Dark Horse Comics has been giving a big push for their new series, Dream Thief, coming from the minds of Jai Nitz and artist Greg Smallwood. If you haven’t already picked up or read Batman Inc #8, don’t read this (even though it’s probably already been spoiled for you by other news sites I won’t name). If you have, you know the tragic news already, and I’m sure you have your opinions on it (feel free to sound off in the comments). The March solicitation covers for the family of Bat books show each of the characters mourning in their own way. READ MORE
I’ve been lucky enough to be exposed to all sorts of new and different books in 2012. I concede that my list has more super than horror but who knows what will be on here in 2013? Now that I look at my list, I still see quite a bit of the darker, murkier side of some of what mainstream comics offered. I have a mix of monthly, mini-series, and collections on this list. If you try something new in 2013, I hope it’s one of these great series. My top 12 of 2012 list is in no particular order because they’re all winners. Enjoy and Happy 2013! READ MORE
So, I’m ashamed to say 2012 was not a terribly adventurous year for me when it comes to comics. For better or worse, I ended up sticking with relatively mainstream comics. That said, there were a number of excellent offerings from both DC and Marvel, and these comics are absolutely capable of competing with more creator-friendly work, as long as they’re in the right hands. At any rate, there was some serious competition this year for the number one spot, but ultimately there can only be one! Curious to find out if what you’ve been reading is the epitome of the medium or crap not worth even a momentary glance? Read on, and see for yourself… READ MORE
Grant Morrison’s twisted seasonal pipe dream continues with the third issue of Happy, where he is once again joined by artist Darick Robertson as disgraced Detective Nick Sax teams up with a very small, very vocal flying blue horse. This installment fleshes out Sax’s backstory and gives us a glance into what happened to make him such a foul-mouth, chain smoking, miserable bastard. READ MORE
It’s not all sunshine and gumdrops being a comic character. Sometimes – actually, quite often – characters meet a gruesome, brutal fate. And that’s what we’re here to celebrate, because we are horrible, morbid, immoral people who delight in the suffering and agony of fictional characters. Comics have a history of violent deaths, but sometimes they are forgotten, left lying in the gutters. We’ve compiled a list of what we believe are the most brutal deaths in comics. It goes without saying, this is NSFW. READ MORE
Half way through the DC Comics New 52 Superman panel, Jim Lee and Scott Snyder were brought in to join the gang of Superman writers and artists on stage. This was quickly followed by the announcement of a new Superman title from Snyder and Lee, set for 2013, the 75th anniversary of the character.
This has been rumored for the past few weeks, but it is now official. Not many details were released about the project, but Snyder said he was really going to test the Man of Steel and explore how Clark Kent is affected by all the crazy stuff in his life. More on the panel after the break. READ MORE
Legendary Entertainment is ramping up their comics branch as announced today at NYCC. Guillermo del Toro detailed a Pacific Rim graphic novel which will serve as a prequel to his upcoming film. The story is apparently a “must” for those who want to see the film as it will build on character backstories. The graphic novel is written by the film’s scriptwriter, Travis Beacham, and will be released in three parts – covering.
Grant Morrison’s project involves a screenwriter who is given a final chance to save his downtrodden career. He struggles to write a script for a film called “Annihilator” (also the title of the graphic comic), featuring a sci-fi hero in a haunted prison. Check out all the details below. READ MORE
RZA, Frontman of the infamous Wu-Tang-Clan, recently turned director with the help of Quentin Tarantino, and he’s already got a big new project in the works. Image Comics’ Happy! #1 marks Grant Morrison’s long awaited return to creator owned material and from the first page, we’re reminded why we’ve missed pure, unadulterated Morrison so much. Morrison, who one would think was being paid by the F-bomb, ventures into a genre that’s been done to death and still manages to make it feel new and exciting. He does so by introducing a bright-blue flying unicorn into the hardboiled-ex-cop-single-handedly-takes-on-the-mob formula and it is delightfully twisted. Darick Robertson’s art, combined with Richard P. Clark’s expert coloring, creates a world that is so vividly grimy that you can almost feel the squish of filthy gray snow beneath your feet. READ MORE

Alrighty folks, pull up a seat, grab your favorite treats, and buckle up because you’re going to want to hear this. Quite possibly one of the most iconic, well known, and most talented comic book scribes of all time, Grant Morrison has worked on everything from “BATMAN”, to “SPIDERMAN”, “SUPERMAN” and everyone in between.
