‘Hack/Slash’ Actress To Be Announced At Comic-Con

A feature length adaptation of Hack/Slash has been in the making for a long time, and it looks like we might get some closure pretty soon. Last time we heard anything, the live-action film was set up at Relativity with Steven Susco writing the script (a lot of people have probably taken a look at the script written by Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli from 2007 as well), but it looks like Halo-8 is in production on a different illustrated feature that mixes comic book sequential art with 3D CGI and rotoscoped animation of live-action performances.

Originally announced after Comic Con last year, director Matt Pizzolo has been working on a new visual style for the film that will progress from Godkiller (review) – he’s also working on Godkiller 2.

The actress who will be stepping into Cassie Hack’s shoes will be announced by creator Tim Seeley and Pizzolo at Halo-8′s panel on Saturday at 7pm in Room 9.

Cassie is a great role and there are a lot of established actresses who’d love to bring her to life. We feel really blessed by the actress we’ve selected to take on the role–not only is she a fan-favorite but she herself is a fan of Tim, Cassie, and Vlad” says Pizzolo. “With Hack/Slash, we’re working more with green screen and roto-style animation, so this actress will literally be taking on Cassie’s skin.

The only hint given in the press release is that the actress will already be attending Comic-Con for a genre series she stars in. That could mean someone from True Blood, The Vampire Diaries, something on Syfy or any one of the numerous new shows in attendance. Heck, it could even be someone from the Locke & Key pilot. In the past, actresses including Megan Fox and Kat Dennings have spoken publicly about how they’d love to play Cassie Hack, and a Twitter campaign #AllisonScag4Cassie trended for Warehouse-13‘s Allison Scagliotti to win the coveted role.

OMFG Of The Day: ‘Hack/Slash’ Takes On ‘Jersey Shore’, Reality TV, And Blows Our Freakin’ Minds!

One of the things that makes Tim Seeley and Daniel Leister’s “HACK/SLASH” so endearing is the fact that it is always conscious of the events of the real world, and isn’t afraid to take a ‘stab’ at them in the way only Seeley and Leister can. (You thought we were going to say boobs, didn’t you? Perverts.) The perfect example of this is the newly released advance cover artwork for some of the upcoming issues of the monthly from Image Comics, one of which featuring the loose likenesses of the “JERSEY SHORE” cast. Below you can check out the covers and see for yourself.

Cassie And Vlad Go On Safari With The Second Issue Of ‘Hack/Slash’!

As Tim Seeley and Daniel Leister’s “HACK/SLASH” continues to make strong showings on the sales charts, one would begin to wonder if the acquisition of the series by Image Comics could be the comic book equivalent of the Lou Brock trade of the 1960′s. Image Comics Brings In The ‘Hoax Hunters’ Within The Pages Of ‘Hack/Slash’!

With the release of the first issue of Tim Seeley’s “HACK/SLASH” for Image Comics the publisher threw in a little extra added bonus material with the first installment of the all new “HOAX HUNTERS” serial. The series will continue its run in the back pages of Seeley’s series next week, and below you can get a small glimpse of the story as well as the details.

Image Comics Brings In The Hoax Hunters Within The Pages Of Hack/Slash!

“Chupacabra. Yeti. The Montauk Monster. All the creatures of folklore, legend, and Internet fame–what if they were real? They’d be made to appear fake by a reality TV show, of course! HOAX HUNTERS is that show, though to their viewing audience, their goal is the exact opposite: seeking out YouTube sensations, tabloid creatures, and reported monsters and proving them to be false. The HOAX HUNTERS demonstrate that the truth isn’t out there.

In this initial run, readers follow the HOAX HUNTERS team as they respond to a mysterious American astronaut—accompanied by a murder of crows—who appears in Russia. And that team, which consists of a reanimated corpse, a former child star who suffered a demonic possession, and a special ops agent, isn’t your typical television cast. But to their audience, these are just their roles.”

OMFG Of The Day: Dynamite Announces ‘Hack/Slash’ And ‘Eva’ Crossover Event!

Tim Seeley continues to bring fans of his ever popular ‘HACK/SLASH’ series more and more fun spin-offs and one-shots every year, and one of the common themes thus far this year for the scribe has been crossovers. To add to the already announced ‘ZOMBIES VS CHEERLEADERS’ crossover, today Dynamite Entertainment announced that they had teamed up with Seeley to bring fans ‘HACK/SLASH-EVA’ later this year. Below you can get all the details as well as the advance cover art.

OMFG Of The Day: Dynamite Announces Hack/Slash And Eva Crossover Event!

“Dynamite Entertainment is proud to announce that Tim Seeley’s most famous creation, Hack/Slash, will be crossing-over with Eva, the daughter of Dracula, in May 2011 at Dynamite Entertainment in a four-issue mini-series, with covers by Tim Seeley himself!

“I’m excited for the opportunity to see what Brandon Jerwa and the people at Dynamite have in store for Cassie and Vlad as she goes head to head with their monster fighting hottie,” says Hack/Slash creator Tim Seeley. “I am very protective of my creations, but when approached by Dynamite with this idea, it seemed like a natural fit to have a cross-over with Eva.”

“Now THIS is exciting. Tim and I came up in comics together with a healthy run on G.I. Joe, then both spun off into our own careers after that,” says writer Brandon Jerwa. “It’s been too long since we’ve worked together in any capacity. Now, he’s trusting me with Hack/Slash – his rude, sexy, violent baby – and Dynamite is giving me a chance to bring Eva, Daughter of the Dragon back to comics as well. I’m pretty sure they just got tired of hearing me ask “what about Eva?!” once a month for the last couple of years. This crossover is fun for all the right reasons, and I’m definitely enjoying the chance to cut loose (get it?) in the world of slasher-slayers and monster-hunters. This ride’s gonna be loud and bloody, and no safety gear will be issued.”

“I have always had an incredible admiration for Brandon Jerwa’s writing,” says Dynamite President and Publisher Nick Barrucci. “We are fortunate to have such a tight relationship with Tim Seeley that he is allowing a cross-over with us on Hack/Slash.”

“Brandon [Jerwa] last wrote Eva in the “Daughter of the Dragon” one-shot (well worth seeking out if you haven’t read it),” says Dynamite Editor Joe Rybandt. “We’re raising the stakes here on all fronts with the Hack/Slash cross-over, amping up the violence and mayhem and showing a true dichotomy across character types, with Eva and Cassie standing at opposite ends of the spectrum.”

Hack/Slash is a comic books series, created by writer/penciler Tim Seeley. The focus of the series is on a horror victim, Cassie, who strikes back at the monsters, known as “slashers”, with Vlad, a disfigured “gentle giant” who frequently wears a gas mask. READ MORE

Taking The High Road Out Of Hell: Tim Seeley Paying Debt Owed To ‘Hack/Slash’ Artists Out Of His Own Pocket

Like any good break-up worth its salt there has to be loss involved for both parties involved. This past weekend we ran the news that publisher Image Comics had acquired the rights to Tim Seeley’s ubber popular brainchild “HACK/SLASH” from original publisher Devil’s Due. In that article I touched on the mountain of debt that the publisher owes to its artists and writers, something that now that it has lost its top selling commodity, will probably prove to be its downfall. Well now it is being reported over at Bleeding Cool News that the scribe himself will be taking on the debt owed to those that have contributed to his title on his own shoulders, and out of his own pocket book. Review: Hack/Slash #29

As I walked the aisles of my local shop this week, my eyes gleefully bouncing from cover to cover of all the new issues, I realized something: that just 1 of the titles on my pull and holds came out this week.
