Continuity has never been a huge concern in the Friday The 13th franchise, but I don’t hold that up as necessarily being a bad thing. If these films were concerned with logic, they’d be way less fun – so I’m happy they celebrate inconsistency from the ground up!
While many F13 films do attempt to bridge with the past in regard to Jason’s mask (that cleaver mark in the forehead being the most prevalent), others completely disregard what came before. Sometimes his mask is clean, sometimes dirty. Sometimes it’s an entirely different design! And then you have Jason Goes To Hell, what the hell is going on there?! Is his face growing around the mask?
Check out the in-sequence collection below – and see if YOU can spot all the minor differences!!! READ MORE
Last week we reported that it seemed like all 12 Friday The 13th films would collected in a Blu-ray box set via Warner Bros. And today that sh*t has been confirmed!
All 12 films will be stretched across 10 discs, with 7 movies hitting the hi-def format for the first time. There will also be a bonus blu dedicated to special features and a 40 page companion book of highlights culled from Peter Bracke’s “Crystal Lake Memories.”
Head below for the details. It retails for $130 but I’d bet you could pick it up for 80 or so at Best Buy/Amazon. And remember, with WB retaining home video rights it only underscore that Paramount specifically got theatrical rights. I’d expect a new movie next year.

Matt Serafini over at Dread Central has done some ace detective work in regard to a potential Friday The 13th Blu-ray Box-set.
It all went down at the WB Shop Facebook Page and started back in February when the admin there noted, “there should be some news for Jason fans later in the year.” Then, on Tuesday, another fan followed up saying they wanted “Friday The 13th 1-8 On Blu Ray” for Christmas. The shop’s official reply? “You might get that and more if Santa is good to ya.”
It’s worth noting that now WB owns the home video rights for all 12 Jason films. It’s not the worst conclusion to jump to. If you can tell me off the top of your head which movie the pic of Jason above is from, you’re gonna want this in your life. READ MORE
I actually had the urge to put up this list immediately after my rankings of the Nightmare On Elm Street series a few weeks ago but then decided to hold off until today. After all, it’s an actual Friday The 13th and thus a far more appropriate date to commemorate the series.
What’s interesting about the Friday The 13th franchise – as opposed to A Nightmare On Elm Street – is that my personal rankings of it usually vary depending on what day you catch me. The overall shape of it remains fairly constant, but here and there certain entries have the ability to slide up or down a notch or two depending on my mood. I also don’t feel that there’s one perfect entry in the franchise. As much as I love most of these films, many of them are incredibly flawed – which is part of the charm for me and is also why I would completely understand the reasoning behind a list that was the exact opposite of mine.
With one huge exception, I tend to favor the days of pre-zombie Jason even though I have no particular stake in him being alive or undead. Maybe it’s the nostalgia factor but I find that there’s something innocent and comforting about those early days at Camp Crystal Lake. I could almost watch those movies without the kills. It also may have something to do with the fact that the characters in those latter films are coarse and even more thinly drawn than the earlier installments, which is saying something.
Anyway, head inside to see where I stand on the series! And – as always – let me know your own rankings in the comments! READ MORE
