Remember that Radiohead video for House of Cards? You know, the one that was shot with no cameras or lights, just lasers and a fancy system to pick it all up? Well, Evile have released a video for Cult, which comes off their upcoming album Five Serpent’s Teeth, and it’s, in my opinion, a much cooler take on this idea.
Check it out after the jump and let me know who you think did it better, Radiohead or Evil?
Evile Guitarist Ol Drake decided that Lady Gaga‘s Born This Way just wasn’t heavy enough. And given that Lady Gaga has a serious love of Judas Priest, Ol Drake decided to do a metal cover that had a very Priest-y style. Check it out below and enjoy!
Evile, the band responsible for one of the hardest tracks in Rock Band history, are entering the studio this weekend to record their third album. The band will again be working with producer Russ Russel (Napalm Death, Dimmu Borgir). All of that aside, have any of you beaten ‘Thrasher’??? That song is ridiculous!
Earache records have announced the release of ‘Extreme Stage Diving’, a FREE game for iPhone and iPod Touch that features ten full-length blistering metal tracks for you to beat the ever living crap out of those damn stage divers. The object is to throw the stage diver off the stage as far as you can while avoiding bottles, merch stands and portable toilets. Want your FREE copy? Just click HERE! Also, check after the jump for the full track listing of the game.
LA underground black metal act, Lightning Swords of Death are pleased to release the track listing and cover art for the band’s upcoming Metal Blade debut The Extra Dimensional Wound, out May 25th. The Extra Dimensional Wound was recorded in Corona, CA at Trench Studios with Roska from the band producing and John Haddad handling engineering duties, and was mixed and mastered by Sverker “Necro” Widgren at Necromorbus Studios in Stockholm Sweden.
Highly distinguished Dutch death metal greats, God Dethroned, have recently released what is being heralded as one of the best albums of their long career in Passiondale. On the heels of this release, Metal Blade has extended God Dethroned’s contract yet again to continue putting out some of the most intense and unique death metal albums from one of the genre’s best bands.
God Dethroned will be campaigning across North America once again. This time, they’ll be supporting Overkills’ 25th Anniversary Killfest tour throughout April. The tour starts April 1st in Philadelphia at the Trocadero.
Los Angeles thrash titans Warbringer just completed a massive European tour and have now set their sights back on North America as they prepare to embark on a cross-country tour with genre legends Overkill alongside Vader, God Dethroned, Evile and Woe of Tyrants. Be sure to visit www.myspace.com/warbringer to view their complete, rigorous touring itinerary.
John Laux (guitars) further states: “Just finishing up our latest European tour, which was definitely a ‘whirlwind’. We’ve spent the past two months all over Europe, doing five weeks of shows with Evile and then three weeks of headlining dates, mainly focusing on Eastern Europe. The conditions were rough as we did our own dates crammed into a van with seven people and all of our gear. Also, the weather just seemed to get colder and colder. Fortunately no one got too sick and all the fans who came out each night made every gig worthwhile. It was cool to venture into countries like Poland, Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia and Hungary. We were happy to try a lot of the local food, wine and beer. We’ll have a lot of great memories from this run.
Last year EVILE recorded a cover of “Cemetary Gates” for Metal Hammer’s Dimebag Darrel tribute album, and now you can grab it exclusively on iTunes.
Guitaris Ol Drake commented “Finally, people who don’t have the amazing Dimebag tribute issue, put out by Metal Hammer, can now download our cover of ‘Cemetery Gates’ on iTunes. Not only that, but you can also get the Japanese version of ‘Time No More’, only recently available on the Japanese release of ‘Infected Nations’.
“It was such an honour to be a part of the Dimebag tribute, and doing this track really meant a lot to Mike.
“I recently had the pleasure of speaking to Rex [Brown, PANTERA bassist] about a few things, from the ‘Gates’ cover which he enjoyed, to coping with a loss.
So, instead of pummeling you guys with three small, separate stories, I figured I’d throw these three together to save you some time AND to get you some cool info! Read on to check out an interview with The Cult’s Johnny Tempesta, an article about GWAR’s Oderus Urungus, and lastly, a little blurb about the new Lazarus AD music video.
