We’ve got a new full length trailer for Season 8 of Showtime’s “Dexter” that quickly catches us up on the events of the previous seasons before launching in to some new footage. As disappointed as I’ve been in the show recently, I might as well check out this new stretch seeing as its the final one.

“Dexter” returns June 30 to Showtime (including Yvonne Strahovski reprising her role on the show) followed by the premiere of “Ray Donovan.”

Footage Of The Artillery Used To Attack The New ‘Godzilla’

Legendary’s now-filming Godzilla reboot, helmed by Monsters director Gareth Edwards, brought some heavy artillery to the streets of Vancouver and this local news report was there to capture some of the action.

Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Aaron Johnson, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn, Ken Watanabe and Richard T. Jones round out the cast. Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni will produce along with Mary Parent. Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont and Dave Callaham penned the script. Production is (obviously) currently underway.

Character descriptions, along with other plot details, are under wraps for now but sources say Jones would be playing a military figure. Warner Bros. will handle distribution on May 16, 2014.

‘World War Z’ Footage Preview! Director Marc Forster Addresses Reshoots, The Size Of The Film In Relation To The Book And The PG-13 Rating!

Last Friday, Paramount Pictures invited a group of journalists to the lot to check out about 20 minutes of footage from World War Z, which is out on June 21st. After a quick hello from Brad Pitt, we saw the 3D version of the trailer that’s hitting theaters today (it hit the web earlier this week), which actually looked pretty good for a post-conversion. Following the trailer we saw about 20 minutes of footage culled together from the first two acts of the film. Then we were given a group interview with director Marc Forster, during which he fielded the questions that have been on a lot of our minds during this film’s lengthy production process.

Starring Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz, James Badge Dale, Matthew Fox and David Morse all star in the film that “ revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop a pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.

The ‘You’re Next’ Trailer Is Here! And It’s Worth The Wait!!!

It’s funny – a March 28th trailer release for a movie that comes out on August 23rd is still fairly early. At least it’s not late late. Yet, because Lionsgate’s You’re Next has been anticipated for so long (due to the Summit/Lionsgate merger, not due to quality), it feels like it’s been an eternity. A lot of you have been asking us for the trailer for 18 months… so we’re just as stoked as you are that it’s finally here. And it’s great! I dig how the trailer sells the suspense and horror of the film without giving anything else away – there’s still a lot you haven’t seen (it’s relatively spoiler free in that regard). I also dig the moment when the chorus of “Perfect Day” comes back into the mix. From what I gather this is just the beginning of a pretty big marketing push.

Directed by Adam Wingard and written by Simon Barrett, the duo best known for A Horrible Way to Die, V/H/S and the forthcoming V/H/S/2, “You’re Next is one of the smartest and most terrifying films in years, one that reinvents the genre by putting a fresh twist on home-invasion horror. When a gang of masked, ax-wielding murderers descend upon the Davison family reunion, the hapless victims seem trapped…until an unlikely guest of the family proves to be the most talented killer of all.

Sharni Vinson (the upcoming Patrick remake), Nick Tucci (Choose, Undocumented), Wendy Glenn (11-11-11), AJ Bowen (A Horrible Way to Die, The House of the Devil, The Signal), Joe Swanberg (A Horrible Way to Die, V/H/S), Margaret Laney, Amy Seimetz (A Horrible Way to Die), Ti West (The Roost, The House of the Devil, The Innkeepers), Calvin Reeder (V/H/S, The Rambler), Larry Fessenden (Habit, The Last Winter), Kate Lyn Sheil (V/H/S), Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator, From Beyond and Castle Freak) and Rob Moran all star.

Take A Shining To This New ‘Lords Of Salem’ Clip

If nothing else, I’m sure this movie will look fantastic since every piece of footage I’ve seen has been incredibly visually appealing. AICN has a new clip from Rob Zombie’s The Lords of Salem, which stars Sheri Moon Zombie, Bruce Davidson, Jeffrey Daniel Phillips, Ken Foree, Patricia Quinn, Dee Wallace, Maria Conchita Alonso, Judy Gleeson, Meg Foster and Griffin Boice. And this new glimpse is more than a little Kubrickian.

From the singular mind of horror maestro Rob Zombie comes a chilling plunge into a nightmare world where evil runs in the blood. The Lords of Salem tells the tale of Heidi (Sheri Moon Zombie), a radio station DJ living in Salem, Massachusetts, who receives a strange wooden box containing a record, a “gift from the Lords.” Heidi listens, and the bizarre sounds within the grooves immediately trigger flashbacks of the town’s violent past. Is Heidi going mad, or are the “Lords of Salem” returning for revenge on modern-day Salem?

Here’s Brad’s review out of TIFF, as well as Mike’s more positive take. The Lords Of Salem is in limited theaters (New York, Los Angeles, Boston, San Francisco, Chicago, Philadelphia, DC, Miami, Dallas, Houston, Detroit) April 19 from Anchor Bay Films.

