Israeli metal band Orphaned Land have released a lyric video for “Our Own Messiah”, the band’s first single from their upcoming album All Is One (out June 25th via Century Media Records). The album was mixed by Jens Bogren (Amon Amarth, Opeth, Devin Townsend Project, James LaBrie) and was recorded in Israeli, Turkey, and Sweden. Over 40 musicians were used on All Is One, including 25 choir singers and eight classical violin, viola and cello players from Turkey.

The song is available for free download on a new Century Media Records sampler album, which also includes free music from such artists as In Flames, Devin Townsend, Jolly, In This Moment, Lacuna Coil, Fozzy, and more. You can download the album here.
If you were into huge internet memes about 10 years ago or so then you’ll remember Weebl, the website that had a ton of different looping flash cartoons with absurdly catchy songs. My personal favorites were the original Magical Trevor, Narwhals, and Crabs. But the most popular one, without a doubt, was Badgers. It honestly seemed like I couldn’t go a day without someone posting a link to that flash cartoon on a forum or in a chatroom.
Well, that classic internet video has now received a metal remix thanks to the wildly eccentric Devin Townsend, who posted the track on YouTube yesterday. The drums are courtesy of Soilwork‘s Dirk Verbeuren and the track was recorded during the Deconstruction studio sessions. Check it out below!
Michigan progressive metal band The Omega Experiment has signed to Listenable Records, the record label that saw the beginning careers of such bands as Gojira, Soilwork, Textures, and more. The band’s debut album (review) will be re-released in late-February/early-March 2013. A sophomore album is in the process of being recorded.
The band’s debut EP was praised by Devin Townsend and their self-titled full length was mastered by TesseracT‘s Acle Kahney. READ MORE
An official video for Devin Townsend’s “Lucky Animals” has been released via MetalHammer. The video, which you can watch below, takes tons of clips of people dancing, rocking out, and, in general, having a ton of fun to the song. You can tell several of the people went all out and just did not give one damn about how they looked. Kudos to those people.

Bloody-Disgusting is excited to bring you the exclusive album artwork premiere for Naught, the upcoming album from Stolen Babies! The artwork is deceptive, to say the least. At first glance, it seems very innocent and happy, showing a dark pink sheep in the middle of a “Who Framed Roger Rabbit Toon Town”-esque setting. But at closer inspection, things become more stranger, creating a sense of unease. The colors, while bright, have a dark tinge. The houses, seemingly happy, have a worried tilt to their eyes. And the sky, while blue and beautiful, has scratches and mars. Yup, something seems very strange in this image. You can check out the full artwork below.
The follow-up to 2006′s There Be Squabbles Ahead, Naught has a fall release date via No Comment Records.
Stolen Babies will be on the Epic Kings & Idols Tour with Devin Townsend, Katatonia, and Paradise Lost. Tour dates and artwork can be found below. READ MORE
In anticipation of their upcoming ninth studio album Dead End Kings (out Aug. 28th via Peaceville Records), Swedish melodic metal band Katatonia have released a tour promo video that uses a sample of a new song, “Lethean”, as the backdrop. Personally speaking, I cannot WAIT for this album! I’ve been a fan of Katatonia for over 10 years and a new album from them is a reason for much celebration. Also, “Dead Letters” and this sample are convincing me that I might have a contender for Album of the Year. What are your thoughts? READ MORE
Easily one of the hardest working and most eclectic musicians today, Devin Townsend is a whirlwind of musical thoughts and energy. Each release of his is something out of this world, an auditory journey that never reveals the ending until the last notes fade away. Basically, I’m a huge fan.
In anticipation of the release of By A Thread: Live In London, two more video clips have popped up. The first is “Awake” from the Addicted album. Guest singer Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gathering) was at the show and the combination of her and Devin’s vocals are unbelievable. The second video is the title track from the Ghost album. Both are below for your viewing pleasure.

The picture above should cause any prog/djent metal fan’s head to explode. Seriously, just look at it. There’s Devin Townsend. There’s Meshuggah‘s Fredrik Thordendal. Oh, and there’s Gojira! ALL ON THE SAME STAGE! Yeah, I’m slightly aroused and I’m not ashamed to admit it.
This shot was taken when Gojira was rocking the Soundwave Festival in Perth, Australia where Devin Townsend and Fredrik Thordendal joined them on stage to perform the song Of Blood And Salt. There is video footage of the performance below.
It is becoming more and more apparent with each passing day that the quality of music that can come from a home studio can equal, if not surpass, what professional studios offer. Bands and artists have access to plug-ins and effects that would boggle the mind of the music industry not even a decade ago. Such is the case with unsigned band The Omega Experiment’s self-titled debut album. Built as an outlet for mastermind Dan Wieten’s troubles with addiction, this prog/djent metal album is a slick, fantastic sounding album. But does it have substance behind the glossy mask? READ MORE
Devin Townsend has just released a video for Juular, which comes off Deconstruction, the third in the Devin Townsend Project quadrilogy. The video shows Devin hopping onto a train that looks very much like the one in Alice: Madness Returns (no, seriously, check it out here) and dealing with a very upset older gentleman who apparently has the lungs of an ox. Oh, and make sure to keep an eye out for a special cameo appearance of Ziltoid!
French metal band Gojira have released Of Blood And Salt, a track off the upcoming The Sea Shepherd EP. The track features Devin Townsend on vocals and a solo from Fredrik Thorendal (Meshuggah). Check out the awesome track after the jump!

James Monteith and Acle Kahney, guitarists of prog-djent band TesseracT, showed Bloody-Disgusting their guitar rigs during their tour with Devin Townsend. The tour includes pedals, amps and guitars, so if you’re a gear junkie, like myself, then this is definitely a couple of videos you want to check out!
