Wet ‘Pacific Rim’ Image Reveals That the Kaiju Monsters BLEED!

“This is as close as you ever want to get to #Kaiju blood,” Warner Bros. teases in the latest pic from Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim. Kaiju are the monsters in the film, which are put to bay by giant robotos built by humans played by Charlie Hunnam, Charlie Day, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Robert Kazinsky, Ron Perlman, Max Martini, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Diego Klattenhoff, and Brad William Henke.

In theaters July 12, “When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. USA Today has preemed a handful of sweet new images from Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim, his giant monsters vs. robots movie in theaters July 12 from Warner Bros.

Del Toro is halfway through finishing the special effects but Pacific Rim is already “the only movie I’ve done where I don’t want it to end, frankly,” says the filmmaker (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth), who co-wrote the screenplay with Travis Beacham. And it won’t have to end for now: They’re already working on a sequel, as previously reported. The film is set in a future in which malevolent creatures threaten the earth, the planet must band together and use highly advanced technology to eradicate the growing menace.

There’s more than just that anomaly in the future world of Pacific Rim, del Toro says. “It’s really creating a world that’s been shaped by two anomalies: the giant monsters and the giant robots we create to fight them.”

‘Pacific Rim’ Images Need Less Talk, More Do

Warner Bros. has released a yet another still from Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim… but again, don’t expect to see any robots or monsters in it. While the trailer does tease one of the giant creatures, we could use more action-packed imagery, instead of pics of people standing around talking. Yawn.

Go Behind-the-Scenes Of Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Pacific Rim’

New new issue of Empire Magazine in the UK has four new looks at Guillermo del Toro’s epic sci-fi adventure Pacific Rim, which is “Set in a future in which malevolent creatures threaten the earth, the planet must band together and use highly advanced technology to eradicate the growing menace.” A SuperheroHype member scans the stills.

Charlie Hunnam, Charlie Day, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Robert Kazinsky, Ron Perlman, Max Martini, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Diego Klattenhoff and Brad William Henke all star.

Del Toro recently stated that the battles in the film will take place everywhere, “We take the battles far and above! Two or three of them happen in places where there have never been a battle between kaiju and robots. From the bottom of the ocean to the atmosphere of the Earth. We have a battle in a storm at sea. Every battle we try to do differently. One is seen from the point of view of a single person. We never cut away from that point of view.”
