[TV] Next On “Hannibal” Episode 1.07 Gillian Anderson Shows Up For “Sorbet”

As is my ritual on Fridays, I need to watch last night’s episode of NBC’s “Hannibal” ASAP. In the meantime, check out Gillian Anderson as Hannibal’s shrink in this teaser for next week’s episode 1.07 “Sorbet.”

In the episode, “When the BAU investigates a murder involving organ removal Jack (Laurence FIshburne) believes that the Chesapeake Ripper may have resurfaced, but Will (Hugh Dancy) determines that the victim’s murder is the result of illegal organ harvesting accident. Meanwhile, Will suffers from nightmares where he is Abigail’s father, and Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) slowly starts to seduce Alana Bloom (Caroline Dhavernas) and begins to visit his own therapist, Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson).

[TV] Next On “Hannibal” See Eddie Izzard Play Anthony Hopkins In Episode 1.05 “Entree”

NBC’s “Hannibal” is a show that I’m definitely digging. Tonight’s episode, “Coquilles”, hasn’t aired in my time zone yet but I’m definitely digging the trajectory its on. Interestingly enough, it seems like Eddie Izzard is basically playing Anthony Hopkins’ version of the Hannibal character in next week’s episode 1.05 “Entree”, right on down to the mannerisms (not to mention the glass cell.

In the episode, “Jack (Laurence Fishburne) & Alana (Caroline Dhavernas) are contacted by a former colleague, Dr. Chilton, (Raul Esparza ) who believes he has The Chesapeake Ripper in custody, but then one of his patients commits a murder that matches The Ripper’s profile. The team determines the Ripper was a surgeon and is still at large when Jack’s former protégé Miriam (Anna Chlumsky) becomes the next victim. Jack copes with her loss and the prospect of losing his wife by opening-up to Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen).

The series focuses on the fledgling relationship between FBI agent Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen), his mentor.” Other key cast members include Lance Henriksen (Near Dark, roughly 8% of horror movies in general), Gillian Anderson (“X-Files”), Gina Torres (“Firefly”), “Wonderfalls”’ Caroline Dhavernas and Ellen Muth (Dead Like Me).

[TV] Start Watching A “Cannibalized” Version Of That Deleted “Hannibal” Episode Now!

Okay, first thing’s first. Episode 1.04 of NBC’s “Hannibal” isn’t “Coquilles”, it’s “Ceuf”. As we reported earlier, it wasn’t even sent out to critics in a mailer containing the first few episodes, so this call was made a while ago (ostensibly by Fuller himself).

I know a lot of you were upset at the potential of “Coquilles” being pulled because of those flayed out human angel sculptures. Well, no worries – you’ll still see those on Thursday! That’s not the episode they’re sitting on. “Ceuf” features “Molly Shannon’s character brainwashing kids, leading them to kill other children.”

As previously reported, that episode is being broken up into bits, with commentary from Fuller, and posted on the web. The idea here is to bridge the continuity between Episodes 3 and 5. And the first one of these is available now.

In the episode, “Will tracks a serial killer, but his return to field duty weighs on him heavily. Elsewhere, Hannibal tries to drive Will and Jack apart; Jack’s wife enlists Hannibal as her therapist; and Beverly tries to bond with Will.

NBC’s “Hannibal” just aired episode 1.02, “Amuse-Bouche,” and they’re now offering up the teaser for episode 1.03, “Potage.”

In the episode, “Jack (Laurence Fishburne) theorizes that Abigail (Kacey Rohl) may have aided her father, Garret Jacob Hobbs (Vladimir Cubrt) in his serial killings against Dr. Alana Bloom’s (Caroline Dhavernas) advice, but at Hannibal’s (Mads Mikkelsen) behest. Abigail is escorted back to Minnesota, where she discovers much violent hostility against her and her family. Things go from bad to worse when a copycat killer murders a friend of Abigail. Hannibal suggests they hide the body to protect Abigail – but secrets come at a cost.

And I do mean strut, that’s a serious Mick Jagger pose Mads Mikkelson has going on there. NBC’s “Hannibal” has released a few new stills that are okay, but don’t do nearly as good of a job selling the show as that insanely gory trailer from a few weeks back.

[TV] This Bloody “Hannibal” Trailer Proves Networks Are Trying To Catch Up To Cable’s Violence

First “The Following” and now NBC’s “Hannibal”. Although the Hannibal Lecter centric show has the potential to be entertaining, it’s sort of weird to see this much gore in a network show. I’m not against it by any means – I just hope they know that there are several other qualities that set the AMC and HBO slate ahead of them creatively. Anyway, this still looks like it could be pretty good.

Update: They’ve fixed their embed! Trailer looks fine now!

I can’t see what the hell is going on. Is it supposed to be half the frame? All jowels and jawlines? Anyway if you’ve been waiting on a trailer for NBC’s “Hannibal”, here it is. Some of it.

[TV] New Key Art For “Hannibal” Dry And Delicious

We’ve got some new key art for NBC’s “Hannibal” that looks sort of cool. Visually, I’d definitely say the marketing is looking to play up the campier elements of Lecter’s personality. Hey, gotta get to those people who only remember the “fava beans and a nice chianti” line from Silence Of The Lambs! We haven’t seen any of the actual show yet so the jury’s still out on that.

[TV] “Hannibal” Shacks Up With Eddie Izzard

Eddie Izzard (Oceans 12 and 13, Dressed To Kill, Velvet Goldmine) is joining NBC’s contemporary Hannibal Lecter series, “Hannibal,” as a guest star. He’ll be playing Hannibal Lecter’s cellmate. Wonder how that will work out for him?

Like “Hannibal”‘s Caroline Dhavernas, Gina Torres, Molly Shannon, Chelan Simons and Ellen Greene, Izzard previously worked with “Hannibal” exec producer Bryan Fuller on last months “Mockingbird Lane” pilot turned Halloween special.

“Hannibal,” which is based on characters from Thomas Harris’ “Red Dragon,” centers on the budding relationship between FBI agent Will Graham (played by Hugh Dancy) and his mentor Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) – who are re-introduced at the beginning of their budding relationship. The character was previously portrayed by Stephen Lang in 1986′s Manhunter and Philip Seymour Hoffman in 2002′s Red Dragon. I guess it’s kind of interesting that she’s taking on a role previously inhabited by the opposite sex, but I’m a fan of hiring the right actor for the role – regardless of gender.

Will Graham (Hugh Dancy, “The Big C”) is a gifted criminal profiler who is on the hunt for a serial killer with the FBI. Graham’s unique way of thinking gives him the astonishing ability to empathize with anyone – even psychopaths. He seems to know what makes them tick. But when the mind of the twisted killer he’s pursuing is too complicated for even Will to comprehend, he enlists the help of Dr. Lecter, one of the premier psychiatric minds in the country. Armed with the uncanny expertise of the brilliant doctor, Will and Hannibal (known as a serial killer only to the audience) form a brilliant partnership and it seems there’s no villain they can’t catch.
