It’s the 20th episode of Aural Pleasures and we’re thrilled to actually have made it this long! Jonny and Bill are joined by Bill’s brother Dan for a roundtable discussion about everything under the sun, including Jurassic Park 3D, Evil Dead, Friday The 13th, and more.
The guys also chat some music, including the soundtracks to Halo 4 and Bioshock: Infinite as well as groups like Deftones and Rob Zombie‘s upcoming album Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor. They also go over the upcoming Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival and figure out which bands Bill is excited to see! (Hint: it’s not Five Finger Death Punch)
Also, keep your ears peeled back for a guest appearance from one of our favorite bands, Tool! All this and a whole lot more, so give it all a listen below! READ MORE
I wanted to give you guys a quick reminder that our first Halo 4 Game Night is TONIGHT from 6-9pm PST. You don’t have to hang with us for the full three hours, but we’d sure love it if you dropped by, even for a match or two. This is good casual fun, so feel free to play in your footy pajamas, or nothing, we don’t judge. We’re going to be playing all sorts of modes, I’ve even gone through the trouble of scouring the community made maps for some fun ones to play on. Here are the deets:
What: Halo 4 Where: Xbox Live When: Saturday March 30, from 6-9pm PST. Who: I’ll be there, alongside Danny, TJ, Tom, Jon, and You.

You hear that? That’s the sound of me strapping on my active camouflage so I can sneak up behind you and deliver the goods in our first ever Game Night! If you think back a ways, you may remember me asking you a few questions about a potential community game night, and now, a billion years later, we’re finally doing it. Here are the deets:

See what I did there?! Ugh, my jokes are losing their edge. Coming to your magical boxes of X this April 8th is the Castle Map Pack for Halo 4. If you bought the Map Pass obviously all you have to do is hop on and download it. Otherwise get ready to shell out the usual 800 Microsoft Flag Steals. Head past the break for a bunch of new screens from the pack, and info on the 3 new maps: Daybreak, Outcast, and Perdition.
Adam and TJ finally return from their trip to the mountains where they got caught in a massive cave in. Things definitely got a little weird and they will probably never be the same. They did however record a new Dead Pixels podcast, where they discussed many things. They flew way off subject and talked about some movies they saw recently. They also discussed their list of the best horror games of 2012. They also went pretty deep into the world of horror games from the Playstation 1 and 2. They even went back in time and searched horror on the Atari and Colecovision. The boys get weird as usual, but that’s what you guys like best about the podcast. Right? READ MORE
Hey you. How have you been? I’ve scavenged the darkest corners of the Internet again, or Youtube, rather, and like a Minecraft miner stepping out of a cave with an inventory full of diamonds, I have some treasure to share with all of you. After the break you’ll find a beautiful fan-made trailer for Telltale’s The Walking Dead, BioShock’s Rapture recreated in Minecraft, and you’ll also find out what happens when you get too many kills in Halo 4. (Spoiler: it’s not good.) READ MORE
Because so many websites and publications have Game of the Year awards that cover many games across many different genres, we created the FEAR Awards, which since its inception back in 2009 has recognized the best and worst horror (and horror adjacent) games of the year. Unfortunately, this means we miss many excellent games. To remedy this, I’m going to recognized this year’s best non-horror games right now. Check them out after the jump! READ MORE
It’s that time of the year! 2012 has thrown everything it had at us, including a bevvy of highly anticipated games like Diablo III, Resident Evil 6, and Silent Hill: Downpour — but we made it. Many of us lost friends to the foggy town of Silent Hill, the demon-infested lands surrounding Tristram, or the eerie, deserted town of Night Springs, Arizona. It was tough, but the important thing is we survived. Sure, our social lives took a beating and our wallets are looking particularly thin, but the good news is we have about a month to save up before things pick back up.
In a continuation of our celebration of the glorious year for gaming that 2012 definitely was, the Bloody Disgusting staff has chosen our favorite games of the year. Check them out after the break. READ MORE
If you haven’t already gotten either of these games and you want to, now’s a perfect time. You may have missed all the Black Friday deals, but fear not redemption is here! Coming December 10th is Halo 4′s first map pack “Crimson“. It will be priced at 800 Microsoft Splatters, although you can buy the Halo 4 map pass for 25 bucks saving you 5 dollars across all 3 map packs. The Crimson Pack includes 3 new maps Harvest, Shatter, and Wreckage. Also included is the new multiplayer mode, Extraction. Want more? Past the break are more screenshots, a trailer, and more info.
I’ve been kicking around the idea of hosting an “official” Bloody Disgusting game night, where you, our sultry readers, can get your sweet, sweet game on with the BD staff. I’m down for it, TJ’s down for it (he’ll do anything if you ask him politely enough), so that leaves you. That brings me to my first question: how interested are you in participating in a community game night? If tea-bagging the bullet-riddled corpse of TJ and I sounds like something you’d be interested in, I’d love it if you would answer a few quick questions after the break.
