‘Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon’ Perfectly Spiced With That 80′s Flair You’ve Been Missing

Thanks to Lonnie for the heads up on this. Coming May 1st as a standalone downloadable game is Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. From the video it seems it doesn’t actually have anything to do with Far Cry 3, though there could be some nods later in the game. The guys over at IGN got a chance to check out the first 15 minutes of the game, and god damn does it look like fun. The game gives off a hardcore 80′s action movie vibe, and it’s hilarious and knows it. Right off the bat from the music, to achievements to the dialogue, it starts referencing some of classics from that magical era. Check out the video past the break. Trust me it’s worth watching through to the end.

[Podcast] Adam And TJ Talk The Best Games Of 2012 In The New Dead Pixels

Adam and TJ finally return from their trip to the mountains where they got caught in a massive cave in. Things definitely got a little weird and they will probably never be the same. They did however record a new Dead Pixels podcast, where they discussed many things. They flew way off subject and talked about some movies they saw recently. They also discussed their list of the best horror games of 2012. They also went pretty deep into the world of horror games from the Playstation 1 and 2. They even went back in time and searched horror on the Atari and Colecovision. The boys get weird as usual, but that’s what you guys like best about the podcast. Right? READ MORE

Six Lessons ‘Dead Island’ Can Learn From ‘Far Cry 3′

With its emphasis on co-op and light RPG elements, Dead Island is one of the more interesting takes on the popular zombie genre we’ve seen from a big budget game in some time. I enjoyed the original quite a bit, despite its flaws. The story and characters may be alarmingly dull, but there’s nothing quite as satisfying as strapping a car battery to a machete so you can mow down a horde of zombies. I recently bought Far Cry 3 (finally), and I’ve realized that the entire time I’m playing it, all I can think about is how many things it does better than Dead Island. Comparing it to the post-apocalyptic zombie game might seem a bit odd at first, but the two games are actually very similar.

Each game violently tosses you into a hostile world where pretty much everything wants to kill you, and usually in horribly brutal ways — only yesterday I was mauled by a bear as I was stalking two pirates on a beach only to jump into the ocean and get eaten by a shark. Both games are about exploration, survival, and scavenging to survive, though Far Cry 3 puts more effort into the all of that. So while they’re different, they’re also really similar. The big difference is Far Cry 3 is far superior to Dead Island in many ways. To remedy this, I’ve chosen six things Far Cry 3 does really well, so Dead Island can take notes. Check them out after the break.

Ten Worthy Game Of The Year Contenders You Won’t See In Our FEAR Awards

Because so many websites and publications have Game of the Year awards that cover many games across many different genres, we created the FEAR Awards, which since its inception back in 2009 has recognized the best and worst horror (and horror adjacent) games of the year. Unfortunately, this means we miss many excellent games. To remedy this, I’m going to recognized this year’s best non-horror games right now. Check them out after the jump!

Get Acquainted With ‘Far Cry 3′s’ Multiplayer

There are a lot of multiplayer games out there nowadays. It’s even harder to introduce one into the mix without it failing miserably. Far Cry 3′s multiplayer looks pretty fun, but will it be able to stand up to the likes of Halo and Call Of Duty? I truly doubt it, but it could be fun to play while it lasts. Check out the multiplayer video past the break, and look out for Far Cry 3′s release November 30th on the PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360.

Far Cry 3 Gameplay Looks Scary Fun

The 1st couple Far Cry 3 videos I’ve seen have been amazing. Totally got me hooked from the get go. The only downside is I hadn’t seen any gameplay, until now. It looks super fun. Lots of action, blood, explosions, killing, tripping balls. What more could I ask for? Naked skanks? I’ll leave that up to Lollipop Chainsaw. Watching gameplay however is never the same as experiencing it. So here’s to hoping the game is as fun as it looks.

E3: Far Cry’s E3 Demo Debut Is Insane(ly Awesome)

I enjoyed Far Cry 2 for its visuals, massive open world and because it gave me the ability to pretend like I was a complete badass on the run from every other human on the planet. The next game looks to be tightening up the story a bit, which is a good thing since I don’t remember a single thing about the last game’s plot other than I must’ve done something to piss someone off since literally every person around me wanted me dead. The video below is a demo from E3 and it gives us a taste of what we can expect from the full game.

Side note: Dan Hay has one of the manliest voices I’ve ever heard. I don’t know about him, though he sounds like a wrestler/boxer/hitman, but I’m pretty sure his voice could kick my ass. Far Cry 3 doesn’t have a release date but we know it’s coming this year for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, and I’m very much looking forward to it. READ MORE