Teaser For James Wan’s ‘The Conjuring’ Looks Like Haunted Horror Done Right! Over A Dozen Images Added!!

I’ve begin to hate haunting/possession movies recently because nothing ever happens in them except a few people bending over backwards. Big deal, lots of people have scoliosis. But director James Wan (Saw, Insidious) The Conjuring (previously The Warren Files) looks like he’s aware of those pitfalls and is sidestepping them without sacrificing character. This teaser focusses almost exclusively on Lili Taylor’s character, so I imagine we’ll be getting that features the whole ensemble soon enough.

In particular I think the blindfold scare at the beginning is particularly well done. It’s a variation on a gag we’ve seen before, for sure, but it’s pulled off with confidence and restraint and as such wrings new scares out of it. I spent some time on the set of this movie last year and look forward to sharing that report with you in the coming months.

In the film, “Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, “The Conjuring” tells the horrifying tale of how world-renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.” Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Lili Taylor and Ron Livingston star.

This movie apparently had insanely high scores from test audiences, hence the summer release date. Wan is also busy filming Insidious Chapter 2 at the moment. Head inside for the trailer and images! Clap if you want more!!! READ MORE

[TV] Five New Minutes Of “Bates Motel” Footage Look Surprisingly Good!

Whoa! A lot of new footage for “Bates Motel”! And, I have to say, it doesn’t look all that bad. I’m even starting not to mind the contemporary setting. As long as the choice works, who cares? Below we have a new one minute teaser as well as an extended four minute sneak peek. Both are worth taking a gander at.

The series stars Academy Award nominee Vera Farmiga (“Up in the Air,” “The Departed”), Freddie Highmore (“Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “Finding Neverland”), Max Thieriot (“Disconnect”), Olivia Cooke (“Blackout”) and Nicola Peltz (“The Last Airbender”). Season one also co-stars Nestor Carbonell (“Lost,” “The Dark Knight Rises”) and Mike Vogel (“Pan Am”).

In “Bates Motel,” following the tragic death of her husband, Norma Bates buys a motel on the outskirts of the idyllic coastal town of White Pine Bay, seeking a fresh start. As Norma and Norman get ensconced in their new home, they discover this town isn’t quite what it seems, and the locals aren’t so quick to let them in on their secrets. But the Bates’ are done being pushed around and will do whatever it takes to survive – and will do whatever it takes to protect their own secrets.

On The A&E Network from executive producers Carlton Cuse (“Lost”) and Kerry Ehrin (“Friday Night Lights”) – the show debuts on Monday, March 18 at 10 PM ET/PT. READ MORE

New Featurette Takes You Inside ‘Mama’!

Gearing up for the January 18 release, Universal has released a new behind-the-scenes clip from Mama, the Guillermo del Toro-produced horror thriller about a group of feral children raised by something sinister. The video features interviews with Del Toro, Jessica Chastain and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau along with some new footage!

Five years ago, sisters Victoria and Lilly vanished from their suburban neighborhood without a trace. Since then, their Uncle Lucas (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and his girlfriend, Annabel (Jessica Chastain), have been madly searching for them. But when, incredibly, the kids are found alive in a decrepit cabin, the couple wonders if the girls are the only guests they have welcomed into their home. As Annabel tries to introduce the children to a normal life, she grows convinced of an evil presence in their house. Are the sisters experiencing traumatic stress, or is a ghost coming to visit them? How did the broken girls survive those years all alone? As she answers these disturbing questions, the new mother will find that the whispers she hears at bedtime are coming from the lips of a deadly presence.

Jessica Chastain, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Megan Charpentier, Isabelle Nélisse and Daniel Kash all star. The pic is based on a short of the same name and was directed by Andres Muschietti from a script he wrote with Barbara Muschietti. Head inside for the clip! READ MORE

New ‘Pacific Rim’ Trailer Boasts Additional Robot Action (If Not Much Else)!

Warner Bros. cut together a new trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim for Qualcomm’s CES event. This time around you see a little bit more of the monsters and quite a the bit more of the Jaeger robots. I’m sure we’ll be getting another trailer in the coming months that shows a lot more, but for now I’m cool with this revised take on the older one.

In the film, “When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

[TV] New “Bates Motel” Featurette Has First Look At Footage From The Show!

“Bates Motel,” the Psycho prequel from “Lost”‘s Carlton Cuse and “Friday Night Lights”‘ Kerry Ehrin, has just debuted a new featurette that highlights some actual footage from the show (the first real footage we’ve seen) along with some cast and crew interviews. If anything, it’s probably our best look yet at the tone and visual aesthetic we might be getting when this thing premieres next year.

