[Random Cool] Every Skrillex Song Played At Once

This put a rather big smile on my face as it’s pretty damn ridiculous. YouTube user FrankNintendo64 took a ton of dubstep artist Skrillex‘s songs (up until early 2012) and placed them over each other (with no pitch shifting correction) to create the ultimate Skrillex song. At points, it’s a complete garbled mess. At other points, it’s rather hilarious how well everything works together. Check it out below. READ MORE

[LOL] Check Out The Official Lyrics To Skrillex’s “First Of The Year (Equinox)”

Perhaps one of the most difficult parts of listening to Skrillex, or any dubstep artist for that matter, is that it’s really hard to sing along with the song because the lyrics are so deep, meaningful, and freakin’ unintelligible!!! A prime example of this is “First Of The Year (Equinox)”. The video (below) shows a man follow a small girl into a dilapidated basement with the intention of drugging her and, theoretically, having his way with her (what a perv). However, the girl, using her mystical, magical, My Little Pony powers, proceeds to levitate and pummel the unholy crap out of Mr. “I grow older, they stay the same age, yes they do, yes they do”.

But are those images reflected in the lyrics? Is there something incredible and poignant that I’m missing because I simply cannot understand what is being said? Well, no longer do I have to worry! Lyrics for the song have been provided and WOW! They open my eyes up to the genius that is the poet known as Skrillex! Check ‘em out below and share your thoughts on the majestic glory! READ MORE

[OMFG] Unbelievably Awesome TRON Light Dance

tronlightdanceroutinescreencap [OMFG] Unbelievably Awesome TRON Light Dance
No, this doesn’t relate to horror. No, this isn’t rock or metal. You know what this is? Sheer awesomeness. Yup, that’s the only way to describe it. What you are (hopefully) about to watch is Japanese dance group Wrecking Crew Orchestra doing a TRON light dance routine that is set to some intense electronic/dubstep and is just way too cool for me not to share. So, enough hyping it up. Check out the video below!

[OMFG] Here’s A Pretty Badass Djent Cover Of Skrillex’s ‘Rock And Roll’

boyinabandskrillexscreencap [OMFG] Heres A Pretty Badass Djent Cover Of Skrillexs Rock And Roll
YouTube user BoyInABand has released this pretty awesome djent cover of Skrillex‘s Rock And Roll, which you can watch below. While I’m really impressed by a lot of the individual components of the video (that tone coming from the bass is AWESOME), the overall product seemed to have too much going on at times. Still, it’s very much worth checking out and, if you’re so inclined, you can download the song for free here and make it your weekend theme!

[OMFG] Dubstep Became Interesting Again

lindseystirlingcrystallizescreencap [OMFG] Dubstep Became Interesting Again
I’m going to lay it out on the line here: I’m getting tired of dubstep. Sure, there are a couple of tracks that I’m cool with listening to now and again. But the simple fact is that dubstep became another fad that people took to extremes and put everywhere. It wasn’t enough on its own, so it became a part of rock/metal (see Korn‘s The Path To Totality for examples). It’s in commercials, movie trailers, blah blah blah. And so, after being inundated by dubstep for over a year, I’m kinda done with it.
Then comes along violinist Lindsey Stirling who posts a video of her rocking the violin to some dubstep. End result? It’s pretty badass. It doesn’t hurt that she can dance beautifully whilst playing AND is rather easy on the eyes (male chauvinism FTW!). Check out the latest track Crystallize below. You can also see my personal favorite Shadows.

[Review] Hopes Die Last ‘Trust No One’

[Review] Hopes Die Last Trust No One
At first listen, Italian band Hopes Die Last could easily be categorized as screamo and just left at that. Hell, my first playthrough of their new album, Trust No One, had me thinking this. But then I spun it a second time and new elements started peeking out from behind the curtains. Touches of alt-rock? Check. How about electronica and even dubstep? Yuppers. But do all of these elements combine into a solid package or do they try to tear themselves free from each other, striving for the spotlight?

Korn Announces Short US Tour

 Korn Announces Short US Tour
Korn has announced a short string of tour dates as a second leg in support of their latest album The Path Of Totality. The tour only has eight stops but manages to go nearly shore to shore (sorry East coast). Support on three dates will come from Kill The Noise while vocalist Jonathan Davis will be debuting his own DJ set under the moniker J Devil.
While I haven’t heard the album, people keep telling me that it’s actually pretty enjoyable. What say you readers? Who’s listened to it and what are your thoughts?

Some New Music Videos For You From Korn And The Devil Wears Prada

A couple of new music videos have hit the web today that I wanted to share with you. The first is Born To Lose from The Devil Wears Prada. Visually, it’s actually really cool. I dug the tone and atmosphere and the song worked quite well with the imagery.

The second video we’ve got here is an actual official video for Korn‘s Get Up. Personally, I find any video of a band rocking out in front of a crowd to be boring, generic and plain. Honestly, I was hoping for something a bit more visually stimulating, especially considering that this is a reinvented Korn sound. Oh, and for a song that says “Feat. Skrillex“, I’d think they’d somehow get him into the video. Perhaps I’m asking too much.
Check out the videos afte the jump!

[OMFG] Band Covers Skrillex And I Need To Know WTF They Are Doing

Okay, I need some help here people: I just saw this awesome video of a band covering Skrillex‘s Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites. Trouble is, I have absolutely no idea what the bass and the guitar are doing at certain points in the song. It’s not what notes they are playing or the chords, it’s how the hell are they making those sounds??? Just check out the bass around :56 seconds as well as the guitar around 1:25. I’m really curious to know the technology behind those sounds. Hell, I’m kinda tempted, once I know what it is, to throw it into one of my project guitars just to have some fun.

Check out the video after the jump and help me out!

Free Metroid Music Compilation For You Gamers

I don’t know about you guys, but I definitely see the Metroid series having a lot of horror influences. The bosses are pretty creepy looking, you never know what’s coming up, and the music can be quite haunting. Actually, speaking of the music, that’s why we’re here! Currently out for free download is a two disc set of music inspired by and in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Metroid series called Harmony of a Hunter. The compilation features 36 tracks put together by 24 different musicians. The different styles range from electronica and ambient to dubstep to metal. All in all, it sounds awesome and I highly recommend it for fans of the series or just the everyday casual listener.
