The artwork was done by artist/sculptor Yasuyuki Nishio and, according to the a post on the band’s Facebook, “…is the result of the fusion between Dir En Grey’s expressions to this day with Yasuyuki Nishio’s perspective of the world, bringing forth yet another release that exhibits an overwhelming sense of existence.” More information on this release can be found here. Japanese prog metal band Dir En Grey has released an incredibly odd yet visually arresting video for their new single “Rinkaku”. The video is made up entirely of black and white drawings that are placed close enough to create a semblance of movement. However, it’s still very disjointed. Oh, and did I mention that it’s also incredibly twisted? Five faces melt out of paintings and flood a room with their flesh. A bird watches in terror as its body lays there in a state of decomposition. And more. Basically, it’s a great way to start off your Monday if you want to feel a bit odd and out of place.
As for the song, it’s immediately identifiable as Dir En Grey. Something about their guitar tone and atmosphere are just so unique. And if that wasn’t enough, Kyo’s voice cinches the deal. Check it out below. READ MORE

Straight off the band’s official website: The track is unlike anything you have heard before, almost overturning the band’s musical concept on a new scale, coming in with a range full of depth with Kyo’s vocals that evoke classical elements in this beautiful and intricate melodic track which builds up dramatically with the intertwining guitars and bass.
