Hack/Slash

“Hack/Slash,” created by Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli, centers on Cassie Hack, a woman who symbolizes the lone girl who survives at the end of every horror movie. Hack not only survived, she has become a killer of killers and travels to small towns across the country hunting slashers in the vein of “Halloween’s” Michael Myers, “Friday the 13th’s” Jason Voorhees and “A Nightmare on Elm Street’s” Freddy Krueger. She is partnered on her journey with Vlad, a hulking companion who serves as her protector.

[Interview] Director Todd Lincoln Talks About His Grounded Approach To ‘The Apparition’ And ‘The Fly’ Remake That Was Too Weird For Fox

Warner Bros. will release writer/director Todd Lincoln‘s The Apparition next week and I recently hopped on the phone with him to discuss the film. We wound up talking for quite a while and I found him to be a truly engaging and enthusiastic conversationalist, not only in regard to his own film, but in terms of his love for cinema in general. We discussed The Apparition at length as well as what happened to Hack/Slash and his re-imagining of The Fly.

In the film, “When frightening events start to occur in their home, young couple Kelly (Ashley Greene) and Ben (Sebastian Stan) discover they are being haunted by a presence that was accidentally conjured during a university parapsychology experiment. The horrifying apparition feeds on their fear and torments them no matter where they try to run. Their last hope is an expert in the supernatural (Tom Felton), but even with his help they may already be too late to save themselves from this terrifying force…

Head inside for the interview. The Apparition appears in theaters on August 24. READ MORE

Life After Death In Tim Seeley’s ‘Revival’

“Hack/Slash” scribe, Tim Seeley has a new zombie story, titled Revival coming out from Image Comics, and it lands on July 11. However, Seeley’s dead-heads are not mindless and bloodthirsty, they are simply revived corpses who attempt to return to their normal lives. Seeley says, “Revival is … rooted in psychological horror — the fear of what happens to us when we die, the fear of not being sure if we can trust those closest to us”. Top 10: Horror Comics We Want On Screen

With the all the superhero blockbusters hogging theaters this summer, it seems that film producers are relying more and more on comic books for their source material. On top of the big-budget superhero movies, the success of The Walking Dead TV series, and films like 30 Days of Night and Blade, are perhaps a sign that we’ll be seeing more horror comics being adapted for the screen in the near future. While the horror genre hasn’t always been the most accessible, recent trends in pop culture have veered towards the darker side of fiction, opening the door for horror comic adaptation. We’ve done some wishful thinking and put together a list of comics we’re dying to see in live action, some of which are already in the works. READ MORE

WTF: Conan Director To Take On Hack/Slash!

Hack/Slash has seen more directors than I really care to name, and today The Hollywood Reporter announced that Marcus Nispel is the latest name attached to direct the comic to film adaptation. On top of Conan, Nipsel has directed other questionable films such as the recent remakes of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th. Now this is likely to piss off some fans, so feel free to rant off in the comments.

‘Texas Chainsaw’ and ‘Friday the 13th’ Director Takes On ‘Hack/Slash’

Texas Chainsaw and Friday the 13th Director Takes On Hack/Slash

Marcus Nispel – who directed last summer’s horrid Conan the Barbarian, along with New Line Cinema’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th remakes – has come aboard to helm the long gestured Hack/Slash, Relativity’s adaptation of a horror-action comic book.

“Hack/Slash,” created by Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli, “centers on Cassie Hack, a woman who symbolizes the cliché of the lone girl who survives at the end of every horror movie. In this case, the girl not only survived but has become a killer of killers. Hack travels across the country hunting slashers in the vein of ‘Halloween’s Michael Myers, ‘Friday the 13th’s Jason Voorhees and ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’s Freddy Krueger, along with a hulking protector named Vlad.

The project has seen several writers and directors come and go since it first was set up at Universal’s now-deceased genre division Rogue Pictures, which later was acquired by Relativity. THR reports. READ MORE

OMFG Of The Summer: Halo-8 And Tim Seeley Announce Voice Actress For ‘Hack/Slash’!

Ladies and gentlemen, gather round, because at long last Halo-8, Tim Seeley, and the rest of the crew behind the “HACK/SLASH” animated comic have officially announced the lucky lady who will be voicing the series. Now remember that this part has been pretty coveted within the industry, with the likes of Meghan Fox expressing interest in the part for the live action version. Halo-8 founder Matt Pizzolo had this to say about the role…

“Cassie is a great role and there are a lot of established actresses who’d love to bring her to life. We feel really blessed by the actress we’ve selected to take on the role – not only is she a fan-favorite but she herself is a fan of Tim, Cassie, and Vlad. With Hack/Slash, we’re working more with green screen and roto-style animation, so this actress will literally be taking on Cassie’s skin.”

With all that being said, we are VERY proud to announce that the lovely scribe behind “WE WILL BURY YOU”, “SUICIDE GIRLS”, Brea Grant will be giving the horror icon her voice for the series!

OMFG Of The Summer: Halo 8 And Tim Seeley Announce Voice Actress For Hack/Slash!

It hasn’t been a bad year for Grant, as this is the second big casting announcement for the actress, who earlier this year confirmed that she would be taking on a regular role in Showtime’s “DEXTER”. Most horror fans know Brea for her work in Rob Zombie’s second “HALLOWEEN” film, as well as the underground hit “MIDNIGHT MOVIE”. Unfortunately, up until now we have not gotten to see enough of the actress in a central light, but thankfully that is all changing. If you ask us it is about time! READ MORE
