Another big release week leading up to Halloween is here. Featured this week is More Brains: A Return to the Living Dead, which is the official four plus hours long retrospective on one of the best zomedies ever made. And if you have a touch of the sequelitis, both Hellraiser and The Howling have some brand new offerings for you to consider Ya know, if you’re a masochist who’s into that type of thing. Horror In Your House: September 20th, 2011

A whole lotta horror this week because, well, distribution studios are releasing a lot of films and this list is a combination of last week’s and this week’s releases (I was traveling). Last week saw the release of several Blu-ray classics including Halloween II, which caused much controversy when the producer’s credit was replaced by a corporate logo. Universal has said they will rectify the issue. So, if you were boycotting, are you going to hold out?

Also out, ChromeSkull: Laid to Rest 2, a movie with a heavy gore first, nothing else matters creed. My favorites of the week are the Blu-ray release of Wes Craven’s The Last House on the Left and the DVD re-release of ’80s cult hit, The Stuff.

Check out all the rest below and let me know what you are going to pick up. Have a good week!

Netflix Instant Horror In Your House: Sept 7th, 2011

Check out the recent horror releases along with the flicks expiring soon on Netflix Instant. With all the drama around Netflix lately involving price hikes and losing contracts with their major distributors, is anyone gonna stick it out? Personally, even with the price hike the service is more than worth it, but if there’s no decent movies available come February, well then, Red Box here I come. Or maybe I’ll try to find a video rental store. They still have those, right?

It’s a decent week for grabbing some favorites on Blu-Ray with the releases of DeadGirl, Final Destination 2 and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Three films I would love to have on my Blu shelf. And for those brave souls the latest Children of the Corn flick is available. Check out the rest of the releases below and have a great week.

Horror In Your House: August 15th, 2011

This week gives us Priest and The Ward; two bigger name films that had a ton of publicity, but didn’t go over well with audiences. Priest barely managed $30 million in box office receipts on a $60 million budget and The Ward, well, it never got the chance to fail at the box office.

In other news a Criterion edition of a Kubrick classic and season five of “Dexter” (the Julia Stiles one) are now available. Check out the rest of the releases below. Anything whet your appetite this week?

Netflix Instant Horror In Your House: Aug 11th, 2011

Alright, we’re back with the Instant horror releases for Netflix. And what a good week to come back. Italian film lovers will be delighted, as Netflix has struck a deal to instantly release a pile of Giallos and Italian greats from Argento, Fulci, and others.

Rutger Hauer and his trusty shotgun also are now available to stream along with that really, really, really awful (and hilarious) movie that centers on Rod, Natalie and .gifs of exploding birds. If you desire a little James Woods in your house you can watch him stick a VHS tape in his “new flesh”.

And finally, if muscle-bound super killers are your thing Vin Diesel can hook you up with his early 2000s sci-fi horror great. Lots of quality choices out there on Instant for horror. Now get to watching.

It’s Insidious release week! The years most successful horror film (in terms of dollars and awesomeness) is out on Blu-ray and DVD. Also out this week is [Rec 2] the follow up to one of Spain’s best horror films, and quite good in it’s own right. And, as usual, there is a spattering of low-budget and older films that just might whet your whistle. Check out the rest of the releases below and have great week.

Horror in Your House is back after a week break and there are plenty of good films to take home over the last couple weeks including Hammer Films release Wake Wood, a Bloody-Disgusting Select Rammbock: Berlin Undead and long lost slasher classic Bloody Birthday.

Hope you all had a great 4th of July weekend. I need another couple days to recover myself.

‘Siren’ Alarms Horror In Your House

This week’s release schedule is sans any big studio flicks, but there are plenty of old school choices and indie flicks to whet your horror appetite. The underground zombie flick from Chemical Burn, Defiled, has received plenty of buzz as a worthy tribute to horror’s days of old. The Italian Alien knock-off, Alien 2 On Earth gets the Blu-ray treatment (only God knows why), and there’s a zombie documentary exploring why America is obsessed with hot zombie chicks that features some big name interviewees. Check out the rest of the releases below and have a nice week.

Roger Corman’s ‘Sharktopus’ Swims Into Horror In Your House

It’s Sharktopus week everyone! Roger Corman’s latest B-horror flick is unleashed in Blu-ray and DVD formats today. And who isn’t excited for that? Well, I am anyway. In other news, not much in the way of “must have films” were released this week. Japan brings us an erotic vampire thriller by the name of Blood and a double feature of Gamera flicks. The one film I do have my eye on is Interplanetary, a wryly comedic alien monster movie that was made for about the price of a couple Beef `N Cheddars from Arby’s. Check out of the rest below.

Horror In Your House Invaded By ‘The Walking Dead’

This week is led by the release of season one of Frank Marshall’s Zombie television show “The Walking Dead.” It’s not just a good zombie show; it was one of the best shows on television last year period. Low budget horror also has a few decent looking offerings this week with the perverse and twisted The Abducted and a demonic love story titled The Shriven. Also out is a film about zombies on a farm, aptly titled Zombie Farm.
