Hidden in the Woods (2013)

The pic focuses on Ana and Anny, two sisters whom have been raised in isolation under the atrocity of drug dealing and the incestuous obsession of their grim father. When they, tired of the abuse, call the police, he kills two officers and is put in jail. Free from their father, the girls now will have to escape from Tío Costello, the local drug lord trying to recover a large amount of drugs hidden in the woods.

‘Hidden In The Woods’ Goes A Little ‘Prometheus’ In New Poster

There’s now a poster for the Michael Biehn, Jennifer Blanc and Electra Avelan starring Hidden in the Woods, the Patricio Valladares-directed English-language remake to the Chilean horror film that made festival rounds last year. I actually sort of like its low budget charm, a lot of the Blanc Biehn stuff leans too much on the exploitation vibe in their promo materials, but this works for me.

Michael Biehn, Jeannine Kaspar, Electra Avelan, Mark Burnham, Jennifer Blanc, Richard Gunn, Caitlin Keats, Matthew Alan, Mark Gantt, Cheryl Hawker, Greg Ingram, Evie Louise Thompson, Grace Powell, Larry Carroll, Nick Nicholson, Jeremy JD Norton, Rebecca Torellas, Nick Bateman, Cody Hackman, and Luke Massy make up the full cast.

[BEST & WORST '12] Lonmonster’s List Of The Worst Films Of 2012

I’ve been following Bloody-Disgusting since way before I started writing for them. Being a critic has opened so many doors for me, providing the awesome opportunity to discover a world of horror that I didn’t even know existed. Unfortunately, some of that world is not so pretty.

Like any year, 2012 was host to some real stinkers. As a personal rule, I avoid trash-talking other people in the industry. I don’t like spitting venom at people I don’t know, especially young filmmakers who are still learning the tricks of the trade. But hey, I’m an emotional guy, and sometimes movies get the better of me. The films listed below don’t find themselves here simply because they’re bad, but because they genuinely made me angry. Artsploitation Acquires Gory ‘Wither’ and ‘Hidden in the Woods’

Artsploitation Films has U.S. rights to Chilean horror film Hidden in the Woods, pictured above, for a 2013 release, reports Variety. The deal was closed at the recently concluded Ventana Sur Film Market in Buenos Aires. The film had its world premiere at Fantasia Fest in Montreal earlier this year and also screened at FrightFest.

Patricio Valladares directed from a script he co-wrote with Andrea Calvaletto. “The story is set in the woods of an Appalachian-like area of Chile and follows two sisters, portrayed by Siboney Lo and Carolina Escobar, who escape from their sexually abusive father and find existence on the run just as perilous.

We can also add that Artsploitation acquired the awesome Wither from the Blood Runs Cold directors Sonny Laguna and Tommy Wiklund.

In the Evil Dead-ish gorefest, “Ida and Albin are a happy couple. They set off to a cabin in the vast Swedish woodlands to have a fun holiday with their friends. But under the floorboards waits an evil from Sweden’s dark past.” Check out some new art inside. READ MORE

[Fantasia '12] Michael Biehn To Star In Remake Of ‘Hidden In The Woods’

Patricio Valladares‘ Chilean Hidden in the Woods hasn’t even premiered yet! It plays the The 16th annual Fantasia International Film Festival on August 6th. But that doesn’t mean there’s not already a remake in the works! One that Valladares himself will direct.

Michel Biehn (The Terminator, Aliens) will star in and new version will be written by original writers and creators of the Spanish version of the film which was shot in Chile by Valladares and Andrea Cavaletto. Jennifer Blanc Biehn and Michael Biehn will produce. Production begins at the end of 2012 and will shoot on location in Chile. “I am thrilled to be working with Patricio – I’ve been waiting a very long time for a project like this to cross my path!” says Biehn. The remake will be a joint production for Valladares Films (Patricio Valladares and Evelyn Belmar) and Blanc Biehn Productions (Jennifer Blanc Biehn and Michael Biehn).

In the original film, “This raw slice of demented energy, inspired by true events, is the terrifying story of two sisters raised in forest isolation and subjected to torments from their abusive drug dealer father. When they finally report him, he chainsaws the two investigating cops to death and is jailed before he can tell psychotic drug lord Costello the exact location of his remaining stash. So Costello sends violent henchmen to find the missing merchandise hidden somewhere in the woods. Reaching heights of deranged frenzy unlike anything seen before, director Patricio Valladares is yet another exciting talent to emerge from the current hotbed of South American horror.

[Fantasia '12] More Dirty Horror ‘Hidden in the Woods’

The 16th annual Fantasia International Film Festival is gearing up to take Montreal by storm with three weeks of inspiration and thrills starting July 19 and running all the way through August 7. Yesterday we revealed the full Second Wave announement that included gems such as Sleep Tight and A Fantastic Fear of Everything. Now we’re revealing new imagery from a handful of titles…

Patricio Valladares’s Chilean Hidden in the Woods, which also screens at Frightfest in the UK, looks absolutely insane. While we’ve already shared a poster and image, we now have several new looks at the film that are rustic, dirty and bloody. I’m IN.
