[Random Cool] If You’re Going To Clean Then Use The “Broom Of Doom”

Some people think of the crazies things. Most of the time, they just hold onto those thoughts and laugh about what would happen if they actually did it. Then they just go about their lives and that’s that. Then there are people who actually DO crazy things. Why? A better question might be why not?

YouTube user MarvAttaxx is one of those doers. He’s the guy who takes an idea and makes it happen. For example, let’s take a look at how he took a push broom and turned it into a one-string guitar capable of playing Meshuggah‘s “Rational Gaze” or Emmure‘s “Words Of Intulo”. The project involved some haphazard woodworking and MacGyver-ing for the pickup but the end result is a damn impressive broom that sounds rather mean, rather gnarly, and surprisingly awesome. Head on below to give it a listen! READ MORE

Unearth Touring With Whitechapel, Emmure, And More: Fear Factory Bassist Filling In During Tour

Metal Blade Records band Unearth has announced that they will be supporting Whitechapel, and Emmure with additional support coming from Obey The Brave, and The Plot In You. The tour will begin Jan. 8th, 2013 in Knoxville, TN and will end Feb. 11th in New York City, NY. The full touring schedule can be seen below.

Vocalist Trevor Phipps says, “John “Slo” Maggard will unfortunately be sitting out the Brothers of Brutality Tour (Whitechapel, Emmure, Obey the Brave, The Plot In You) this coming January/February. His absence is simply to take care of personal matters at home and is only temporary. Slo will remain a member of Unearth moving forward and is actively involved in the writing process for our next album, which we plan to record and release some time in 2013.

Luckily, our long time friend Matt DeVries (Fear Factory, ex-Chimaira) will be taking over bass duties for the tour.

DeVries added, “I couldn’t be more excited to be filling in on bass for my long time friends in Unearth on the upcoming Brothers Of Brutality Tour. They are like family to me and I’m extremely happy to step up to the plate for my good buddy Slo! READ MORE

Five Finger Death Punch Fights Suicide In New Video For “Coming Down”

Five Finger Death Punch just released a video for “Coming Down”, which comes off their latest album American Capitalist (review). The video shows two teens, horribly bullied (both in real life and in the cyber world), who fight the urge to take their own lives. You can watch the video below.

Guitarist Zoltan Bathory (interview) explains, “Through support and awareness, suicide can be prevented. Five Finger Death Punch is promoting the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline to build awareness that there is support out there for those in need through the Lifeline’s service, and others. This is an important initiative we have taken on to place it on the consciousness of the public that you are not alone when in need.”

The band will also be embarking on the Trespass America tour with Killswitch Engage, Trivium, Pop Evil, Emmure, God Forbid, and Battlecross. One dollar from every ticket sold will be donated to provide for the National Suicide Hotline crisis call centers. Tour dates are below. READ MORE

Five Finger Death Punch Set To Headline Trespass America Festival

Battlecross, God Forbid, Emmure, Trivium, Pop Evil, Killswitch Engage, Five Finger Death Punch. That is quite an impressive lineup for the inaugural year of the Trespass America music festival! Sponsored by Metal Hammer magazine, the tour will start in mid July and run through until the end of August, hitting many of the major spots while still stopping by a few of the more “out of the way” destinations.

Five Finger Death Punch guitarist Zoltan Bathory states, “We will carry the flag into mainstream territory; we will trespass on their turf all across America. The combined power of Metal Hammer and all these bands enable us to make a statement, a really loud one. Heavy music wants its place back in the limelight, so get ready, because we are coming, and we are coming in numbers.”

The Ghost Inside Announce Guest Vocalists For ‘The Returners’

Los Angeles based The Ghost Inside are readying their new album The Returners for a June 8th release on Mediaskare Records. Returners boasts the band’s most developed and anthemic material yet, guaranteed to set off fist pumping and sing-alongs at any show. The new album also features guest vocals from Brendan Foley of Betrayal, Tommy Green of Sleeping Giant and Mat Bruso (ex Bury Your Dead). Speaking on the spots vocalist Jonathan Vigil revealed “Well, were good friends with the band Betrayal and we all really like Brendan’s voice and we asked him and he was down to do it. Basically, it’s the same thing with Tommy from Sleeping Giant, except we specifically wanted him for the song “The Conflict” because of what the song is about and how it deals with the two sides of Christianity in the hardcore scene. Lastly, Shane (Frisby) who produced our record is really good friends with Mat Bruso and he called in a favor. Mat poured Coca-Cola all over himself in the vocal booth. It was awesome.” READ MORE
