With the departure of writer Brian Wood (DMZ, Northlanders) from DC, we knew it was only a matter of time before Marvel got their hooks into him. Now with the announcement at this weekend’s at Wondercon, Wood will be taking over both X-Men and Ultimate Comics X-Men beginning in June with X-Men #30 and Ultimate X-Men #13. This creative change will bode well for the X-Men books as Wood will undoubtedly give the franchise a well deserved shot in the arm.
Comic book writer Brian Wood updated his blog this week regarding television a adaptation of his Vertigo comic series “DMZ,” which is set in the near future, where a second civil war has turned the island of Manhattan into a demilitarized zone, caught between forces of the United States of America and secessionist “Free States.” It has apparently been scrapped:
“We also had a near miss with setting DMZ up as a television show, at a verrrry respectable network, and its a bit crushing. I had hoped the whole new “DC Entertainment” meant they’d be better about this sort of thing… and this deal seemed like a gift from heaven… but apparently not.
Here is an appropriate bit of art (leo fernandez, the plague widow)”
