Coming out on November 26th for the XBOX 360 and the Sony Playstation 3, Splatterhouse is a reboot of the 1988 game of the same name for the TurboGrafx-16 (when was the last time you saw THAT system?). Apart from looking completely badass and very atmospheric, the developers have just released the track list for the licensed songs that will be making an appearance in the game. Recently, I got the opportunity to go to the Rockstar Mayhem Festival at the DTE Energy Theater (still known to me as Pine Knob) in Clarkston, Michigan. With headliner’s such as Korn, Lamb of God, Rob Zombie, Five Finger Death Punch, as well as supporting acts like Hatebreed, Chimaira, In This Moment, Norma Jean, and others, how could I not go? While there, I snagged several interviews which I will be posting daily throughout the week. Who were the interviews with? I guess you’ll have to find out! In the meantime, we’ve got a video of several artists with a message for YOU, the readers, as well as some pictures of a In This Moment, Chimaira, and Rob Zombie. Fans of Norma Jean won’t have to wait much longer to hear the bands’ fifth album ‘Meridional’ which will be released July 13th on Razor & Tie. ’Meridional’ revisits the abrasive and chaotic roots of classic Norma Jean while offering fans a dark experimental side – the band stretching out on moody, slow-burn jams. It is an album that finds the band comfortable in its legacy but progressive and bold in its creativity.

‘Meridional’ was recorded in February 2010 at Glow in the Dark Studios in Atlanta with producer Jeremy Griffith. The band recorded eleven official tracks for the record as well as a few extra bonus tracks and B-sides. Vocalist Cory Brandan described ‘Meridional’, “It’s a heavy record, multifaceted with epic sounding, experimental songs, some fast, chaotic songs, and some melodic, commanding interludes. Any track we didn’t think had reached its utmost sonic prowess was given a second look, revised to be as powerful as possible.”

Doc Coyle (guitars, vocals) further states: “This is quite a surprise to announce GOD FORBID’s participation in the Five Finger Death Punch, Shadows Fall and 2 Cents tour. This was a tour we were looking at when it was first being put together, so the fact that we eventually landed it, even though it was a last minute thing, is a stroke of good fortune. We do wish our friends in Throwdown well, and hope whatever happened turns out ok in the end. Big thanks to FFDP for bringing us out! We have become good friends with them over the last couple years, and the fact that they are making this huge gesture is awesome. We go all the way back with our brothers in Shadows Fall to our first tour in 2000, so this will be another trip around the rodeo with some old friends. We’ve never toured with 2 Cents, but know Adair from Manttis and the other guys seem super cool. Combined with the spring tour with Lamb of God and the summer Mayhem Festival, this will be the most successful US touring cycle GF has ever had, so it’s a big reason to be positive in 2010!
