Amaranthe Stream New Song “Mechanical Illusion”

Swedish/Danish melodic metal band Amaranthe has released a new song entitled “Mechanical Illusion”, which you can stream below. The song comes from the band’s upcoming sophomore album The Nexus, which will be released in the US on Mar. 26th via Spinefarm Records.

Guitarist/composer Olof Mörck comments, “To give a second taster of The Nexus is truly exciting! The first single and title track showed a familiar, yet amped-up AMARANTHE. ‘Mechanical Illusion’ is quite different from what people have heard from us so far. Probably the heaviest track yet, a dystopian vision steeped in a darkened futuristic atmosphere, combined with a mega-catchy chorus that is likely to ring in your head for days. Brace yourselves, the illusion is upon us!

You can also watch the band’s video for “The Nexus”, which was directed by Patric Ullaeus (In Flames, Soen, Dimmu Borgir), below. READ MORE

Amaranthe Announce Release Date Of Second Studio Album ‘The Nexus’

Swedish hard rock/metal band Amaranthe are gearing up to release their sophomore album The Nexus, which was produced by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Dreamshade & Ginger Wildheart). The album will be released Mar. 26th in the States via Spinefarm Records.

Guitarist Olof Morck states, “The moment has come to let loose The Nexus on an unsuspecting world! This time we went all the way with our futuristic dream-nightmare – a no-compromise vision steeped in deep contrast between the mechanically ultra-heavy and shimmering serene melody. The Nexus is everything we dreamed about doing with our debut album; we laboured to make this offering as diverse as it is direct and catchy… and remember, no-one can be told what The Nexus is – you have to hear it for yourself!

You can watch a video for their title track, which was directed by Patric Ullaeus (In Flames, Dimmu Borgir), below. READ MORE

Twisted Music Video Of The Week Vol. 44: Dimmu Borgir “Gateways”

It’s Friday! Twisted Music Video Of The Week time! This week we’ve got Dimmu Borgir‘s “Gateways”, which comes from their most recent album Abrahadabra (iTunes). Featuring guest vocals from Agnete Kjølsrud (ex-Animal Alpha, Djerv), the song is a fast-paced symphonic black metal ride that is pretty damn catchy and features some fantastic vocals towards the end. As for the video, it shows the band performing in an abandoned factory of some sort while all sorts of weird and crazy things happen around them. Gravity is defied, people bathe in blood, and organs are thrown about willy nilly. Check it out below!

As always, leave a suggestion for next weeks edition of Twisted Music Video Of The Week in the comments! READ MORE

Ex Opeth Drummers Soen Releases Video For Savia
Soen, the band featuring ex-Opeth drummer Martin Lopez, has released an official video for Savia, which comes off their upcoming debut album Cognitive. Directed by Patric Ullaeus (In Flames, Dimmu Borgir), the song definitely has some Tool-esque vibes while dipping its toes into heavier territory. Another song, Delenda, can be heard on their Facebook page. I’m definitely enjoying the songs and I’m really looking forward to hearing the rest of the album. Check out the video below.

Opera Diabolicus is the brainchild project of composer David Grimoire and lyricist Adrian de Crow. After meeting at a stage production of Umberto Eco’s In The Name Of The Rose [Ed. Now, their debut album, †1614, is about to arrive. But does it provide the spectacle that was promised or does this production fall flat?

Insidious Disease Teams Up With MetalSucks For Boundless Video Premiere

Insidious Disease has partnered up with MetalSucks to exclusively present the worldwide debut of their new Boundless video. Click on the link HERE now to check out this truly disturbing clip.

Marc Grewe (vocals) states: “This video features the guy from our Shadowcast album cover. His name is Roar Hoch-Nielsen. The story behind it is obvious. Roar has the role of a loving father and husband with this kind of funny hobby. He likes to read riffle magazines and after the family went to bed he is starting his obscure work.
‘My part in the video is being the ‘electric eye’ filming his work. We think that something like this happens; we had a case in Austria, where this guy tortured his own daughter for over 25 years. He made everyone believe that he was a loving and caring father, but that clearly wasn’t the case. Something like this could happen right now. Maybe it´s your neighbor who seems to be the nicest person around, but behind closed doors the dark abyss of abnormality is the total reality.

Dimmu Borgir Post First Of Four Pieces Of New Album Artwork On-Line

The first of four portions of the new artwork for the as-yet-untitled Dimmu Borgir album has been uploaded to the band’s MySpace page.

Joachim Luetke (Arch Enemy, Kreator, Sopor Aeternus), German artist / painter / graphic designer who studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, Austria, lends his disturbing talents to the new Dimmu Borgir album.
When asked what he feels his approach does for Dimmu Borgir, Luetke responds: “My artwork visualizes their music, adds another (optical) dimension to it.  I don’t know exactly how this works.  Cannot tell what kind of interior mechanism gets triggered by their music, but it’s clearly an utmost powerful one.  Analyzing this means destroying it.  As for our repeated collaborations, well, that’s probably because we share the similar philosophy at eye level.”

In early June, Dimmu Borgir proudly announced their collaboration with Norwegian composer and Berklee College of Music summa cum laude alumnus Gaute Storaas in addition to the 51 members of KORK (the Norwegian Radio Orchestra) and the 38-member Schola Cantorum Choir for their new release.  To date, over 101 musicians have contributed to the making of the new album.

Composer Gaute Storaas has said of Dimmu Borgir: “Their music is epic, thematic and symphonic already from the creation; they are clearly having an orchestral approach to composing.”

Dimmu Borgir’s ninth studio album will be released in Germany on September 24th, in the rest of Europe on September 27th, and in North America on October 12th. They will also be touring with Korn throughout Europe later this year.
