[TV Bites] “Cult” Pulled From Schedule, Say Hello To SyFy’s Jamie Foxx Horror Anthology

CW’s “Cult,” which premiered on February 19th, has been pulled from the network’s schedule. Per THR, “The freshman dud starring The Vampire Diaries’ alum Matt Davis has been completely removed from the network’s schedule, according to program listings The CW released Wednesday.

While it doesn’t look good for the series, there’s always the possibility that the remaining episodes could be shown “on other platforms.” So maybe On Demand or iTunes? They weren’t clear.

In more positive news, the SyFy Channel has announced a new horror anthology series from Jamie Foxx. Yep. And he’s going to write, produce and direct 5 episodes of it. It doesn’t have a title yet, so I’m just going to call it the Untitled Jamie Foxx Horror Anthology Series for now. Per Deadline, it will be in the vein of “Tales From The Crypt” and “The Twilight Zone” and will be exec produced by Troy Miller “Flight Of The Conchords”.

[Book Review] ‘A Book of Horrors’ Yet Another Excellent Anthology From ‘Mammoth’ Editor Stephen Jones

With an output that includes an annual entry in the Mammoth Book of Best New Horror omnibus, as well as an ongoing series of Karl Edward Wagner collections (Walk on the Wild Side, Vols. 1 and 2), it’s a miracle that editor Stephen Jones had enough time to tag his name on yet another horror anthology. Perhaps that explains why he titled this new compilation A Book of Horrors, rather than THE Book of Horrors––when you’re an editor as prolific as Jones, each new anthology must seem like merely another bullet point on your resume. But considering Jones’ talent for selecting new fiction––along with a table of contents that includes heavy-hitters like Stephen King, Ramsay Campbell, Dennis Etchison, and John Ajvide Lindqvist–– this book comes equipped with a built-in pedigree that refuses to be ignored.

Since its original publication in the U.K. last September, A Book of Horrors has garnered Best Anthology nominations from both the British Fantasy Society and the World Fantasy Board, not to mention a host of nominations for several of the individual stories included within. Americans will finally get a taste of the action when St. Martin’s Griffin releases A Book of Horrors stateside this Tuesday. Additional details lie beyond the jump. READ MORE

With each director assigned a letter of the alphabet, they were then given free rein in choosing a word to create a story involving a tale of mortality. It’s an alphabetical arsenal of destruction orchestrated by some of the most exciting names in global horror including Ben Wheatley (Kill List), Ti West (House of the Devil), Jason Eisener (Hobo With A Shotgun), Adam Wingard (You’re Next), Xavier Gens (Frontieres), and Nacho Vigalondo (Time Crimes).
