Yes, vampires are popular, they are currently all over pop culture, and there’s a lot of trashy teen stories working to give them a bad name. Thankfully, we still have creators like Lapham and Huddleston (with a little help from del Toro) to restore our faith in the fanged immortal. The Strain is shaping up to be another stellar vampire comic, one that delves deep into the mythology and lore we all know and love. Check out the preview for issue #3 down below.

Last month Lapham and Huddleston began their engrossing, rich tale of vampire mythology, which spans across decades. The full scale of the mythos is yet to be revealed, but the repercussions of letting the vampire plague loose in the current century are starting to surface. Ephraim finds himself in the midst of something far more horrific than he could ever imagine, and his troubles are only beginning. Issue #2 delves further into the mystery of flight 753 and ups the dramatic tone several notches. Lapham is taking his time planting all the seeds for a deliberately paced narrative that showcases his ability to craft a story-driven book that dwindles in the back of your mind. Lapham and Huddleston make a wonderful team, truly capturing the enchanting air of vampire lore, and issue #2 confirms the hopes The Strain will be a great story that restores faith in the blood sucking subgenre.
Guillermo del Toro has been uber busy lately, but as they say, there’s no rest for the wicked. Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s vampire novel trilogy, The Strain has been adapted into comic form with the help of David Lapham and Mike Huddleston, and it’s finally on its way! This is one of the most talented creative teams you could possibly imagine for a horror, sci-fi, thriller genre-mixer, and as you probably guessed by now, these aren’t your standard vampires. Nope, they are some genetic aberrations posing a threat to humanity. If you weren’t stoked enough already, now there’s an insane amount of previews for you to feast your eyes below.
