Review: ‘Harvest’ #4

Harvest is one of my favorite series coming out of Image in the past year. Not only does it offer a fresh idea of an intense, unexplored reality, but the art is mind blowing, packed with graphic imagery. In issue #4, story truly comes full circle from its first issue. A.J. Lieberman wove a comprehensive story line that seems to culminate with this book. With only one issue remaining in this 5-part arc, it’s no wonder this book takes it up a notch in its 4th issue with a fast pace story line, ample amount of bloodshed, and plot twists. READ MORE

Harvest has been working to up the ante in twisted gore filled horror, and issue #3 certainly keeps this book’s stock on the rise. Co-creators A.J. Lieberman and Colin Lorimer are spinning a unique tale about a rogue surgeon trying to regain his lost humanity. The third issue starts to bring the story full circle; we’ve seen the protagonist Ben Dane go from cracked out surgeon to under the table organ harvester, and now he is striving to become the unlikely hero. Review: ‘Harvest’ #2

After an outstanding premier issue, Harvest is back to continue exploring the seedy black market organ transplant industry, and by the looks of it, the industry is quite nasty. Though this issue lacks excessive amounts of graphic operations that its predecessor provided, it advances the plot with a few twists and turns along the way to set up a big third issue. The co-creators A.J. Lieberman and Colin Lorimer are pulling out all the stops in this dramatic horror melange. READ MORE

Review: ‘Harvest’ #1 Dark, Dirty, And Beautiful

People of BD nation, the moment you have been waiting for is finally here! A book with intense gore, a realistic and intelligent plot, and killer artwork. Harvest, from Image Comics’ creative team of A.J. Lieberman and Colin Lorimer, is a breathtaking masterpiece that entwines the sinister black market, organ collecting world with a drug addicted surgeon. While it is a tad preemptive of me to say, the first issue alone puts “Harvest” in the higher echelon of modern horror. Much like “Witch Doctor” last year, this is the book horror fans have been waiting for. READ MORE

Everyone has heard nightmarish stories about unweary travelers waking up in strange parts of the world with a stitch line across their stomach and a missing kidney. This is exactly the terrifying, seedy underworld that A.J. Lieberman explores in his new organ-stealing miniseries, Harvest. “Harvest” is set to debut on August 1st from Shadowline comics, and it follows the exploits of Dr. Ben Dane, who goes on a vengful organ harvesting rampage. Lieberman said about the series, “I had always wanted to do a really sick and twisted book and this world has always fascinated me, so it seemed like a good fit. Especially for the revenge aspect of the story, which ‘Harvest,’ at its heart, is.” After the jump you can check out a BD exclusive preview courtesy of your friends at Image Comics. READ MORE

Interview: AJ Lieberman On His New Organ Harvesting Horror Series ‘Harvest’

Earlier this month Image Comics’ Shadowline imprint announced AJ Lieberman and Colin Lorimer’s new horror book Harvest with a series if teaser images. Assembled together, the images formed one gatefold cover of a man strapped to an operating table being forced to watch as his own organs are stolen from his body by a demonic nurses with eyes sewn shut. The image is the equivalent of a lethal injection of terror, and left us desperately wanting more.

“Harvest” lands in comics shops in August and follows the story of Dr. Ben Dane, a drug-addicted surgeon that has his medical license revoked. Just when Ben thought things couldn’t get any worse he’s sucked into the world of illegal organ harvesting. As the series progresses Ben walks the tight rope between his addition and staying alive in a world filled with murder, violence and Yakuza enforcers who could strike at any moment. In a nutshell “Harvest” is the bastard offspring born out of a twisted 3-way between Dexter, ER and “100 Bullets”.

Bloody-Disgusting has had the pleasure of reviewing an advance copy of the first issue and it left us foaming at the mouth like rabid dogs for what’s coming next. In just one issue “Harvest” shows how terrifying horror comics can be.

AJ Lieberman jumped at the chance to sit down with Bloody-Disgusting to discuss the demented world of “Harvest”, and just how messy diving into the world of illegal organ harvesting can be. READ MORE
