over at Roadrunner Records:
Whether making memorable moments, pushing the envelope with explicit imagery, cinematic technology, or just telling the gripping tale of well-thought-out storylines, music videos have always been a beacon of expression, which is why we took a look at the killer videos in Roadrunner’s long history to find ten of our most unforgettable. Numbers 10 – 6 showcased everything from the late Peter Steele playing a stand-up bass as a regular 4 string to Corey Taylor unmasked and playing the lead in a twisted short film, and now as we reveal our top 5, we get some insight from our Head of Video Promotions and veteran employee Elias Chios in addition to the bands in question, on the cinematic excellence, groundbreaking creativity and overall bad-ass entertainment of our past and present music videos. From the viral strength of DragonForce’s Sam Totman chugging a beer while Herman Li shreds through Killswitch Engage’s Adam. D. playing a fair maiden, to Slipknot destroying a house in Iowa, we give you our global staff-approved Greatest Music Videos. READ MORE
Since forming in 2003 DevilDriver have worked their way up the metal ladder with endless touring and relentless hard work, all culminating in their latest release Pray for Villians. Bloody Disgusting’s Rick Florino caught up with DevilDriver a while back to bring you a list of the band’s favorite horror movies, and now we’re happy to give away a brand new ESP Guitar signed by the band to one lucky BD reader.

Living in Chicago I’ve ventured north to The Rave in Milwaukee many times, but just recently found out about them streaming shows live on their website last week when my cousin’s band Chainwax performed. While nothing beats a “real” live show, this is still pretty sweet and it’s free!
January 19 you can forget the brutal Wisconsin winter weather and watch Devildriver, Suffocation, Goatwhore, and Thy Will Be Done from the comfort of your own home. To watch just visit http://www.theravelive.com/ and sign up for a free account (registration is required). READ MORE
The mighty Goatwhore will be returning to the road in 2010 with veteran metal icons, DevilDriver and Suffocation! This will be their first tour back in North America following their upcoming European tour and is continuing the support for what is fast becoming their defining album, Carving Out The Eyes Of God. The Onion’s avclub.com declares Carving… as one of the top 30 metal albums of the decade and comments: “Ben Falgoust’s vocals and lyrics go way, way over the top, and Sammy Duet’s guitars sound more savage than ever. Both a culmination and a progression, Goatwhore reminds listeners why metal has a reputation for being terrifying.”
And, as always, Goatwhore will be equipped with their always tight, always furious, engaging live show, led by Ben Falgoust’s commanding presence and Sammy Duet’s one-man guitar attack. Zack Simmons’ on drums and new addition, James Harvey on bass, provide one of the tightest and most caustic rhythm sections in metal. This will be a tour not to miss.
