Christmas is just around the corner, but if you’re anything like me you’ve procrastinated and still haven’t bought the gifts you need to get for all the special people in your life. That’s okay, I understand your situation and I’m here to help. I’m sure most of us know gamers, whether they’re of the casual variety or the more hardcore persuasion. You might not know what to get for these people, I mean, how can you know what games they own and which ones they don’t? If you’re getting them video games, you have to take their personal taste into account. Final Fantasy may be a good game, but maybe they’re not a fan of the series. Getting them a game they don’t enjoy could be detrimental to your relationship with that person. They could think you don’t know them, or worse, they think you’re angry with them because you gave them a video game they hated. This could lead to a pretty awkward Christmas.
To keep something like this from happening, we’re going to forgo looking for video games so we can instead focus on gaming related items. I’ve even separated this list of goods into three tiers, divided by price. No need to thank me, I did it because I care. I’m here to spread Christmas faster than the T-Virus spreads a hunger for living flesh. Now sit back, grab a mug of hot cocoa, click that little read more button, and start gifting.
On Friday night I attended the Eyegore Awards at Universal Studios Hollywood. The event also serves as the official opening of their yearly Halloween Horror Nights extravaganza of mazes, performers and all around seasonally appropriate carnage. I always have fun with this event and I was stoked to see how this year measured up.
So after the awards I took it upon myself to amble around the park and visit the seven unique attractions that comprise the Horror Nights programming. And I’m pleased to say that this year’s set of mazes is even better than last year’s – if you’re making the trek out to the Hollywood version of Halloween Horror Nights, you won’t be disappointed.
As always – you need to go in with a plan. There’s only so much time, and lines are long, so we figured we’d provide you with our personalized guide for the event. This year’s Halloween Horror Nights dates are September 21, 22, 28, 29 and October 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 18, 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, 27, 28 and 31. Tickets are available here.

One of the things that metalheads know and love as part of our culture is the “Satan Fingers”, also known as the “Devil Horns”. It’s something I’ve done more times than I can count. Hell, I’ve done it more times in one month than I could easily count. It’s such a fluid motion for me to extend my index finger and pinky while curling in my middle and ring fingers, grasping them with my thumb and then raising my shaped hand into the sky, proudly proclaiming my love for metal. Sometimes I do this while in the produce section of the grocery store and people stare at me as though I were some sort of weirdo (it’s true). Know what I do? I point my hand right at them and never break eye contact. Works like a charm every time.
But what can really irritate me is when someone does it wrong. Extend the thumb out and you look ridiculous in my eyes. Be a megapop star and flash them? I hate you. Stay outta my neighborhood.
But what about those people who are getting into metal who are just unsure of what to do? Perhaps this guide below, done by Jon “Bean” Hastings, will aid you in feeling safe and secure around your fellow metalheads! Check it out below! READ MORE
This was sent to me by some amazing people and I absolutely HAD to share this with you. It’s a list of different metal genres (and a few non-metal ones tacked on at the end) along with a description so that people can understand the difference between them. On top of being incredibly useful for those friends and family who just don’t “get it”, it’s also incredibly funny. My two personal favorites are “Speed Metal” and “Grind Metal”. Check out the list below and get to laughing!
Now, readers, I’ve got a two requests for you: The first is to leave a comment with your favorites. The second is, if you want, to also add in any other genre/descriptions that you think should be added to this list. Then, we can put together the definitive music genre guide! We have the power!!! That’s right folks, hold onto your butts, your loved ones and your gaming console because come May 21st we’ll all be goners. Because that’s what a few people are saying, that the apocalypse is just around the corner. Whether or not this is true doesn’t really matter because one day, whether it’s this weekend or a hundred years from now when we’re all busy having sex with Cylons, the world will end. It could be an earthquake, tsunami, dying sun or the inevitable zombie apocalypse, the only thing we know for sure is we all have an expiration date.
Lucky for us, gamers have an edge over the common folk because we’ve all survived some form of apocalyptic event at least once over the course of our gaming careers. Resident Evil and Left 4 Dead gave us the know how to make it if zombies ruled the world, Fallout offered invaluable tips for surviving in a nuclear war-induced wasteland and there are plenty of other games that covered more post-apocalyptic scenarios. So if you care about yourself, and I’m sure you do, I suggest reading this handy little guide to surviving whatever it is that’s thrown at us when the world inevitably ends. READ MORE
