[Podcast] 40oz. Of Horror EP 43: Chad Visits Eli Roth’s Goretorium And We Argue Netflix’s Original Series

We’re back from vacation. The 40oz. Of Horror Podcast was absent last week, but with good reason — Chad was MIA while visiting Eli Roth’s Goretorium. Is it worth the cost of admission? Chad has the answer.

Are Netflix original series worthy of marathon viewings? Chad and James go toe-to-toe and duke it out over original on-demand television — what is your opinion?

In WTF News, we talk about a company who will mail your enemies… well, something brown and smelly. And of course we have tons of horror news to catch you up.

Also, we must apologize for the drunken shitshow that was last episode. If you were drinking along, sorry for your hangover.

Danny Trejo, Bill Moseley, And Members Of Holliston Get Slaughtered By GWAR

Danny Trejo (Machete), Bill Moseley (House of 1,000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects), and actors from the TV show Holliston, including Joe Lynch, were tossed into a meat grinder during GWAR‘s performance at the Rock N Shock horror convention in Worcester, MA on Oct. 13th. Singer Oderus Urungus is a regular cast member of the show.

While there isn’t the usual waterfall of blood spraying out into the crowd, it’s still a fun treat to see these actors have such a good time. You can see footage of the brutal, senseless violence below. READ MORE

Production Begins On Second Season Of “Holliston”

FEARnet’s original irreverent horror-comedy series “Holliston” has started production in Los Angeles on a 10-episode order for season 2 plus a one-hour holiday special set to air at the end of this year. The entire cast, including music legends Dee Snider (“Celebrity Apprentice” and Twisted Sister) and Dave “Oderus Urungus” Brockie (GWAR), will be returning for the second season in the show created, written and directed by series star Adam Green (“Frozen,” the “Hatchet” franchise). This season’s highlights will feature an animated episode, as well as a hilarious take on the “found footage” fad, and is chock full of over the top special effects.

The talented cast features Green, Joe Lynch (“Knights of Badassdom,” “Wrong Turn 2: Dead End”), Laura Ortiz (“The Hills Have Eyes”), and Corri English (“Unrest”). Special celebrity guest stars in season 2 include Kane Hodder (“FRIDAY THE 13TH VI-X,” the “Hatchet” films), Bill Moseley (“The Devil’s Rejects,” “Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2”), Sid Haig (“Spider Baby,” “House of 1,000 Corpses”) and Danielle Harris (“Halloween 4 & 5”), among others.

Set in the small town of Holliston, MA, this offbeat series follows the lives of two friends (Adam Green and Joe Lynch), chasing the dream of becoming prominent horror movie filmmakers. In their pursuit, they struggle with financial woes and the opposite sex, while working at a local cable access channel where they host a late night movie show, “The Movie Crypt.” Snider plays the role of Lance Rockett, the Hair Metal-obsessed owner of the small cable company with dreams of Rock superstardom, and Brockie as Oderus Urungus, Adam’s twisted, closet-dwelling version of Jiminy Cricket who is always there to offer misguided advice and a well-timed insult. TV: “Holliston” Fans! There’s A Live-Chat With Cast And Crew Tonight At 7PM PST / 10PM EST

When I first heard about “Holliston” I wasn’t sure what to expect. I didn’t know if it was going to be an ongoing meta commentary about the careers of Joe Lynch (director of Wrong Turn 2 the upcoming Knights Of Badassdom and the even more upcoming Everly) and Adam Green (Hatchet, Frozen) or if it was going to be some weird “Family Guy”-esque string of horror non-sequiturs. Turns out it’s neither. As you may know by now, it’s 100% a sitcom. Not a documentary style half-hour comedy like “Parks And Rec” or a single-cam show like “Community”, but an old-school three-camera proscenium sitcom taped in front of an audience.

And it’s first season was enough of a hit that the cast and crew are prepping Season 2. In fact, tonight at 7pm PST / 10pm EST, the cast of Holliston will be conducting a live video chat from Season 2 rehearsal. Fans can chat directly with Adam Green, Joe Lynch, Corri English, and Laura Ortiz as well as Season 2 director Sean Becker and cinematographer Will Barratt as they show you an intimate look inside the ArieScope studio rehearsal space, answer your chat room questions, and discuss the upcoming second season which begins filming in just a few short weeks. Simply go to FEARnet to join in and take part in this fan event.

[News Bites] Udo Kier Becomes ‘Human Centipede’s German Surgeon? Slayer Wine, ‘Holliston’ Preview & Scorsese On Vamps vs. Zombies!

udokier040712 [News Bites] Udo Kier Becomes Human Centipedes German Surgeon? Slayer Wine, Holliston Preview & Scorsese On Vamps vs. Zombies!