Update: I’ve added a poll asking which console you prefer we do this on. READ MORE
I’ve never reviewed an art book before, and to be completely honest, I’m not even sure how to go about it. I mean, if you’re a fan of the Halo series and you love books with pretty pictures, then you probably already own this. If you love concept art, or video game art books, then I can tell you that this is one of the most beautiful collections I’ve seen in some time. But how beautiful is it? Let’s talk about it. It’s official. Halo 4 racked up 220 million dollars in the first 24 hours of it’s release, and is on par to smash 300 million in the first week of sales. That puts Halo 4 higher than all of the other Halos released. It surpassed box office blockbusters “The Avengers” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2″ for first day release. The craziest thing is that the Halo series has always been an Xbox 360 exclusive, which means if it was a PC, and Playstation 3 release those numbers would be way up. Which brings us to today’s release of Call Of Duty: Black Ops II. Will it smash Halo 4? I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough.
This year will be the 7th year in a row the Halo series will be a part of the FLAG Tournament. The reason for the tournament is to raise money for breast cancer research. To date the tourney has raised $27,000 for breast and cervical cancer research. Last year they raised $5000 and are hoping to shatter it this year. The tourney will run from November 16th through the 18th on Xbox Live in Halo 4. Head past the break for all the details on how you can help.
YES I DO! ANSWER ME! There is already talk about Halo 4 and it’s looking good people. It’s looking damn good. November 6th is so fucking close I can taste it. Finally, a new game for me to stay up until 4am playing multiplayer. Checkout the awesome game play launch trailer below, and don’t forget to pre-order Halo 4 right now. It’s coming November 6th exclusively as always to the Xbox 360.
We haven’t really gotten any back story into Master Chief himself. All I know is he is a massive super soldier that kicks all kinds of alien ass. If you watch the launch trailer below you’ll get to see the Chief more human than you’ve ever seen him before. I’m hoping Halo 4 will delve into who Master Chief was, but that could also taint his mysteriousness. What do you guys think?
Don’t forget to pre-order Halo 4 now releasing November 7th exclusively for the Xbox 360.
343 has got some awesome looking new weapons for Halo 4. And if you head past the break you can check out 2 videos. One features the weapons of the USNC, and the other the weapons of the Covenant. So why don’t you do us both a favor, head past the break and watch those videos. Then comment and tell me if you play for good or for evil. You should also be so excited for Halo 4 (like me) that you want to run around screaming and punching babies. Halo 4 comes out November 7th, exclusively for the Xbox 360.
Holy shit, 343 has done it again. Watch the video past the break, and you can witness some flag shanking from the Halo 4 multiplayer. Halo 4 will be out November 6th, and I will forget that I had any sort of a life. And you should too. Screens and video past the break.
IGN.com caught up with Halo 4 composer Neil Davidge to discuss the direction that the soundtrack would be taking since original composer Marty O’Donnell was no longer attached. Within the interview were several samples of the upcoming soundtrack as well as samples from the remix album, which will be hitting stores the same day as the OST (Oct. 22nd). You can hear the music below.
Describing his thoughts on the importance of music in Halo, O’Donnell stated, “One of the main characters in the games has been the soundtrack itself. That was a pretty daunting thing for me – coming onto a game where the music had such a central role. It put a lot of pressure on me.”
Halo 4 is scheduled for release on Nov. 6th. READ MORE
Halo 4 is definitely my most anticipated game of the year. I can’t stress enough how much I fucking love this series. Just from what we’ve seen so far I’m thinking this is going to be the best game in the series. It looks amazing and 343 really stepped it up and I’m glad because they have some massive Master Chief sized boots to fill. Head past the break to see the Prelude video for Halo 4. It gives you an awesome look into everything Halo 4 without saying a single word.
E3 shells out tons of awards to games. Sometimes I wonder how many they actually do give out because it seems like it’s around a million. Many games receive an unholy amount of awards. The sad thing is, the awards don’t mean too much because the games haven’t actually been released yet. So while a game could receive many E3 awards, it still hasn’t performed out in the “real” world. Well below you can check out Halo 4′sAccolades trailer, where you get many quotes from various places about how awesome the game is, and is going to be.
Halo 4 will be out November 6th, just 1 week before the release of Call Of Duty: Black Ops II. That’s going to be quite the battle for supremacy, though Blops II has the advantage of a multi console release behind it.
Yes you read it right. About as close as we are going to come to a full length Halo movie, is Forward Unto Dawn. On October 5th, 2012, the first episode will premiere via Machinima’s new Machinima Prime channel, and on Halo Waypoint. The live action series will run for 5 episodes, one a week up until the official release of Halo 4 on November 6th, 2012. Check out the incredible official trailer for the series from Comic-Con below.
Head past the break to get the synopsis for the series and to check out the long long list of actors and movies/tv series you may have already seen them in.
343 Industries is taking Halo 4 to a whole new level. That level? Weekly released co-op missions. There will be a weekly released cinematic episode that features 5 playable co-op chapters/missions. The whole point is to move your Halo career forward. You earn points just as you would playing a multiplayer match against other players. Head past the break to check out the Infinity Multiplayer trailer and learn all about it. Halo 4 will be released this November 6th, exclusively on the Xbox 360.
E3 is only on it’s first day and as usual every company has blown their gamey load all over. Now that I’m home from work, and hopefully you are too, let me start your evening out with an unholy amount of Halo 4. 343 Industries has taken over the Halo series from Bungie and from all the incredible goodies you can check out past the break, they’re doing an excellent job.
