Deathwish Inc. Releases Teaser For Converge / Napalm Death Split

Official Press Release:

Legendary bands Converge and Napalm Death have come together for a split release, bridging the worlds of personal and politically driven extreme music.

Recorded as part of their new album sessions, Converge offer up the blazing new song “No Light Escapes“. Already a staple of their live set, this whirlwind of an emotional charged song is a soon to be a discordant hardcore/metal anthem for the band. Also on the release, Converge offer a “We Are The World” styled rendition of the influential Entombed classic “Wolverine Blues“. Joining them in tribute is a number of friends including Tomas Lindberg (Disfear, At The Gates, Lock Up), Aaron Turner (Isis, Old Man Gloom, Split Cranium), Kevin Baker (All Pigs Must Die, The Hope Conspiracy), Brian Izzi (Trap Them), and more. A new Converge album will surface later in 2012 on Epitaph/Deathwish Inc.

On the flip side, metal pioneers Napalm Death offer up two new aural monsters. First, “Will By Mouth” erupts in classic grind fashion. A buzz of brutal guitars and a crushing blast beat lay a foundation for Barney Greenway‘s vicious vocal attack. All of it uniquely bleeding together to paint a vivid picture of social unrest. Also on the release, Napalm Death offer the slower and textural new song “No Impediment To Triumph (Bhopal)“. A deeply resonant number that lyrically sheds light on the horrific Bhopal Gas Tragedy of 1984. Without question, “No Impediment…” is truly a powerful and poignant moment for this legendary band.

You can pre-order the album through Deathwish Inc. and Converge‘s Official E-store.

Swamp Thing Broke Up?

In a surprise, but not really, the awesome hardcore band Swamp Thing have broken up. The reason why is that the best hardcore bands tend to come and go. It sucks but it’s true, not to mention they rarely toured. On July 2nd the band had their last show which you can watch below. Their full length as well as their EPs are all fantastic and should be listened to if you’re into hardcore. You can still buy their stuff through Hellfish as well as iTunes if you’re into the digital thing. The video was done by Jeremy Ledford & Ian Hurdle. R.I.P. Swamp Thing

Deathwish Inc. To Release Give Up The Ghost (American Nightmare) Reunion Documentary

This past winter something happened that I never thought would. American Nightmare (Give Up The Ghost) got back together to play 2 shows at the end of this past December. Now whether or not they plan on pursuing the band can neither be confirmed or denied, but at the very least they are releasing a documentary for our viewing pleasure.

Now, from the trailer you can watch past the break, I can assume that a lot if not all the performance footage will be included as well as interviews with the band and all parties involved such a Chris Wrenn (Bridge Nine Records) and Jacob Bannon (Frontman for Converge and Co-owner of Deathwish Inc.) Let me say, for the record, that I couldn’t be more excited for this. American Nightmare was a big deal for me growing up and is still a big influence on me today. Now please, go and enjoy the 11 minute trailer.

 Ceremony Release Video For Adult

Rohnert Park, CA hardcore-punk act Ceremony have released their video for the single “Adult” off of their newly released full length Zoo. The video shows off a “white picket fence” suburban housewife who is clearly bored with her life. I must say for Ceremony’s music being so raw and dirty the video is quite awesome looking. [OMFG] Eight Year Old Girl Records Hardcore Song: It Kicks Ass

juliethxckid [OMFG] Eight Year Old Girl Records Hardcore Song: It Kicks Ass
On it’s way to becoming a viral video, eight year old Juliet has recorded a song with producer Rob Sharpe (YouTube page) that might just be one of my favorite hardcore songs ever. Certainly, the entire Australian hardcore scene has a very high set of standards now. Also, can I quickly mention how badass it is that she started a pit on a trampoline covered in her stuffed animals? Should I ever convince some woman to be stupid enough to spend the rest of her life with me and actually bear my seed, I hope that I pump out (hehe) kids as awesome as this. Check out the video below.

Retro Review: Converge ‘Jane Doe’

Ten years ago I was 14 at the start of my teenage years trying to figure out the person I wanted to be. I had already been raised on steady diet of independent punk and hardcore bands to widen my music palette, but nothing could prepare me for this album. This album has been beaten to death for the last ten years for changing independent music and rightfully so. So I would like to share with you my Retro Review with you on Converge‘s “Jane Doe“. Exclusive Interview: Josh Parks Of Former Thieves

A few weeks ago when I went to go see Defeater and La Dispute I had the privilege of catching Former Thieves open up for the show. It was my first time seeing them and I can easily say I was very impressed and made me even more excited to interview guitarist Josh Parks (he’s the handsome gentleman all the way to the right in the picture). Their first full length The Language That We Speak was released back in April of this year on No Sleep Records and to be honest it would be in your best interest to give the album a spin. With that being said read past the break for my interview with Josh Parks! Enjoy!

NOFX To Release 7 Inch Covering ‘Obscure’ Hardcore Bands

While at this year’s Bonnaroo Fat Mike of NOFX sat down and talked about his feelings towards events like Bonnaroo as well as NOFX‘s upcoming 7″ covering “obscure” hardcore bands including Rebel Truth and Necros. Converge Cancel Their Tour Due To ‘Serious Health Scare’

Converge has cancelled the remainder of their current tour as the result of a “serious health scare.” The band has issued the following statement:

“Unfortunately on our day drive from St. Louis to Austin, one of our members had a serious health scare. We rushed him to the nearest ER were he was looked at by some fine Oklahoma doctors. After a night’s stay in the hospital and a battery of tests we were able to have him discharged earlier today. We are now racing (quite literally) to make it to our show at Chaos In Tejas, albeit extremely late, to play an abbreviated set. Wish us luck.

“Because of this health issue, we are canceling the remaining few shows of this current U.S. tour so he can get home and get some medical attention asap. To those in Little Rock, Nashville, and Raleigh, we will add you to our list of places for make up shows later down the road.

Thanks to all of you for your continued support, it is appreciated by all of us.”

UPDATE: The affected band member is bassist Nate Newton.

Album Review: Touche Amore’s ‘Parting The Sea Between Brightness And Me’

The second Touche Amore announced they were writing/recording a new album, it instantly became the most anticipated album of the year for me. Did this affect their sophomore release for better or worse? Was the album worth crashing the Deathwish Inc. E-Store? Read past the break for my review of “Parting The Sea Between Brightness And Me.