Our weekend edition of News Bites begins with the unconfirmed news that Tom Six is looking to German acting legend Udo Kier (pictured) to replace Dieter Laser in The Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence), which has been delayed due to the clash between Six and Laser. An article back on March 29 revealed that Six would sue Laser, who played the evil German surgeon “Dr. Heiter” in First Sequence, of backing out of the final film. This news is unconfirmed, but will be updated as it becomes official.

A bit of fun came out of an interview between GQ and director Martin Scorsese. When asked about Twilight the director replied: “The vampire thing always works for some reason. Always works,” adding that he “happen to like vampires more than zombies.” When asked why, he replied, “Well, a vampire, quite honestly, you could have a conversation with. He has a sexuality. I mean the undead thing … Zombies, what are you going to do with them? Just keep chopping them up, shooting at them, shooting at them.

We also found a pretty funny article over at NME that’s just as cool as it is hilarious. The site reports that Slayer have become the latest band to announce that they will be launching their own brand of red wine. The wine, which is fittingly named ‘Reign In Blood’, is a Cabernet Sauvignon from California and not made out of the blood of any sacrificed animals. According to Classic Rock, the wine, much like Slayer’s brand of heavy metal, will have a “tough and uncompromising taste”. Sadly, it’s currently only on sale in Sweden, so you’ll have to order some specially rather than heading to the supermarket. You can find out more about ‘Reign In Blood’ at Brandsforfans.se.

After a string premiere, Fearnet has shared the following clip from the second episode of “Holliston”. Episode 2, “Camera Rental”, guest stars Bill Moseley, Ray Wise, and Parry Shen guest star, “Joe and Adam hire out the company’s camera to fund their horror film trailer – but the guy they rent it to vanishes! Meanwhile Corri and Laura discover their new apartment is haunted.” “Holliston” airs Tuesday nights at 10:30 PM on FEARnet. READ MORE

[Interview] Adam Green And Joe Lynch Talk Sitcoms, Horror Fans, And All That Is “Holliston”!

HollistonLand40212 [Interview] Adam Green And Joe Lynch Talk Sitcoms, Horror Fans, And All That Is Holliston!

When I first heard about “Holliston” I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I didn’t know if it was going to be an ongoing meta commentary about the careers of Joe Lynch (director of Wrong Turn 2 and Knights Of Badassdom) and Adam Green (Hatchet, Frozen) or if it was going to be some weird “Family Guy”-esque string of horror non-sequiturs. Turns out it’s neither. As you may know by now, it’s 100% a sitcom. Not a documentary style half-hour comedy like “Parks And Rec” or a single-cam show like “Community”, but an old-school three-camera proscenium sitcom taped in front of an audience.

While it’s a show made by, and in part for, horror fans – it’s worth noting that “Holliston” is concerned with more than just in-jokes and gory references (although there are plenty). The characters of Laura (Laura Ortiz) and Corri (Corri English) are featured almost as prominently as Lynch and Green, and the show has a lot on its mind in regard to relationships, disappointment, and the pursuit of “the dream”.

In advance of tonight’s premiere of the show, I visited the duo at Green’s Ariescope offices this past Friday. We chatted about a wide-ranging swath of topics – the show, Hatchet 3, Digging Up The Marrow and Lynch’s upcoming Everly – for about an hour and a half before Green and I sat down to watch some additional “Holliston” footage (and definitively conclude that “Mechanical Animals” is the best Manson record).

”Holliston” premieres tonight at 1030PM ET on FEARnet. If you don’t have cable, the show is available for purchase on iTunes 24 hours after the initial airing.

[Interview] Oderus Urungus Talks Holliston And His Sexuality

[Interview] Oderus Urungus Talks Holliston And His Sexuality
Just the other day, I had the chance to chat with GWAR frontman and leader of the universe, Oderus Urungus himself. We spoke about his upcoming role in the FEARnet original, Holliston, which follows directors Adam Green and Joe Lynch as they chase their dreams of being horror directors. Oderus has taken on the role of Adam’s imaginary friend and resides in his closet, coming forth here and there to offer what seems to be truly dreadful advice that should not be heeded.
Check below to hear this hilarious, uncensored audio interview which goes over topics such as Oderus’ role, what he brings to the set, and the answer to defining his sexuality. Is he gay? Is he straight? Does he look at planet Earth as some sort of large buffet? Find out below!
