[Podcast] Adam And TJ Talk The Best Games Of 2012 In The New Dead Pixels

Adam and TJ finally return from their trip to the mountains where they got caught in a massive cave in. Things definitely got a little weird and they will probably never be the same. They did however record a new Dead Pixels podcast, where they discussed many things. They flew way off subject and talked about some movies they saw recently. They also discussed their list of the best horror games of 2012. They also went pretty deep into the world of horror games from the Playstation 1 and 2. They even went back in time and searched horror on the Atari and Colecovision. The boys get weird as usual, but that’s what you guys like best about the podcast. Right? READ MORE

Ten Worthy Game Of The Year Contenders You Won’t See In Our FEAR Awards

Because so many websites and publications have Game of the Year awards that cover many games across many different genres, we created the FEAR Awards, which since its inception back in 2009 has recognized the best and worst horror (and horror adjacent) games of the year. Unfortunately, this means we miss many excellent games. To remedy this, I’m going to recognized this year’s best non-horror games right now. Check them out after the jump!

Here Are The Best Games Of The Year, As Chosen By The Bloody Disgusting Staff

It’s that time of the year! 2012 has thrown everything it had at us, including a bevvy of highly anticipated games like Diablo III, Resident Evil 6, and Silent Hill: Downpour — but we made it. Many of us lost friends to the foggy town of Silent Hill, the demon-infested lands surrounding Tristram, or the eerie, deserted town of Night Springs, Arizona. It was tough, but the important thing is we survived. Sure, our social lives took a beating and our wallets are looking particularly thin, but the good news is we have about a month to save up before things pick back up.

In a continuation of our celebration of the glorious year for gaming that 2012 definitely was, the Bloody Disgusting staff has chosen our favorite games of the year. Check them out after the break.

How Interested Are You In An “Official” Bloody Disgusting Game Night?

I’ve been kicking around the idea of hosting an “official” Bloody Disgusting game night, where you, our sultry readers, can get your sweet, sweet game on with the BD staff. I’m down for it, TJ’s down for it (he’ll do anything if you ask him politely enough), so that leaves you. That brings me to my first question: how interested are you in participating in a community game night? If tea-bagging the bullet-riddled corpse of TJ and I sounds like something you’d be interested in, I’d love it if you would answer a few quick questions after the break.

Update: I’ve added a poll asking which console you prefer we do this on.

‘Awakening: The Art of Halo 4’ Review: The Ultimate Companion For Any ‘Halo’ Fan

I’ve never reviewed an art book before, and to be completely honest, I’m not even sure how to go about it. I mean, if you’re a fan of the Halo series and you love books with pretty pictures, then you probably already own this. If you love concept art, or video game art books, then I can tell you that this is one of the most beautiful collections I’ve seen in some time. But how beautiful is it? Let’s talk about it.

‘Halo 4′ Takes The Title Of Biggest Entertainment Launch Of The Year

It’s official. Halo 4 racked up 220 million dollars in the first 24 hours of it’s release, and is on par to smash 300 million in the first week of sales. That puts Halo 4 higher than all of the other Halos released. It surpassed box office blockbusters “The Avengers” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2″ for first day release. The craziest thing is that the Halo series has always been an Xbox 360 exclusive, which means if it was a PC, and Playstation 3 release those numbers would be way up. Which brings us to today’s release of Call Of Duty: Black Ops II. Will it smash Halo 4? I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough.

It Looks Like Halo 4 Will Humanize Master Chief More Than Ever

We haven’t really gotten any back story into Master Chief himself. All I know is he is a massive super soldier that kicks all kinds of alien ass. If you watch the launch trailer below you’ll get to see the Chief more human than you’ve ever seen him before. I’m hoping Halo 4 will delve into who Master Chief was, but that could also taint his mysteriousness. What do you guys think?

Don’t forget to pre-order Halo 4 now releasing November 7th exclusively for the Xbox 360.

Listen To Some Halo 4 Music Plus Remixes

IGN.com caught up with Halo 4 composer Neil Davidge to discuss the direction that the soundtrack would be taking since original composer Marty O’Donnell was no longer attached. Within the interview were several samples of the upcoming soundtrack as well as samples from the remix album, which will be hitting stores the same day as the OST (Oct. 22nd). You can hear the music below.

Describing his thoughts on the importance of music in Halo, O’Donnell stated, “One of the main characters in the games has been the soundtrack itself. That was a pretty daunting thing for me – coming onto a game where the music had such a central role. It put a lot of pressure on me.

Halo 4 is scheduled for release on Nov. 6th. READ MORE

Watch As Everyone Tells You How Awesome Halo 4 Is

E3 shells out tons of awards to games. Sometimes I wonder how many they actually do give out because it seems like it’s around a million. Many games receive an unholy amount of awards. The sad thing is, the awards don’t mean too much because the games haven’t actually been released yet. So while a game could receive many E3 awards, it still hasn’t performed out in the “real” world. Well below you can check out Halo 4′s Accolades trailer, where you get many quotes from various places about how awesome the game is, and is going to be.

Halo 4 will be out November 6th, just 1 week before the release of Call Of Duty: Black Ops II. That’s going to be quite the battle for supremacy, though Blops II has the advantage of a multi console release behind it.
