[BEST & WORST '12] The Worst Trailers Of The Year!

If you’re reading this, perhaps you read my post about the year’s best trailers. Now it’s time to bring the hammer down on the worst. Like I’ve said before, marketing is an art form, and it’s just as eligible for appraisal as the product its selling.

The majority of these are from correspondingly awful movies, but occasionally you get that rare nugget of a trailer that’s actually for a good movie that it can’t seem to sell it at all. We’ve got a couple of those in here as well.

Head inside for the worst trailers of the year (in no particular order)! READ MORE

[BEST & WORST '12] Evan Dickson’s List Of The Worst Horror Movies Of 2012!

Writing for a genre site is funny sometimes. Since we keep things more or less related to horror around here, we wind up examining almost every movie that comes out that could be potentially associated with that genre. This means that I end up watching a lot of movies that are so bad many people are just flat-out unaware of their existence. So when I look around to sites that cover every genre – and therefore have a more mainstream cross-section from which to pull their “best” and “worst” lists – I’m always surprised at what stuff is worthy of the “worst” designation. I think to myself, “this guy named ‘Snow White And The Huntsman’ one of the year’s worst movies. That’s as bad as it got for him.” While I’m sure that film is terrible, I’d bet a major organ that it’s far better than Snow White: A Deadly Summer.

Speaking of, 2012 was a year filled to the brim with lazy, cynical horror movies made by people with no love for the genre – people who see horror as a cheap way to make a buck off a dedicated fanbase. This is a list of those movies (and a few that had their hearts in the right place but got mangled along the way) in no particular order. READ MORE

[BD Review] ‘Gone’ Is The Worst Major Release I Have Seen In My Adult Life

[BD Review] Gone Is The Worst Major Release I Have Seen In My Adult Life

Summit Entertainment ‘s Gone hits theaters today. I’m urging you not to go.

Every single character is such a vacant red herring without any semblance of human logic or emotion that I almost felt myself sliding into uncanny valley. Watching ‘Gone’ is like watching the world’s dumbest person play the world’s worst RPG side mission… it just chooses to be lazy. It chooses to be boring and bad. With so much in its corner you would think it could provide at least one single entertaining moment, but it willfully declines. And that is unforgivable. It chooses to take your money without the effort or intent of living up to its end of the bargain.

Directed by Heitor Dhalia, and also starring Emily Wickersham, Wes Bentley, Jennifer Carpenter, Erin Carufel, Sebastian Stan, and Socratis Otto, “the thriller revolves around a young woman named Jill (Seyfried) who returns home from her night shift to find her sister’s bed empty. She’s convinced the serial killer who kidnapped her two years before has come back to finish the job. But the police do not believe Jill, who knows time is running out. Don’t Go Messing With Amanda Seyfried In First ‘Gone’ Clipage

Dont Go Messing With Amanda Seyfried In First Gone Clipage

Summit Entertainment has released the first clip from Gone, their thriller starring Amanda Seyfried in theaters February 24. The clip pits Seyfried against two suspicious cops whom I’d bet are responsible for the kidnappings (or at least the one with stupid Twilight hair). Although, Wes Bentley is sort of typecast as “the villain”. Hmmm…..

The Only Thing Interesting About ‘Gone’ Is Amanda Seyfried

The Only Thing Interesting About Gone Is Amanda Seyfried

Hoping to clear my memory of this hideous poster, I’m staring intensely at Amanda Seyfried in the first two official images from Summit Entertainment’s Gone, their thriller in theaters February 24. They’re still pretty boring. Seyfried is the sole reason I still want to see this (who says star power is dead?) From the so-so trailer to these hum-ho stills, I think it’s safe to assume that we should be mildly “alarmed”.

Hideous One-Sheet for Amanda Seyfried Starrer ‘Gone’

Hideous One Sheet for Amanda Seyfried Starrer Gone

I just Gone and barfed all over my parent’s carpet.

The poster has premiered for Summit Entertainment’s Gone, the Heitor Dhalia-directed thriller starring Amanda Seyfried, Emily Wickersham, Wes Bentley, Jennifer Carpenter, Erin Carufel, Sebastian Stan, and Socratis Otto.

In theaters February 24, the one-sheet depicts a collage of Seyfried’s face, a mysterious woman and an even more mysterious intruder. At quick glance all I see are Seyfried’s “f*ck me eyes”. Hey, sex sells. I know a few people who’d hang this post on their ceiling. (Didn’t mean to go there. But yes, yes I did.)

Terrible Casting Gives Away ‘Gone’ Killer in Trailer Premiere

Terrible Casting Gives Away Gone Killer in Trailer Premiere

It’s been quite awhile since we’ve heard anything about Summit Entertainment’s serial killer genre pic Gone, but the silence has been broken with the trailer premiere for the Heitor Dhalia-directed thriller arriving in theaters February 24.

We’ve added the trailer below that’s 50% awesome and 50% god awful.

The thriller revolves around a young woman named Jill (Seyfried) who returns home from her night shift to find her sister’s bed empty. She’s convinced the serial killer who kidnapped her two years before has come back to finish the job. But the police do not believe Jill, who knows time is running out. With no one to turn to, she sets off to find her sister and face her abductor once and for all.

All of the footage featuring Amanda Seyfried is pretty compelling, and I enjoy the motivation that she has to take matters into her own hands to catch the killer. This leads me to what I hate about the trailer: the police. It seems absolutely idiotic that the police wouldn’t believe her, and even more ridiculous that they’d be hunting her down — unless (spoiler warning) the killer is a man in blue. Based on the trailer, I’d bet a pretty hefty sum that Daniel Sunjata (“Rescue Me”) is involved with the kidnappings. Not to mention there are clearly two people during an assault towards the last shot of the trailer. Am I wrong? You tell me. READ MORE
