[TV] Two More Added To “American Horror Story: Coven”
FX’s “American Horror Story: Coven“ has added two Hollywood legends for its third season.
Co-creator and executive producer Ryan Murpy announced via Twitter that Oscar nominee Angela Bassett (Boyz n the Hood, Malcom X, Strange Days), pictured above, and Patti LuPone (Witness, Driving Miss Daisy), below, have joined the Coven.
They star next to Frances Conroy, Taissa Farmiga, Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Gabourey Sidibe with the third season premiering this October.

[TV] Could “American Horror Story: Coven” Have Cast Their First Witch?
While we already know that many of the previous cast will be returning, the Hollywood Reporter has a newcomer for FX’s “American Horror Story: Coven“.
Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe (Precious), pictured below, has been added to the cast of the third season of the FX anthology series, showrunner Ryan Murphy revealed Monday.
“Thrilled to announce Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe is joining the cast of ‘American Horror Story: Coven,’” Murphy tweeted.
Sidibe joins a cast that includes new addition Kathy Bates and returning players Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Taissa Farmiga, Frances Conroy and Lily Rabe.

[TV] FX Promises Halloween Event For “American Horror Story: Coven”
A big of non-news for those who are as obsessed with Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s “American Horror Story” as I am.
FX announced today that the third season, titled “American Horror Story: Coven,” will debut once again this Halloween “per tradition”. There will be no shift in dates, so expect it to split up once again through the holidays.
Series creator Ryan Murphy recently made the announcement that actress Kathy Bates will be going head-to-head with Jessica Lange for this installment.
Frances Conroy, Taissa Farmiga, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters also return to the series that (obviously) tells the tale of a coven of witches.
What would you guys like to see new or done differently with the next season?

Last night at Paleyfest creator Ryan Murphy announced that “American Horror Story: Season 3″ is now called “American Horror Story: Coven”. I’m sure we can expect plenty of the narrative non-sequiters we’ve come to expect along with lots of weird sexuality and general batshittery. And I’m stoked!!!
The only thing I’m still curious about it the time period, when does the main storyline take place? I’m dying for something present day again for some reason. We also know that the season will be more “female centric”, which I’ve got no problem with. And that Kathy Bates’ character will be more evil that anyone she’s ever playing, including Annie Wilkes, which I’m also OK with.
Jessica Lange, Frances Conroy, Kathy Bates, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Taissa Farmiga will all star. It will shoot in New Orleans and air on FX.
[TV] Is Season 3 Of “American Horror Story” About Salem Witches? Perhaps With A Modern Day Twist?
Last week we reported that Kathy Bates had been added to the cast of “American Horror Story: Season 3″ as a character that used to be a friend of Jessica Lange’s character, but is now an enemy. Then a few days ago, Murphy spilled “Oh, Kathy’s never [played] someone this bad,” Ryan Murphy revealed to TVLine. “Her [character] is a bad, bad woman! Five times worse than [her] Misery character…When I pitched this to Kathy, her mouth was drop-jawed because what I was pitching actually happened. It’s a true event…” True event, huh?
Then at Paleyfest Dylan McDermott spilled, ““She really is. All the witches of Salem…there’s plenty of them!” That’s certainly in keeping with Murphy’s assertions that the season will be a more female-centric story. But what about his comments that Lange will be playing “glamour cat leading lady“. Did they really have those back in the day at Salem? I suppose it’s possible that he’s referring to how she would appear to others within the context of that time – but AHS just got done with a period season, and I was under the impression that they want to do something more modern day this time out. Of course, the “true event” factor sort of doubles back on that – maybe, and I’m just guessing here, there are two timelines in the show? One period and one modern?

[TV] Kathy Bates To Inflict Misery Upon Jessica Lange In “American Horror Story: Season 3″
So far the casting for “American Horror Story: Season 3″ has mainly consisted of series vets coming back for another round. So it’s sort of refreshing to see some new blood make its way into the show (as much as I like the established cast). Per TVLine, Kathy Bates (Misery, Titanic) will be joining the series as a nemesis to Jessica Lange’s character, “Bates will play the best friend of Lange’s new character, who turns into her enemy.”
That’s certainly in keeping with creator Ryan Murphy’s feisty remarks that this will be a female-centric season with Lange in the center as some kind of ““glamour cat leading lady.” That’s fine by me. I preferred seeing outrageous characters in normal confines in the 1st season and thought that the 2nd season suffered by providing a crazy context for its crazy characters. Let them loose, I say.

The casting for “American Horror Story: Season 3″ continues chugging along, this time with AHS vet Frances Conroy (“Six Feet Under”) back in tow. I really like how this is sort of a troupe, the setting may change but the performers are more or less consistent.

[Editorial] A Look Back At “American Horror Story: Asylum”!
This year’s season of American Horror Story has finally arrived at an ending, and what a wild ride it’s been. Unlike season one, which often felt like it was being written by a deeply stupid child, American Horror Story: Asylum offered a more thought-out story with the added weight of minor themes and emotional resonance, as though it had been written by a deeply stupid teenager. It was a better show. Maybe a less accidentally entertaining show, but a better show all the same.
Now all we can do is shift through the bones of “American Horror Story: Asylum“ and see what we turn up. Warning: None of this will make sense to those who have not seen the show, and only 30% will make sense to those who have. READ MORE

Will a major spoiler warning in advance, concept designer Jerad S. Marantz has hit his blog with several pieces of art from this past season of FX’s “American Horror Story: Asylum.”
The insane gallery features looks at Bloody Face, the teased aliens, as well as some tragic victims of Dr. Arden’s experiments.
The concepts were created for makeup FX artist Christian Tinsley. “Coming up with the look and feel of these characters is a collaborative effort and I love how the project pushes Design further every year. As I continue to struggle through the bland and ominous season finale of “American Horror Story: Asylum,” FX has released a behind-the-scenes look at episode 12, “Continuum,” which aired last week.
In “Continuum”, which aired January 16, “A deadly new inmate threatens Sister Jude’s (Jessica Lange) chance of release from Briarcliff. Grace’s (Lizzie Brocheré) obsession with the aliens turns violent.”

[TV] Guess Who’s Coming Back To “American Horror Story”
Ok, considering the photo above I suppose you already guessed. With “American Horror Story: Asylum concluding tonight it’s never too early to start talking about next season. We already know that “American Horror Story: Season 3″ will feature returning cast members Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters. But in some great news it appears as if Taissa Farmiga is in talks to leap back into Murphy land.
Ryan Murphy proclaims (via EW), “ “I missed her this season. There wasn’t really a role for her. I feel very protective of her and I didn’t want her to go back into the loony bin—it was too dark. So I thought well ‘I want Taissa to be one of the leads next year.’ I called her up and pitched her the character for the season and she loved it and she said, ‘Yes let’s do it.’ So we’re in negotiations for her to headline season 3.”

For those who have yet to enter the asylum, this is the kind of clip that will turn you off from ever watching FX’s “American Horror Story: Asylum“ – but it shouldn’t be taken out of context.
In the clip from this past Wednesday’s episode, Sister Jude Martin, played by Jessica Lange, has just had electroshock therapy and has thus gone into a state of euphoria. From it comes a bizarre rendition of “The Name Game.”
