A gaggle of resourceful Swedes have taken it upon themselves to remake the scariest scene from John Carpenter’s classic horror film, “The Thing”, using nothing but practical effects. And by practical effects, I mean a large majority of the props look like they were crafted from household items scavenged from a recently emptied crack den. The result is a short film that at just two and a half minutes long is already far superior to that terribad prequel Hollywood shat out back in 2011.
I play a lot of video games and I watch a lot of horror movies, but I never realized how many qualities some of gaming’s most iconic characters share with a few of our favorite horror film psychopaths. Kirby Krueger may be my favorite of the bunch, because it’s so obvious that it kind of bums me out I never saw the connection until now. If you’re more of a visual soul, Dorkly has you covered.

If you haven’t experienced the terrifying hide-and-seek indie horror game that is Outlast, you should get on that. It’s essentially a 6-7 hour-long adrenaline rush, complete with more gore and viscera than I’ve ever seen in a video game. We’re playing it all this week and the next on the Bloody Disgusting YouTube channel, but you know what our playthroughs lack? Drunken commentary.
Thankfully, the following Outlast playthrough, narrated by eleven toasted men looks to have plenty of that. It’s hilarious. READ MORE
Sometimes, a gaming session can get intense, or maybe you’re just the type of gamer who gets a little too immersed in those virtual worlds. It happens. There’s nothing wrong with it. Unfortunately, when the game is DayZ and the situation is a player pleading to another player not to murder them loud enough for their concerned neighbors to hear and call the cops because it sounds like someone is about to get murdered — that’s when it might be best to step away from the computer for a bit.
This situation happened recently for a group of players enjoying some time with DayZ, and thanks to the beauty of the Internet we can watch it and laugh after the jump. READ MORE
I should probably qualify that title with an “It’ll be the funniest thing you see today, if you’re a Resident Evil fan.” There we go. Now, if you fail to find any laughs, you can’t sue me.
This comedy short is brimming with inside jokes and nods to Resident Evil, some of which will only be gleaned by fans of Capcom’s horror series. I’m especially fond of the handgun with the “standard issue” three bullets, a potential problem that’s remedied by the fact that they’ve conveniently scattered ammunition about the facility. Actually, I take that back. Even if you’re not a fan of the series, there’s still a good chance this will be the funniest thing you watch today. READ MORE
I don’t want to take anything away from Vikki Blake’s fantasticreview of The Last Of Us, which you should most definitely read, but this is quite possibly the best review of the game I’ve seen so far.
Erin from Hot Pepper Game Reviews had the unfortunate duty of reviewing Naughty Dog’s latest game, the critically lauded survival horror game, The Last of Us. I say unfortunate, because a Hot Pepper game review can only kick off after the reviewer has eaten a pepper. In this case, it’s a Serrano Pepper. I couldn’t do this, but what I can do is watch her do it. You can too, after the break. READ MORE
The Xbox One reveal was a confusing mess that angered about as many people as it confused. It was a brief conference, but if you didn’t have the hour required to watch the full thing — you busy little bee — don’t worry, because I have a recap for you. Now you can get in the know in under two minutes. Check it out after the jump. READ MORE
Slow news days suck. They mean I don’t get to write quite as much as I’d like to and you don’t get a sufficient dose of gaming awesome that only Bloody Disgusting can provide. That’s why I’ve decided to remedy days like these with a swift kick to the face in a brand new series called Boredom Bytes. Whenever you see one of these you’ll know you’re about to be entertained, because hidden inside each of these will be a gooey center consisting of funny/weird/random videos and miscellaneous other byte-sized bites of gaming-related awesome. Head past the break for our first batch of funny, including an insanely catchy Halo song, some funky dancing in Skyrim, and a look at how badly it sucks to be a video game bad guy. READ MORE
E3 is over and the world is quiet again. I hope you enjoyed last week, really soaked it up, because with the exception of Lollipop Chainsaw (out today!), the next couple months are going to be dreadfully uneventful. I’ve always wondered what a Pac-Man film would look like and with retro games like Asteroids getting a film and even board games like Battleship, I knew there was a very good chance I’d eventually find out. Thankfully, the wait is over, and the result is more glorious than I could’ve ever dreamed of. Check it out after the break. READ MORE
I loved Limbo for its gloomy atmosphere, clever traps, and gorgeous, simple visuals. The whole black and white thing worked for it, but now that I’ve seen what the world really looks like I’m kind of wishing I had brought a flashlight with me on my second playthrough. Check it out below.
Talk about a Shyamalan twist! I have an irrational fear of spiders, a fear that ranks right below clowns in my list of things that I’d very much like to set on fire when I see them. But a playful, pink spider with big puppy dog eyes? Actually, no, I still totally want it dead. READ MORE
Last year, in a move that stunned and confused fans, Rob Zombie directed a commercial for Woolite. People were left scratching their heads, thinking, “A TV commercial? Really??” Then the commercial came out and everyone understood completely. And now the crew behind the spot wants to show you what exactly went into creating that eerie, horror-rific ad. Check it out below!
Thanks to the ever lovely Comcast my internet is down and I am tethering
my phones 4G in an attempt to stay up on the latest happenings on the intarwebz. So I here by appoint Sir Adam of Dodd the temporary Dead Pixels Editor In Chief until my triumphant return. Until then I will be giving you clever little fill in articles that my ghetto connection can handle. Like this video that the wonderous Jonathan Barkan sent me. Enjoy!
That’s about how I feel when a couple of kick ass games come out at the same time. READ MORE
A recent poll conducted by U.K. dating website Tastebuds.fm shows that people who listen to Metallica and Nirvana are far more likely to have sex on the first date, compared to people who listen to Coldplay and Lady Gaga. Well, yeah! I could’ve called that one a mile away! Who wants to bang it out to ‘Speed Of Sound‘ when you can rock out ‘Rape Me‘? Was that in poor taste? Meh, whatever.
So, Blabbermouth.net earlier reported that a 13-year old Norwegian boy was walking home from school when suddenly a pack of wolves came up to him. Too scared to run (which is definitely for the best), the boy whipped out his cell phone and started playing Creed’s ‘Overcome’. The wolves’ response? They turned around and went the other direction.
Damn, wolves are smarter than people give them credit for. I would’ve turned around and walked away too. Wolves, you have my respect.
Kanye West recently released the video for his single ‘Monster’, which I thought had great horror visuals and was a beautifully shot video. However, sometimes a re-imagining comes along that one ups the original. Many of you thought so of Matt Reeve’s ‘Let Me In’. So check out this video below and let us know if you think The Muppets did this justice.
The Lonely Island, the group responsible for ‘Jizz In My Pants’ and ‘I’m On A Boat’, is back! This time, they’re here to announce that they’ve just had sex. Seriously. Check out the video below, which features Akon, Blake Lively and Jessica Alba.
