Andrea Riseborough Becomes One Of The ‘Hidden’ After Outbreak

Andrea Riseborough (pictured below; Oblivion) is set to star opposite Alexander Skarsgard in Warner Bros.’ The Hidden, reports Variety.

As previously reported, Matt and Ross Duffer will direct from their own spec script.

“The project is an elevated horror-thriller about a family hiding in a bomb shelter after escaping a mysterious outbreak.”

Roy Lee, Mason Novick, Lawrence Grey and Richard Zanuck will produce; John Middleton and Sebastian Aloi exec produce.

WB acquired the Duffers’ spec late last year in a competitive situation. With Riseborough’s deal now done, the film should secure a greenlight shortly as one was contingent on getting its two stars to close deals. READ MORE

A few months back Warner Bros. Pictures purchased the spec script Hidden from twin brothers and recent college graduates Matt and Ross Duffer, and now they’re attaching some big name talent. Namely Alexander Skarsgard (“True Blood”, Straw Dogs 2011) – though there’s not yet any word in regard to who he’ll be playing.

Per Variety, ““True Blood” star Alexander Skarsgard is set to topline Warner Bros.’ ‘Hidden’, which twin brothers Matt and Ross Duffer will direct from their own spec script. WB acquired the Duffers’ spec late last year in a competitive situation. Deal contained progress-to-production language, indicating that studio was anxious to start filming, rather than allow the project to languish in development.”

That last sentence means we’ll probably be seeing this movie sooner rather than later. Hidden is “an elevated horror-thriller about a family hiding in a bomb shelter after escaping a mysterious outbreak.” Roy Lee (7500, The Ring, Pacific Rim, Godzilla), Mason Novick and Lawrence Grey will produce, while John Middleton and Sebastian Aloi will exec produce. In a competitive situation, Warner Bros. Pictures has purchased the spec script Hidden from twin brothers and recent college graduates Matt and Ross Duffer, who are also set to direct the pic that the studio is committed to starting as early as 2012, reports Variety.

“Project is an elevated horror-thriller about a family hiding in a bomb shelter after escaping a mysterious outbreak.” Roy Lee (7500, The Ring, Pacific Rim, Godzilla), Mason Novick and Lawrence Grey will produce, while John Middleton and Sebastian Aloi will exec produce.

I just hope it plays better than Anchor Bay’s The Divide, a film that I personally believe is a bit overhyped. READ MORE

AFM 11: Pretty Creepy New Hidden 3D Sales Art

Still seeking US distro (and already out in the UK) is Antoine Thomas’ Hidden 3D, which stars Sean Clement, Simonetta Solder, Jordan Hayes, Jason Blicker, and Bjanka Murgel.

In addition to old imagery and trailer, inside you’ll find some new art for the release that’s obviously NOT in 3-D (kinda hilarious the title stuck).

“The English-language horror/thriller begins when Brian Karter’s mother dies, he is surprised to learn that he has inherited The Sanctuary, home to her controversial experimental addiction treatment center. During a tour of the decrepit building with his friends and a mysterious associate of his mother, it becomes clear that something sinister lies beneath the surface. Despite their misgivings, the group follows a secret passageway underground and comes to a terrible realization: Brian’s mother built a revolutionary machine that cured people of their addictions but, as a side effect, caused those addictions to materialize in the form of mutant children hungry for human flesh, now living in the bowels of the abandoned building.
