Here’s Our First Look At ‘Killer Is Dead’, A Game About Love And Execution From ‘Lollipop Chainsaw’ Dev

Grasshopper Manufacture games really should get a subgenre to call their own. They’re universally strange, but I like that. As we wade through a sea of games with numbers after their titles, their games tend to provide a much-needed breath of fresh air. Studio CEO Goichi Suda (better known as Suda 51) has made a name for himself after bringing us vibrant and wacky punk rock romps like No More Heroes, Shadows of the Damned, and most recently with Lollipop Chainsaw. ‘Lollipop Chainsaw’ Is Already Grasshopper’s Most Successful Title To Date

Had Lollipop Chainsaw been developed by any other studio, the news that a game featuring a scantily clad chainsaw-wielding cheerleader who spends her free time kicking mountains of zombie ass sold well wouldn’t be all that surprising. However, this is a Suda 51 game, and his projects, which include Shadows of the Damned and No More Heroes, tend not to perform terribly well commercially. This makes the news that his studo has shipped 700,000 units worldwide just a little impressive. It’s also great news for fans of Suda 51′s work, because it could mean a potential sequel, or at the very least, more support for Grasshopper’s next game, the mysterious Killer Is Dead.
