With “Grim Leaper”, Kurtis J. Wiebe is spinning another one of his quirky, creator-owned miniseries that mixes all kinds of genres together. The series revolves around Lou, a man who, no matter how hard he tries, cannot stop dying and coming back to life. The book is full of over-the-top gore, but solely for the purpose of humor. “Grim Leaper” is a very dark comedy that mixes crude humor with a surprising amount of charm. Issue #3 drops this week. Review: ‘Grim Leaper’ #1

The tag line of Image Comics new series, Grim Leaper, is, “A love story to die for.” Needless to say that made me a little hesitant to open up to page 1, especially since the cover was slightly pink and features a dude with a black leather jacket and faux-hawk… But the “i” in “Grim” was dotted with a skull, not a heart, so I gave it a shot. Kurtis J. Wiebe offers something completely different from his normal bag of tricks, with some wild twists and turns throughout. “Grim Leaper” is a very different book, to say the least, and it’s shaping up to be quite the thrill ride. Kurtis J. Wiebe stole our hearts last year with his incredibly dark murder-mystery, “Green Wake”, and he’s exploded onto the comic scene ever since. He’s got a brilliant mind full of ideas, and he stretches his work across multiple genres proving that he’s no one-trick pony. Although he’s new to the comic world, he’s already made a huge impact, proving himself as a talented storyteller.

His newest book, Grim Leaper, is a tragic, gory, romantic comedy that mixes Final Destination with Groundhog Day. It follows Lou Collins, a man who cannot stop dying, only to wake up in the body of strangers. But his monotonous life takes a wild turn after he falls in love with a fellow leaper. Kurtis Wiebe Takes A Leap In May

Kurtis J. Wiebe is on fire! He’s got “Peter Panzerfaust” well underway, “Debris” coming out this summer, and now he’s got another little series called Grim Leaper heading your way next month. For someone who wasn’t even in the comics industry three years ago, Wiebe became a big name to look out for quickly following the success of “Green Wake”. “Grim Leaper” tells the story of a man who seemingly cannot die. After his thirteenth failed attempt, he discovers something new, something to give him life again, love.