“Bates Motel” serves as a contemporary prequel to the genre-defining film, “Psycho,” and promises to give viewers and intimate portrayal of how Norman Bates’ (Freddie Highmore) psyche unravels through his teenage years and just how deeply intricate his relationship to his mother, Norma (Vera Farmiga), truly is.

Freddie Highmore, Vera Farmiga, Max Thieriot, Nestor Carbonell, Mike Vogel, Nicola Pletz and Olivia Cooke also star. A&E is currently filming the series in Vancouver, for an early 2013 premiere.

[TV] Next On “The Walking Dead”, Does This Taiwanese Promo Have Massive Spoilers For The Midseason Finale?!

I seriously need to keep up with AMC’s The Walking Dead. I haven’t seen any of this season yet – so I can’t even tell what the potential spoiler here is (I also don’t remember Season 1 all that well, which could be a factor).

The struggle to survive has never been so perilous. The Apocalypse Is Here! The Full Trailer For ‘World War Z’!!!

This whole week we’ve been gearing up for war. Now we finally have the World War Z trailer. And, true to the footage we saw earlier, it looks huge. Definitely a very, very, very loose adaptation of the book. Back when running zombies were introduced to the horror vernacular I had no idea they’d eventually run so fast in film they’d look like cascading flood water. It almost feels like a Roland Emmerich touch. As for the rest of the trailer – it looks good, but nothing that I haven’t seen before in one way or another.

Directed by Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace), the adaptation of Max Brooks’ “World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War” stars Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz, James Badge Dale, Matthew Fox and David Morse.

In theaters June 21, 2013, “The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself. Enos plays Gerry’s wife Karen Lane; Kertesz is his comrade in arms, Segen.

Finally!!! The Official Trailer For The ‘Evil Dead’ Remake!!!

We got a shaky, blurry look at Fede Alvarez’s hotly anticipated Evil Dead remake earlier this month. While it was blurry and shaky due to its bootleg nature it revealed one thing – that the film will be supremely gory!!! And now, we have a clear look at the film. Bonus? Still super gory! And it uses the low-roving shots that we all know and love. Despite the more polished look, it feels very much like an Evil Dead movie to me. Specifically the first one, where it was five people and it wasn’t just about Ash!

In the remake starring Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Elizabeth Blackmore, Jessica Lucas and Bruce Campbell, “Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

‘Iron Man 3′ Trailer Already Better Than Anything In ‘Iron Man 2′

Nope. Not even remotely horror. But since this is the “Comics” page, we figured we’d be remiss in our duties to you if we didn’t report on some of the bigger comic-related news here and there – and the trailer for Iron Man 3 certainly qualifies. And I dig this trailer, it hints at a much more focussed (and darker) narrative than the utter mess that was . The fact that Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) is behind the wheel for this one gets me legitimately excited.

The film, “ pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Iron Man 3 stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley. It opens May 13th, 2013. Head inside for the trailer! READ MORE

Here It Is!! The Gory First Footage From The New ‘Evil Dead’!!!

The first look at Fede Alvarez’s hotly anticipated Evil Dead remake is here, and Sam Raimi would be proud (I know Bruce Campbell is). Sony debuted some footage from the film at this past weekend’s panel at the New York Comic-Con and the audience, in a word, went apesh*t. And now footage from the panel has surfaced. This reboot of the 1981 Sam Raimi classic The Evil Dead, looks nuts! While we’ll likely be getting a high-rez look at this footage soon, even this shaky representation lets us know we should be expecting something intense. Thanks to reader JillKills for the heads up.

In the remake starring Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Elizabeth Blackmore, Jessica Lucas and Bruce Campbell, “Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. Here’s The Teaser For The ‘Carrie’ Remake!!!

Sony held their NYCC panel over the weekend, during which they debuted the teaser for Carrie, their reboot starring Chloë Grace Moretz as the title character. And now? Now we have that teaser! And it looks surprisingly large in scope, actually. It primarily features voiceover amongst shots of an absolutely destroyed town, which kind of backs up the filmmakers’ promise that this is based more on the book than the DePalma film. In the book the town is almost completely destroyed. Maybe in the next one we’ll get more carnage – though this does feature a bloodied up Carrie (with the colors muted for green band trailer compatibility). You rating hounds don’t need to worry though, they’ve assured us that the film is R-Rated.

A reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom.” Brian De Palma’s 1976 film version of Carrie earned Oscar nominations for stars Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie.

And it appears that Ryan Turek from Shock Till You Drop was the first one to hook his player up and convert analog to digital! When a group of petty criminals is hired by a mysterious party to retrieve a rare piece of found footage from a rundown house in the middle of nowhere, they soon realize that the job isn’t going to be as easy as they thought. In the living room, a lifeless body holds court before a hub of old television sets, surrounded by stacks upon stacks of VHS tapes. As they search for the right one, they are treated to a seemingly endless number of horrifying videos, each stranger than the last.
