If you haven’t already heard about Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, then you should take a seat if you aren’t already lounged. You like the 80′s right? Who doesn’t?! 80′s action and sci-fi movies? You like them too I’m sure. Well Blood Dragon is an incredible nod to many of your favorites from the 80′s. Take my WORD for it. Head past the break to check out an awesome walk through of some of the game so you can get yourself jazzed up about it. It comes out April 30th in North America and May 1st in Europe. You can also pre-order the incredible soundtrack HERE on iTunes.
Thanks to Lonnie for the heads up on this. Coming May 1st as a standalone downloadable game is Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. From the video it seems it doesn’t actually have anything to do with Far Cry 3, though there could be some nods later in the game. The guys over at IGN got a chance to check out the first 15 minutes of the game, and god damn does it look like fun. The game gives off a hardcore 80′s action movie vibe, and it’s hilarious and knows it. Right off the bat from the music, to achievements to the dialogue, it starts referencing some of classics from that magical era. Check out the video past the break. Trust me it’s worth watching through to the end.
Adam and TJ finally return from their trip to the mountains where they got caught in a massive cave in. Things definitely got a little weird and they will probably never be the same. They did however record a new Dead Pixels podcast, where they discussed many things. They flew way off subject and talked about some movies they saw recently. They also discussed their list of the best horror games of 2012. They also went pretty deep into the world of horror games from the Playstation 1 and 2. They even went back in time and searched horror on the Atari and Colecovision. The boys get weird as usual, but that’s what you guys like best about the podcast. Right? READ MORE
With its emphasis on co-op and light RPG elements, Dead Island is one of the more interesting takes on the popular zombie genre we’ve seen from a big budget game in some time. I enjoyed the original quite a bit, despite its flaws. The story and characters may be alarmingly dull, but there’s nothing quite as satisfying as strapping a car battery to a machete so you can mow down a horde of zombies. I recently bought Far Cry 3 (finally), and I’ve realized that the entire time I’m playing it, all I can think about is how many things it does better than Dead Island. Comparing it to the post-apocalyptic zombie game might seem a bit odd at first, but the two games are actually very similar.
Each game violently tosses you into a hostile world where pretty much everything wants to kill you, and usually in horribly brutal ways — only yesterday I was mauled by a bear as I was stalking two pirates on a beach only to jump into the ocean and get eaten by a shark. Both games are about exploration, survival, and scavenging to survive, though Far Cry 3 puts more effort into the all of that. So while they’re different, they’re also really similar. The big difference is Far Cry 3 is far superior to Dead Island in many ways. To remedy this, I’ve chosen six things Far Cry 3 does really well, so Dead Island can take notes. Check them out after the break.
Because so many websites and publications have Game of the Year awards that cover many games across many different genres, we created the FEAR Awards, which since its inception back in 2009 has recognized the best and worst horror (and horror adjacent) games of the year. Unfortunately, this means we miss many excellent games. To remedy this, I’m going to recognized this year’s best non-horror games right now. Check them out after the jump!
I’ve been excited for Far Cry 3 since I saw the first trailer. I’m definitely very excited about it. But after seeing this video for the map editor, holy shit am I pumped. There is tons you can do, and while I love forging in Halo sometimes it’s nice to switch it up. Building towns on a beautiful island, building your own death trap animal filled multiplayer maps to murder your friends on? Oh yes. Check out the trailer past the break, and look out for the game releasing November 30th on the PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360.
There are a lot of multiplayer games out there nowadays. It’s even harder to introduce one into the mix without it failing miserably. Far Cry 3′s multiplayer looks pretty fun, but will it be able to stand up to the likes of Halo and Call Of Duty? I truly doubt it, but it could be fun to play while it lasts. Check out the multiplayer video past the break, and look out for Far Cry 3′s release November 30th on the PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360.
We were already introduced to the FREE Far Cry 3 map for the PC edition of Minecraft. I got so excited I almost bought Minecraft on the PC. But I did not. Below however, you can check out a short but sweet trailer that gives you a look into the beautifully crafted island. Download it for free right HERE.
Out today for Minecraft on the PC, is a Far Cry 3 inspired map and texture pack you can download for free. If they haven’t already released it for download, you should be able to download it right from the the official Far Cry website. You basically get to experience Minecraft as you would experience Far Cry 3. The map includes over 50 easter eggs, key FC3 locations, and even characters. Sounds like it’ll be pretty awesome, and it’s free. Screens past the break.
There is no doubt Far Cry 3 is a beautiful looking game. But beauty is only skin deep, and underneath this gorgeous island are secrets, enemies, a psychopath, and more. And if you want to know how to cut it out there you’re going to have to watch the video below. Far Cry 3 comes out December 4th in the U.S. on the PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360.
Something pretty awesome aside from the super awesome looking storyline in Far Cry 3 is its 4 player co-op mode. You and 3 friends can experience something completely different from the campaign, as you work together to take out the captain of a ship. Head past the break to see an awesome trailer for the co-op campaign, and some screens. Look out for Far Cry 3 December 4th on the PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360.
E3 is coming quick. Next week to be exact, but some companies like to start rolling out some teasers, and previews, and screenshots early. So stay tuned to Dead Pixels so you don’t miss a thing, because there is going to be a lot going on. 1st up, a teaser trailer for Far Cry 3. A teaser for what? I’m not really sure, but I’ll let you know as soon as I find out. Check it out past the break!
Looks like us USA’ers are getting snubbed as far as the Far Cry 3 Insane Edition is concerned, but we deserve to be put in our places every now and again. Mainly because we seem to get a lot of special items and specials those overseas don’t. Head past the break for the details on the Insane Edition and a totally insane video for the special edition.
Far Cry 3 is chock full of crazies. More games need crazy. The trailer below takes you on a little trip through drug town. It also shows more of how awesome the game is looking off. I played the 1st game and immediately dismissed the series. But this game could be the redeemer.
The 1st couple Far Cry 3 videos I’ve seen have been amazing. Totally got me hooked from the get go. The only downside is I hadn’t seen any gameplay, until now. It looks super fun. Lots of action, blood, explosions, killing, tripping balls. What more could I ask for? Naked skanks? I’ll leave that up to Lollipop Chainsaw. Watching gameplay however is never the same as experiencing it. So here’s to hoping the game is as fun as it looks.
September 4th, on the PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. READ MORE
We haven’t seen much since Far Cry 3′s amazing launch trailer, but I have to say that trailer alone sold me on the game. Well the trailer below is getting me even more excited. I someday hope to become rich somehow so I can ake many awesome vacations. However, video games lately are making me never want to leave my house. Check out the trailer below and see why.
Yikes, right? Far Cry 3 comes out this September for the PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. New screens past the break! READ MORE
I enjoyed Far Cry 2 for its visuals, massive open world and because it gave me the ability to pretend like I was a complete badass on the run from every other human on the planet. The next game looks to be tightening up the story a bit, which is a good thing since I don’t remember a single thing about the last game’s plot other than I must’ve done something to piss someone off since literally every person around me wanted me dead. The video below is a demo from E3 and it gives us a taste of what we can expect from the full game.
Side note: Dan Hay has one of the manliest voices I’ve ever heard. I don’t know about him, though he sounds like a wrestler/boxer/hitman, but I’m pretty sure his voice could kick my ass. Far Cry 3 doesn’t have a release date but we know it’s coming this year for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, and I’m very much looking forward to it. READ MORE
