Poster Round Up: ‘Errors of the Human Body,’ ‘Pacific Rim’, ‘The Quiet Ones’ And “Zombieland”
Starring Jared Harris (“Mad Men”, The Ward) and Sam Claflin and directed by John Pogue, below you’ll find a leaked look at the first poster for Hammer Films’ The Quiet Ones. “Inspired by true events, it tells the story of an unorthodox, but charismatic Professor (Harris) who uses controversial methods and leads his best students off the grid to take part in a dangerous experiment: to create a poltergeist from negative human energy.”

Warners has released yet another Jaeger poster for Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim, this time depicting a giant “Striker Eureka” robot out of Australia. Prepare for war this July 12. The pic is set in a future in which malevolent creatures threaten the earth, the planet must band together and use highly advanced technology to eradicate the growing menace.
And we’ve also got a poster for Amazon’s, “Zombieland” pilot. Based on the hit Columbia Pictures movie of the same name, and finds four survivors outwitting zombies and searching for a place to call home. The Zombieland pilot comes from the feature film’s original creative team, writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (G.I. Joe: Retaliation, The Joe Schmo Show), and producer Gavin Polone (Gilmore Girls, Curb Your Enthusiasm). Eli Craig (Tucker and Dale vs. Evil) is directing the pilot. The part of Tallahassee will be played by Kirk Ward (The Island), Maiara Walsh (Desperate Housewives, Switched at Birth,) is cast as Wichita, Tyler Ross (Milkshake) will play Columbus, and Izabela Vidovic has the role of Little Rock

The 8th annual Fantastic Fest has passed the halfway point of its 8-day reign of chaos in Austin, Texas. The sci/fi, fantasy, martial arts, Asian fantastic, and horror film festival offers up a little something for all genre lovers.
It is my duty to bring you the most horror and/or horror-related film reviews possible. With less than 20 feature films considered to be true horror, I will occasionally spotlight other non-horror films that will, hopefully, appeal to our readers here at Bloody Disgusting.

IFC Midnight Acquires Body Horror ‘Errors of the Human Body’
IFC Midnight has acquired North American rights to the weak sci-fi thriller Errors of the Human Body. Written and directed by Eron Sheean, who penned last year’s The Divide, Errors is said to be an unsettling, stylistically bold look at the personal and ethical horrors of modern genetic engineering, oscillating quite ambiguously between pure science and terrifying science fiction. It stars Michael Eklund.

[Fantastic Fest '12] 2012 AMD Next Wave Competition Films Announced!
Fantastic Fest, the largest genre film festival in the U.S., is pleased to announce the 2012 AMD Next Wave competition, which recognizes outstanding new talent in genre film directing. Eight films from seven different countries have been selected to compete in the latest installment of this annual international competition.
These up-and-coming filmmakers are at the beginning of their movie careers and may well become the next generation of talent to shape the film industry for decades to come. The winning filmmaker will be awarded a $1,000 cash prize and AMD based computer hardware featuring their latest Accelerated Processing Unit (APU). The AMD Next Wave awards will be the final presentation at the annual Fantastic Fest Awards presentation on Monday, September 26th at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar.
The winner of last year’s AMD Next Wave competition, Bullhead, was acquired by Drafthouse Films and went on to receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film. Director Michaël R. Roskam was heralded for his incredibly artful and original vision and has been compared to a young Martin Scorsese.

[News Bites] Del Toro Updates ‘Haunted Mansion’, ‘The Shining’ Gets Full Release And International ‘Errors’ One-Sheet
Our friends at Collider caught up with the overextended Guillermo del Toro who shared a brief update on his version of Walt Disney’s The Haunted Mansion. In short, he’s playing the waiting game…again. “I delivered my last draft five weeks ago,” he tells the site. “I have a meeting with them in three weeks. I know they like the screenplay. I need to meet with them in three weeks. That’s what I know. I know their reaction to the draft was good. We have a bunch of conceptualist art, but you never know, to predict anything else is hard for me to know.” He also reveals that he never intended on directing, which comes as a shock. “I came on board originally as a writer and producer, the decision I think they may be waiting, is for me to say I’m directing the movie. Or am I directing it next, which is too early for me to know what I’m doing next in live-action. I’m in the middle of Pacific Rim and I don’t know what I’m going to do next.”
Those of you in UK prepare for the ultimate treat. Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, starring Jack Nicholson, will reach a fresh generation of cinema-goers here as the British Film Institute plans to roll it out theatrically in the fall. The BFI said it plans to release the U.S. version of the film – never before released in the U.K. – for Halloween this year, says THR. The U.S. version is 144 minutes long, some 24 minutes longer than the European version previously released here in 1980. Based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel, Kubrick’s tale of a family man and would-be writer (Nicholson) going mad as winter caretaker of the cursed Overlook Hotel is a seminal work of the genre. In the run-up to Halloween, Kubrick’s original trailer, newly re-mastered ahead of the release, will also unspool in British theaters. The U.S. version of The Shining will also screen here courtesy of Warner Bros.

[Fantasia '12] Lonmonster’s Mini-Reviews #3: ‘Killer Joe’, ‘Memory Of The Dead’ & ‘Error Of The Human Body’
The 16th annual Fantasia Film Festival is underway in Montreal, Canada. The festival is so packed this year that it’s overwhelming to even begin looking at the film schedule. The horror lineup spans across subgenres and budgets and this is precisely what makes Fantasia so special. Giving equal attention to major productions and low budget indie films, Fantasia has something for everyone.
In its 16th year, there are over 160 screenings during the three-week festival, and it would be insane to even attempt reviewing them all. I’ve been running to the various theaters to catch each flick, and I still can’t watch them all. Although it would be ideal to write full reviews, it would take way too many days, and way too many cups of coffee. What follows are mini-reviews on what I’ve seen so far at Fantasia 2012 including The Victim, The Human Race, Memory Of The Dead, and Error Of The Human Body.

[FrightFest '12] The Best of the Rest: Hi-Res Looks At ‘After’ ‘Remnants’ ‘Errors of the Human Body’ & More!
Did I hear you say you wanted more out of the forthcoming Film4 FrightFest? Taking place Thursday, August 23 to Monday, August 27, the UK’s leading event for horror fantasy fans will be back at the Empire Cinema in London’s Leicester Square to present 48 films in three screens. We’ve already covered Paco Plaza’s [REC]3 Genesis and Jaume Balaguero’s, stunning thriller Sleep Tight to death, but there’s a few films getting some well-deserved attention from such as Hidden in the Woods, a Chilean chiller, the Dutch Kill Zombie!, the Japanese Dead Sushi and Germany’s Errors of the Human Body and We Are the Night.

Film4 FrightFest the 13th is delighted to unveil its most ambitious line-up in history. From the sensational Sinister starring Ethan Hawke, the Sam Raimi produced The Possession and Jennifer Chambers Lynch’s jaw-dropping Chained, to the Maniac remake, the surgical underground of American Mary and the V/H/S anthology everyone is talking about, this year’s event is definitely something to scream about.

The film tells the story of a scientist with a tragic past who works on a human regeneration project in the hopes of finding redemption.
The cast includes Michael Eklund, Germany’s Karoline Herfurth and Tomas Lemarquis.
Sheean makes his feature directorial debut from a script he co-wrote with former Edinburgh Film Festival director Shane Danielsen. Sheean co-wrote Xavier Gens’ upcoming SXSW world premiere The Divide.
