He’s just been dug up, and attempts to reintegrate with his descendants, led by Michelle Pfeiffer’s Elizabeth and Jonny Lee Miller’s Roger – despite the fact that Angelique is still around and still not in a forgiving mood.

New 60 Second Dark Shadows TV Spot Makes You Cry Uncle!

Okay, Dark Shadows we know you exist! I’m actually not down on the movie – aside from he lame Alice Cooper joke – I have no real beef with any of the bus ads, character posters, standees, teasers, teasers for trailers, trailer, or TV spots. I’m actually kind of looking forward to this even though I’ve hated the last few Tim Burton films. But I’d say there’s a lot of awareness, wouldn’t you? Give those trailer cutters a break WB!

Remember just a few short weeks ago when we were worried that there might never be a trailer for Dark Shadows? How quaint those days seem now as we’re drowning in a deluge of footage. To go along with these 9 bus shelter posters, Warner Bros. Pictures has released another set of 9 one-sheets that depict all of Dark Shadows‘ colorful characters, along with the tagline: “Strange is relative.” I guess Barnabas Collins, played by Johnny Depp, isn’t the only thing bizarre in this modern take on the old spooky soap that featured gothic horror staples like vampires, monsters, witches, werewolves, ghosts and zombies.

First ‘Dark Shadows’ TV Spot Extremely Different Than Trailer

2darkshadowsgallery031512 First Dark Shadows TV Spot Extremely Different Than Trailer

It’s incredibly rare when I have a different reaction to a TV spot than I did with the original trailer. Frankly, I don’t recall it ever happening.

Warner Brothers used the NCAA tournament to unload their first Dark Shadows commercial, one that carries quite a bit of different footage than the film’s recently released trailer. In fact, it made me excited to see Tim Burton’s latest, which arrives in theaters May 11.

In addition to the below spot, we’ve also added a photo of a new theater standee that lets you become part of the family. Take a seat and snap a photo! You’ll also find a pair of new behind-the-scenes stills here.

Tim Burton’s vampire version of Austin Powers?

With the HD version of the trailer arriving this afternoon being uploaded as we speak (still), right now international press has landed 30 hi-res images from Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows, which can all be enjoyed by clicking any pictorial on display.

We’ve also just added the official one-sheet and proper version of the trailer, both of which are a bit hokey. I’m nervous that the film is trickling into “pop culture” territory with their (near) modern-day comedy. This could go very badly…

Trailer Premieres For Dark Shadows, Watch a Bootleg

“The Ellen Show”, yup, that’s the audience Warner Bros. is selling Dark Shadows to. Not us. The women who watch “Ellen.” Originally a highly atmospheric, spooky soap that featured gothic horror staples like vampires, monsters, witches, werewolves, ghosts and zombies, Tim Burton has put his spin on the tale featuring his typical cast of misfits including Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. With a release set for May 11, I’m starting to think we’re going to be highly disappointed with this film.

Johnny Depp’s Barnabas Collins Wants You To Be Patient In New ‘Dark Shadows’ Pic!

Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows could either be a glorious return to form or an even deeper retreat into his hermetically sealed safety zone. I haven’t been a fan of much of his recent work, but sometimes people needs to crank out a few duds before they remember why they loved making films in the first place.

So while the emerging imagery of Depp as Collins looks pretty cool, it also looks like standard Burton. Aesthetically, we know that’s what this movie will be. Let’s just hope the storytelling portion of his skill set is reinvigorated.

Is the Apocalypse Inevitable for ‘Akira’ Adaptation?

Is the Apocalypse Inevitable for Akira Adaptation?

Warner Bros. Pictures’ Akira, which has been through several incarnations, is being shut down in the face of casting and budgetary issues, says THR. The production offices in Vancouver are being closed, with below-the-line talent and crew told to stop working. “Everybody is being sent home,” according to an insider.

Producers, who include Appian Way’s Jennifer Kiloran Davisson and Mad Chance’s Andrew Lazar, will hunker down with director Jaume Collet-Serra for the next two weeks to iron out the script. It is unclear if Harry Potter scribe Steve Kloves, who did a pricey rewrite on the project a year ago, will be brought in to help out.

If the issues cannot be resolved, the project could end up being shelved entirely. More inside. READ MORE

Back in June we reported on a rumor that Alice Cooper may be taking a cameo in Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows. Now it seems that rumor has been confirmed by the man himself.

Per the LA Times, “Cooper was equally impressed walking through the huge, elaborate sets of “Dark Shadows,” the Warner Bros. film that stars Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Eva Green and Helena Bonham Carter and reaches theaters in May 2012. ‘They should take that set and make it a haunted house next year,’ Cooper said of the Pinewood Studios constructs that include a sprawling gothic mansion and a harbor city complete with pier and boats floating in an artificial ocean. Cooper plays himself in the film, which is set in 1972 – Depp’s character, the recently revived vampire Barnabas Collins, hires the rock star to play a private ball at his seaside home in Maine.

Tim Burton Slams Right Into ‘Dark Shadows’

After years of gestation, artist-turned-director Tim Burton is finally behind the camera for his adaptation of the British soap opera Dark Shadows, which heads a mighty cast. During an interview with TheWrap he explained that they’ve already begun filming some intensive footage while also really delving into the film’s “tone.”

It’s been hard to kind of come here because I’m just starting, and it’s a weird tone and it’s a lot of actors and, you know, we’re not starting with the simple stuff; we’re sort of getting right in there. You like to kind of sneak up on it a little bit, but this one we just kind of slammed right into it, he explains also talking a bit about the soap opera qualities. “Yes, I don’t know. I’m early into it because it’s a funny tone, and that’s part of what the vibe of the show is, and there’s something about it that we want to get. But when you look at it, it’s pretty bad. I’m hoping that it will be — it’s early days, let’s put it — I’m very intrigued by the tone. It’s a real ethereal tone we’re trying to go for and I don’t know yet.

He also confirms that Warners pic starring Johnny Depp, Jackie Earle Haley, Bella Heathcote, Cloe Moretz, Eva Green and Michelle Pfeiffer is NOT being shot in 3-D for its May 11, 2012 release.
