[Toy Fair '12] NECA Round Up: ‘RoboCop,’ ‘Gremlins,’ ‘Resident Evil’ & ‘E.T.’

[Toy Fair 12] NECA Round Up: RoboCop, Gremlins, Resident Evil & E.T.

Rounding out the big reveals from the New York Toy Fair, NECA has gone hog wild with the franchises starting with the killer new E.T. line. There are a handful of versions, but unfortunately no Elliott to punch in the face.

NECA continues to dive deeper into their Gremlins line, which fills me with rage that I’m broke and don’t have a 30 room house to put all of these toys in. There’s a handful of new Mogwai toys, alongside new Gremlins such as the electric one and the one that looks like a green Jennifer Lopez. Hot!

Inside you’ll also find screens of a battle damaged RoboCop and “Vector” from Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City and a trio of toys based on Lionsgate’s forthcoming The Hunger Games (because there’s nothing cooler than toys of faceless actors doning stupid weapons from the future). READ MORE

It’s Friday and therefore it’s time for the weekend to get it’s ass into high gear! How about you start it up with some ET from Katy Perry! WHOA WHOA WHOA! Before you crucify me, let me finish by saying that it’s a badass djent-metal background with only her vocals and that it kicks ass! Plus, the guy playing guitar (YouTube user TheNocturnal666), is wearing a Weland/Yutani shirt. How freaking sweet is that?! Check out the video below and download a copy for free here. READ MORE

[OMFG] Original Mash-Up Of Linkin Park And Katy Perry

So, 99.9999% of the time I post mash-ups, they’re some awesome metal rendition of a pop song. Instead, what we have here today (courtesy of BurnTheBlueSky), is a beautiful mixture of Linkin Park‘s Waiting For The End and Katy Perry‘s ET. Featuring two guys on a piano and three back-up singers (their appearance is rather amusing), the mix of the two songs is surprisingly effective and really something special.

Check it out after the jump!

VersaEmerge Cover Katy Perry’s ET

Katy Perry‘s latest video for ET is one hell of a visual feast. Looking at it, it’s a sci-fi horror in the style of Guillermo Del Toro, meaning that there is a sense of beauty and wonder amidst the fear. However, as a song, it doesn’t really speak to me. That’s where the below cover by VersaEmerge comes in. SuperRadMike turned me onto this and it’s a beautiful, emotional rendition that is simple yet powerful. Check after the jump for the original video and two badass rock covers.
