I don’t think that anyone saw this one coming except for those close to the players involved, but as of today Tim Seeley (Creator ‘HACK/SLASH’) is no longer writing for publisher Devil’s Due and in doing so will be taking his cult horror smash, ‘HACK/SLASH’, with him! But where is he taking his million dollar title to? How about the creator owned comic haven that is Image Comics?! Read on for all the details on the departure, and what this move could potentially mean for everyone involved!
There are few better series running out there right now that can compare to Tim Seeley’s “HACK/SLASH”. Today we were given a sneak preview of issue #34, due this April. The story itself promises to be a very important one as it is the conclusion to the “MURDER MESSIAH” arc started in #33 where it is revealed that a serial killer is targeting people close to Cassie, leaving no one alive in his/her wake.
Cas and Vlad are in a mad rush to Florida to stop the murderer targeting the “loose ends” in Cassie’s life. That can only mean sexy stripper Georgia Peaches is in danger of being severely serially killed! But can Cas convince her pissed-off ex-girlfriend to accept her help?

April is officially marked down on my calendars as the biggest month in comics this year. It seems like every story I have been previewing has had an April release date, and if you thought it was great already then hold onto your keyboards because beyond the break we have a first look at Devil’s Due Publishing’s big April crossover that brings their sexiest stars together in one hell of a bloody mess. Read on for the full skinny.
Writer: Josh Blaylock
Art: Joe Song
Covers: Tim Seeley and Matt Merhoff.
“Angels and Demons, Slashers and Killers – discerning them can all get so confusing. What happens when Mercy and Hank need the relic of a slasher on Cassie and Vlad’s hit list? Even worse, when the slasher wants it back? It’s a fun violent romp that brings DDP’s sexiest seductresses together for the first time.”
Devil’s Due Publishing drops “HACK/SLASH AND MERCY SPARX” this April at a cover price of $5.99! READ MORE
As I walked the aisles of my local shop this week, my eyes gleefully bouncing from cover to cover of all the new issues, I realized something: that just 1 of the titles on my pull and holds came out this week. Worse yet, no matter how hard I looked at each and every title, I couldn’t find anything of interest for you loyal readers. I was at a loss. I was down right downtrodden. But thankfully though that 1 title so happened to be Hack/Slash #29, and like an IV pumping coffee straight into the veins of Dave Attel, I was rejuvenated. Read on for the review.
If you’re Time Seeley & company how do you follow up an issue where Cassie and Vlad make sushi out of Mary Shelley and Chtulhu’s love child? What about sidekicks, a murder mystery, and Samhain? Find the answers to these and other burning questions beyond the break. (Note-lotion not included)
As a long time reader of the Hack/Slash series, it still astounds me how time and time again I find myself marveling at just how far Devil’s Dues little title has come since its inception in 2004. Since then Cassie Hack, and her cleaver wielding sidekick Vlad, have gone toe to toe with just about every baddy you can think of. From Chucky to Re-Animator, the duo sure does know how to keep busy. But in HACK/SLASH #28 Cassie and Vlad just might have found themselves in their oddest predicament yet: the world of Archie Comics!
With us getting into the last month of the year, new comic releases are pretty strong. Certain ones you want to look into are: Aliens #4 of 4: the epic conclusion that I imagine will have a cliffhanger, Very Zombie Christmas: c’mon it looks fun, and Nuns Without Guns: I reviewed this earlier in the year and I absolutely loved it. Full list after the break.
As we all scramble this week to get our last minute costumes and get invited to parties…make sure to stop by your local comic shop to pick up some new horror comics! Some big titles to look out for this week would be Predator #3 and Hack/Slash #27. Full list after the break, what are you getting this week?
Love it or hate it, Hack/Slash is here to stay….but I think we can all agree that the covers and artwork for the Hack/Slash series is pretty rad. Coming this January from Devil’s Due is the second volume of the Art of Hack/Slash which will collect cover art, plus other exclusives. Is bloody cheesecake enough of a reason for a purchase?
