Review: Hack/Slash Issue #28

As a long time reader of the Hack/Slash series, it still astounds me how time and time again I find myself marveling at just how far Devil’s Dues little title has come since its inception in 2004. Since then Cassie Hack, and her cleaver wielding sidekick Vlad, have gone toe to toe with just about every baddy you can think of. From Chucky to Re-Animator, the duo sure does know how to keep busy. But in HACK/SLASH #28 Cassie and Vlad just might have found themselves in their oddest predicament yet: the world of Archie Comics!

With us getting into the last month of the year, new comic releases are pretty strong. Certain ones you want to look into are: Aliens #4 of 4: the epic conclusion that I imagine will have a cliffhanger, Very Zombie Christmas: c’mon it looks fun, and Nuns Without Guns: I reviewed this earlier in the year and I absolutely loved it. Art of Hack/Slash Vol 2 Out This January

Love it or hate it, Hack/Slash is here to stay….but I think we can all agree that the covers and artwork for the Hack/Slash series is pretty rad. Coming this January from Devil’s Due is the second volume of the Art of Hack/Slash which will collect cover art, plus other exclusives. Is bloody cheesecake enough of a reason for a purchase?

Eerie Archives and Hack/Slash ! New Comic Releases This Week – 8/12

I’m already pretty exhausted with new comics since the Chicago Comic-con was this weekend…but I must press on. A couple suggestions for this week’s releases are:
Eerie Archives HC Vol 2: Now an Eisner Award winner, Dark Horse’s Archives of Eerie and Creepy are second to none.
Dead at 17: Afterbirth: You might want to look into it before purchasing, but I really dig the lighter story and cartoon like artwork.
Don’t forget the usual hits like Hack/Slash and Walking Dead, full list after the break.

Art of Hack/Slash out this August!!!

I noticed an ad in the new issue of Hack/Slash. In August, Devils Due Publishing is releasing the “Art of Hack/Slash,” a 48 page art book celebrating the series with a cover by Tim Seeley. I hope the brunt of the book is the all the movie poster like covers, apparently the quality of the book/paper will be suitable for framing…time will tell. Are you gonna be picking this up?

Wulf and Batsy Artist Bryan Baugh to do upcoming Hack/Slash issues

I just received word from Bryan Baugh himself that he will be the artist on two upcoming Hack/Slash issues, probably issues 24 and 25. Hack/Slash is the popular comic by Tim Seely following Cassie Hack and her adventures killing killers. I think Baugh will be a great addition to the series, he actually did the cover to Issue 3 so it’s nothing new for him. Also I can’t recommend enough to get his comic, Wulf and Batsy, that he writes and does art on. He is currently making a trade paperback that collects all the issues so far plus work you’ll never see anywhere else. More news as it surfaces…
