Bilateral, the third studio album from Leprous, is easily one of my favorite releases this year (review here). The mix of prog with metal combined with a vintage feel but a modern sound all came together to create an album that I just cannot stop listening to. So I was beyond excited when I got the opportunity to chat with vocalist/keyboardist Einar Solberg. We discussed the album, the sounds and tones used, the artwork, and Einar’s thoughts on horror. Check it all out after the jump!
Today brings the last interview from the 2011 Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival stop in Clarkston, MI: Shannon Larkin of Godsmack! Since he and I already did a phone interview earlier this year where we discussed the future of Godsmack and his love of horror, this interview focused on the Mayhem festival, which Shannon called the best tour of his career!
Today’s Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival interview is with Megadeth guitarist Chris Broderick, who joined the band nearly four years ago alongside original bassist David Ellefson (who we interviewed last year), Shawn Drover, and of course, Dave Mustaine. We spoke about the new album, TH1RT3EN, who he would love to see play on the 2012 Gigantour, his thoughts on the Jag Panzer break up and the Nevermore situation, and his thoughts of horror. Check out the exclusive interview after the jump!
Did you know that Trevor Phipps, singer of Unearth, is a huge horror fan? I mean a HUGE horror fan! This guy loves watching horror movies like there is no tomorrow! So, after the jump, you can check out an exclusive interview where I caught up with Trevor at the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Fest 2011 to chat solely about his love of horror.
Tomorrow brings the release of In Waves, the fifth studio album from Trivium. Though I wasn’t able to meet up with the guys at the Rockstar Mayhem Festival, I did get the chance to talk with Matt via phone a week ago to discuss the new album, how some of the biggest directors of today influence him, touring plans and Matt’s love of horror. Check out the exclusive interview after the jump!
Five Finger Death Punch are undoubtedly one of the biggest acts in the hard rock/metal scene today and the proof is in their latest single, Under and Over It. The track was number one on iTunes and when news of its release came out, the FFDP server crashed due to the overwhelming number of listeners and supporters. Already, it’s making its way to becoming the most requested rock song on radio stations all over the country.
With the release of Mosh N’ Roll yesterday, the sixth studio album from metalcore outfit Bury Your Dead, Bloody-Disgusting had the chance to catch up with guitarist Brendan ‘Slim’ MacDonald to discuss the new album and, of course, some good ole’ fashioned horror. If you haven’t had the chance to check out the album, I suggest you do so. Warning: you might want to kick some ass afterwards (and possibly during).
One of the most talked about monthly running horror stories of the past 5 years has been without a doubt Michael Alan Nelson’s “28 DAYS LATER” from BOOM! Studios. The series has been nothing short of a hit since its debut in July of 2009, but as is the case with all things, the series was recently announced to be coming to an end later this Summer with issue #24. This past week I was lucky enough to catch up with Michael and take a look back on the series with its scribe, and also to discuss the final issues leading up to the series’ thrilling conclusion. Read on for the skinny…
Bloody-Disgusting has scored an exclusive interview with Nick and Lech of tech-metal band As Blood Runs Black. The guys are currently on the Atticus Metal Tour III with Born of Osiris, Darkest Hour, and The Human Abstract. They also recently released their sophomore album, ‘Instinct‘. Check after the jump for the exclusive interview where they chat touring, the new album, horror and, probably most importantly, Playboy.
Top Cow has teamed up with Joshua Hale Fialkov, and Rahsan Ekedal to present “ECHOES”. This sharply written story takes you inside the head of Brian Cohn, a man dealing with Schizophrenia among a multitude of other issues. The third installment of this five issue series is scheduled to hit shelves on the 23rd of this month.
WARNING: The Following Interview Contains Spoilers
