If you’re reading this, perhaps you read my post about the year’s best trailers. Now it’s time to bring the hammer down on the worst. Like I’ve said before, marketing is an art form, and it’s just as eligible for appraisal as the product its selling.
The majority of these are from correspondingly awful movies, but occasionally you get that rare nugget of a trailer that’s actually for a good movie that it can’t seem to sell it at all. We’ve got a couple of those in here as well.
Head inside for the worst trailers of the year (in no particular order)! READ MORE
We’ve landed the two clips from Dario Argento’s Dracula 3D, which looks absolutely ridiculous. I still have high hopes considering I liked Mother of Tears.
IFC Films has snagged the rights and will release it under the IFC Midnight label in 2013.
The film stars Thomas Kretschmann, Marta Gastini, Rutger Hauer, Asia Argento, Miguel Angel Silvestre and Miriam Giovanelli.

Dario Argento’s terrible looking (trailer inside!) Dracula 3D has been picked up by IFC. Per Fangoria, “IFC Films has snagged the rights and will release it under the IFC Midnight label in 2013.” The film stars Thomas Kretschmann, Marta Gastini, Rutger Hauer, Asia Argento, Miguel Angel Silvestre and Miriam Giovanelli.
IFC has also picked up the rights in North America, Latin America, UK, France and Germany for David Guy Levy’s Would You Rather. Brittany Snow (Prom Night), Jeffrey Combs (Re-Animator) and Sasha Grey all star. In the film, “In the wake of her parent’s death, Iris (Snow) struggles to make ends meet while caring for her terminally ill younger brother. Shepard Lambrick (Combs), a seemingly philanthropic aristocrat, expresses an interest in helping them. When he invites her to an exclusive dinner party, she accepts. Also attending the dinner party are seven more desperate individuals. They soon find themselves trapped in Lambrick’s mansion and forced to play a sadistic game of Would You Rather, where the winner will be awarded untold amounts of money. As the game progresses, the dilemmas Iris and the other players face grow increasingly deadly.”
Harrison Gilbertson (Virginia, “Conspiracy 365″) has been cast in Haunt, an original horror film that Mac Carter will direct from a script by Andrew Barrer, says Deadline.
In the film, “A family that moves into a new home with a dark past. When their son becomes involved with a beautiful girl next door, and together they begin to explore their sexual awakening, they unwittingly invoke an alternative dimension of the house.” Production starts in November. READ MORE
After leaving the American Film Market without any major sales announcements, Dario Argento’s Dracula 3D now has a trailer. Below you’ll find the leaked footage that isn’t quite complete (there are a few missing effects shots). While it looks intensely cheesy, it’s also over-the-top bloody and violent. Count me in.
Starring Thomas Kretschmann, Marta Gastini, Rutger Hauer, Asia Argento, Miguel Angel Silvestre, Miriam Giovanelli, there are a few older bloody photos below, along with another look at the 800 page synopsis. Can’t they just say “based on the original novel by Bram Stroker, about the vampire Dracula, an icon of twentieth century culture”? READ MORE

Fans who still believe Dario Argento can do no wrong take note of the newly launched official website for his latest horror entry, Dracula 3D, which features a behind-the-scenes video and a slew of first ever official photography!
Starring Thomas Kretschmann, Marta Gastini, Rutger Hauer, Asia Argento, Miguel Angel Silvestre, Miriam Giovanelli, there are a few bloody photos below, along with yet another 800 page synopsis. Can’t they just say “based on the original novel by Bram Stroker, about the vampire Dracula, an icon of twentieth century culture”? Personally, I’m not all that impressed with the images, and don’t understand why it’s necessary to unload 37 revealing looks at the film. I want to be surprised!
I wonder if Dario knows what Twitter is, or that he has no reason to hire a PR agency to promote Dracula 3D because his daughter, Asia, is doing a great job distributing production stills online all by herself. The latest slew of photos shows her character, Lucy, after her transformation and Alan Jones hanging out on the set. My question is when are we going to see Rutger Hauer running around with stakes?
Argento’s stereoscopic retelling of Dracula has no release date as of yet, but one would assume late 2011 or early 2012.

I have to admit that I really wasn’t excited for Dario Argento’s Dracula 3D until I heard that Rutger Hauer was cast as Van Helsing. He’s an extremely intense actor when he wants to be, and I can’t wait to watch him chew the scenery as the famous vampire slayer.
Today, Asia Argento – who plays Lucy – posted a few behind-the-scenes photos from the set, including shots of Mina (Marta Gastini), her dad, and a building which I assume is either Carfax Abbey or Castle Dracula.