I’m already pretty exhausted with new comics since the Chicago Comic-con was this weekend…but I must press on. A couple suggestions for this week’s releases are:
Eerie Archives HC Vol 2: Now an Eisner Award winner, Dark Horse’s Archives of Eerie and Creepy are second to none.
Dead at 17: Afterbirth: You might want to look into it before purchasing, but I really dig the lighter story and cartoon like artwork.
Don’t forget the usual hits like Hack/Slash and Walking Dead, full list after the break.
I noticed an ad in the new issue of Hack/Slash. In August, Devils Due Publishing is releasing the “Art of Hack/Slash,” a 48 page art book celebrating the series with a cover by Tim Seeley. I hope the brunt of the book is the all the movie poster like covers, apparently the quality of the book/paper will be suitable for framing…time will tell. Are you gonna be picking this up?
Well I’m fresh from coming back from the comic book store with my comic buddy, Dubbs. I got mostly what I wanted, except the Doctor Who one shot that came out was sold out by the time I got there. I just finished reading the rest of comics I got and wanted to give you a quick look into the rest and see if they’re worth your time. Hit the jump to find out about Hack/Slash, Unthinkable, and Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft.
I’m pretty excited to go to the comic book store this week, one because I missed last weeks because of E3 and more importantly there are some great titles coming out this week. Some releases that you might be interested in is Hack/Slash, Walking Dead, and the Strange Adventures H.P. Lovecraft. I read the first issue of Lovecraft and really dug it so it might be worth your time as well. Full release after the break…
Comic book day this week is kind of a treat for me. Not only is there a new Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service and Goon. There is also the awesome graphic novel adaptation of Dracula by Ben Templesmith. I hate and love the money I’ll be spending…I guess I’m helping the economy. Full list after the break.
There are too many great releases this week, allow me to share some of my picks. First off, Dark Horse has a double header from their archive series: Boris Karloff Tales of Mystery and Creepy Archives Vol 3. Creepy Archives are some of the best quality archives and the stories and artwork are second to none. In regular issue releases are the great Marvel Zombies 4 issue 2 and the finale of Killer of Demons #3. Killer of Demons is an amazing comic worth your time…if you can find it. What are you getting? Full list after the break.
Biggest release this week is Volume 2 of the Hack/Slash Omnibus series. If you haven’t been following the series month by month, now would be a great time to pick them up. Full list after the break…
I just received word from Bryan Baugh himself that he will be the artist on two upcoming Hack/Slash issues, probably issues 24 and 25. Hack/Slash is the popular comic by Tim Seely following Cassie Hack and her adventures killing killers. I think Baugh will be a great addition to the series, he actually did the cover to Issue 3 so it’s nothing new for him. Also I can’t recommend enough to get his comic, Wulf and Batsy, that he writes and does art on. He is currently making a trade paperback that collects all the issues so far plus work you’ll never see anywhere else. More news as it surfaces…
Nothing much to report this week for new releases. That’s not saying they are not a couple titles worth your time, just not that many. The bigger titles this week are Crossed and Hack/Slash. Entire small list after the break…
Another batch of new releases came out today with a little bit for everybody. My personal hero and savior, Doctor Who, has a great one-shot out today with artwork by personal favorite, Ben Templesmith. A new Hack/Slash, Astounding Wolf-Man, Cthulhu Tales round out the rest of heavy hitters. Also two great trades came out today, Eerie #1 for you old classic horror readers and MPD-Psycho Volume 8 for you weird dark Japanese horror comics. A little bit for every perverse part of your psyche. Complete list after the break…
A little something for everybody this week. My bets are on Hack/Slash and Tales From the Crypt. If I feel in a weird mood at the comic book store, I might pick up Angora Napkin, looks interesting. List of new releases after the break…
Coming off the giant story arc with the Re-Animator…Hack/Slash Returns with a new arc: Closer. This issue has some great guest spots if you look closely, cough wolf-man cough toxic avenger cough firebreather…check out more after I get a lozenge….
