In the latest issue of Marvel’s “FEAR ITSELF”, Bucky was dealt a possibly fatal blow by Sin, and one that was just as much a call to arms for the entire Uni as we will likely see. That being said it should come as no surprise that Steve Rodgers, Bucky’s closest friend, has now joined the war and lifted the shield once again. Couple that with the return of Thor from Asgard, and it looks as if the war will only be heating up in the coming months. In the past couple of years Marvel Comics has done very little to make their “True Believers” proud when it comes to their big Summer blockbuster story-lines. Ever since the sub-par “hit” that was “CIVIL WAR” the publisher has continually rolled out bummer after bummer, and rarely have they cashed in on the checks they had written before the titles saw the light of day (here’s looking at you “HOUSE OF M”). However, for all of their mistakes, the shortcomings, and the ridiculously large amounts of wasted cash thrown by the way of stories like “SEIGE”, Marvel Comics has once again renewed readers’ faiths this year thanks to Matt Fraction’s brilliant “FEAR ITSELF”. This week will mark the release of the third issue in the standalone title’s run, and beyond the break you can get a 6 page preview and all of my ramblings as to why you shouldn’t let this one pass you by. I will gladly, and wholeheartedly go on record in saying that Marvel’s “FEAR ITSELF” is (thus far) living up to my (decidedly) low expectations. The major crossover has been just as good as Matt Fraction had promised, and this July “GHOST RIDER” will be roaring his way into the pages of Marvel’s epic story-arc for a brand spankin’ new, 40 page, one-shot! Straight from the floor of Wondercon 2011, today news broke during the Marvel panel that the publisher will once again be handing the stake over to scribe Victor Gischler (“CURSE OF THE MUTANTS”) for another vampire laced story-line, this time as part of the upcoming “FEAR ITSELF” event, with “HULK VS DRACULA”!
“Matt Fraction and the whole FEAR ITSELF team teed us up perfectly, [so Hulk] was less tricky,” he alludes. “Vamps in this particular situation are hovering in a gray area. Such powerful creatures walking that line can be a tricky thing. You’re not going to see Dracula jump up and yell ‘We’ve got to save the citizens!’ He’s just not built that way.” – Victor Gischler (Per -Comic Book Movie.com)
The first book will be hitting stands this September, and below you can get all the details on the series as well as a look at the cover art.

Marvel is hoping that they have a hit on their hands (Let’s face it – they need one at this point) with the newest major storyline from the publisher who brought you such classics as “THE CLONE SAGA”, “HOUSE OF M”, and “CURSE OF THE MUTANTS”, with “FEAR ITSELF”! I know you are excited, and so am I, if you cannot tell from my sheer elation for the fact that the clock is steadily ticking down until the April 27th release date for “TOMB OF DRACULA: THRONE OF BLOOD” issue #1. (Yawn) In any event, inside you can check out a 5 page preview of the book before it hits shelves next month. Read on for the skinny!
An image surfaced on CBR this morning that, as publisher Marvel Comics puts it, will cause you to never ‘look at vampires the same way again’. The pic is a teaser image for the all new ‘FEAR ITSELF’ storyline that begins this Spring, and if the following photo is any indication, then the heads are going to be rolling left and right. The book is to be titled ‘THRONE OF BLOOD: BIRTH OF A VAMPIRE’, and the photo contains an unidentified vamp standing before a very impressive mantle place. So far we have no idea on the identity of the character nor what this means for the characters involved, but whatever the case, the answers will be revealed this April.
