Stone Sour Releases Trailer For Phil Mucci-Directed “Do Me A Favor” Music Video

Hard rock/metal band Stone Sour have released a trailer for the upcoming music video for “Do Me A Favor”, which you can watch below. The video was directed by Phil Mucci, whose video for Pig Destroyer‘s “The Diplomat” landed on my Top 10 Music Videos Of 2012. Mucci is constantly proving that he is one of the freshest, most innovative, and certainly most interesting music video directors of today. And after watching this trailer, I can say that I’m extremely excited to see what he does with Stone Sour’s material!

“Do Me A Favor” comes from Stone Sour’s upcoming album House Of Gold & Bones Part 2, which comes out Apr. 9th via Roadrunner Records. READ MORE

Anthrax Pick Replacement Guitarist For Upcoming Tours

Thrash metal legends Anthrax recently announced the shocking news that lead guitarist Rob Caggiano had quit the band, just a month before a heavy touring schedule was set to begin. However, the band also stated that they would not be hosting auditions for a new lead guitarist. The reason for that is now obvious as it has been announced that Shadows Fall guitarist Jon Donais will be filling in as lead guitarist while the band tours over the next few months.

Scott Ian states, “Jon is a bro and he’s also a total fucking ripper. I’ve worked with him twice before on side projects and he tears it up. I’m excited to have him on my right burning up the stage with Anthrax. 13′s gonna be a good year.

Donais adds, “I grew up on Anthrax, they’re the thrash scene, they’re one of The Big Four, I’d be crazy to not want to play with them. Initially, Rob called and told me he was leaving the band, and asked if I’d be interested in filling in. Then Scott called me and everything fell into place. Rob and I are using Skype to work on solos and other guitar parts, so he’s being great. I also have to give special thanks to my band – Brian, Matt, Jason and Ed – who have been incredibly supportive and encouraged me to do this.

You can see all tour dates that Donais will be on below. READ MORE

Headlining the Jagermeister stage will be another thrash metal titan: Anthrax. Slipknot’s Clown states, “Slipknot is headlining this summer’s Mayhem festival and it’s going to be unlike anything you’ve ever felt, sensed, or seen. You miss this, you miss everything. Daath Prepping For Worldwide Touring In Nov. And Dec.

One of my favorite metal bands of the past few years is Daath. I spun ‘The Concealers’ more times than I can count throughout late last year and the beginning of this year. Their track, ‘Wilting On The Vine’ still gets my blood boiling every time I hear it. So that’s why I’m excited to see that they are up to some really big plans for the rest of the year, including a new, self-titled album coming out on Oct. 25th.

Next, Daath will be touring the US with Chimaira and Impending Doom, all before heading over to Europe for a tour there with Fear Factory and High On Fire. You can check out the tour dates for those shows after the jump as well as comments from Eyal Levi.

Torche Release ‘Songs For Singles’: Offer Two Tracks For Free

After two years of waiting (im)patiently, today marks the release of Torche’s highly anticipated and already critically praised new album, Songs For Singles. The followup to 2008′s Meanderthal, Songs For Singles marks the next chapter in the band’s trajectory towards one big global bear hug.
To celebrate the release, both the band and the good folks at Hydra Head Records have chosen to give away not one but TWO new tracks off the new album, courtesy of your friends at Spin.com, and of all places, The Cartoon Network!
The Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim has launched a new compilation album, appropriately named Metal Swim, currently hosting a previously unreleased Torche track off Songs For Singles, entitled Arrowhead. And as previously mentioned, the Torche supporters at Spin.com have also been kind enough to host the new track Out Again, which you can grab off the front page of their website.
Finally, as if all of this wasn’t enough to make your Tuesday about 90% better than it might’ve been, Torche has announced another in-store performance in addition to today’s appearance at Park Ave CDs in Orlando, this time taking place on September 28th at Vacation Vinyl (Hydra Head’s Sunset Junction vinyl shop!) in Los Angeles, following their headlining show the night before at the Bootleg Theater, and officially kicking off their US tour w/ High On Fire and Kylesa. Positive vibes abound! We can’t wait!

Junius Announce Tour Dates

Boston-based shoegaze-rock phenoms Junius have been causing a major stir in the past few months. Following the release of their critically acclaimed full-length album, “The Martyrdom of a Catastrophist,” and being heralded by some of the country’s largest press outlets, the band repeatedly impressed audiences at this year’s SXSW marathon, helping to land them on two upcoming US tours which begin next week (one this month with rock supergroup Orbs, and the other happening this Fall supporting Volcom rock heroes Valient Thorr and Relapse Records’ newest and most brutal signing, Howl).
Now, just as they prepare to set off on months of non-stop touring, Junius have announced appearances at two of the year’s most renowned music festivals, Austin’s Fun Fun Fun Fest (sharing the stage w/ Devo, MGMT, Polvo, Man Man, Capn’ Jazz, The Hold Steady and more), and the other at Gainesville, Florida’s punk rock gathering, The Fest, where they’ll perform alongside some of the most worshipped acts in the underground punk scene including Frank Turner, High on Fire, Leatherface, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Teenage Bottlerocket, and countless others.
