Amaranthe Stream New Song “Mechanical Illusion”

Swedish/Danish melodic metal band Amaranthe has released a new song entitled “Mechanical Illusion”, which you can stream below. The song comes from the band’s upcoming sophomore album The Nexus, which will be released in the US on Mar. 26th via Spinefarm Records.

Guitarist/composer Olof Mörck comments, “To give a second taster of The Nexus is truly exciting! The first single and title track showed a familiar, yet amped-up AMARANTHE. ‘Mechanical Illusion’ is quite different from what people have heard from us so far. Probably the heaviest track yet, a dystopian vision steeped in a darkened futuristic atmosphere, combined with a mega-catchy chorus that is likely to ring in your head for days. Brace yourselves, the illusion is upon us!

You can also watch the band’s video for “The Nexus”, which was directed by Patric Ullaeus (In Flames, Soen, Dimmu Borgir), below. READ MORE

Detroit metal band Battlecross will be entering the studio next month to record the follow up to 2011′s Pursuit of Honor. The band will record the album in Audiohammer Studios in Florida with producer Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, Trivium, Devil Driver).

Hearing the new music has only solidified that feeling. Working with our good friends at Metal Blade and bringing great new music to the masses is what it’s all about.

Amaranthe Announce Release Date Of Second Studio Album ‘The Nexus’

Swedish hard rock/metal band Amaranthe are gearing up to release their sophomore album The Nexus, which was produced by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Dreamshade & Ginger Wildheart). The album will be released Mar. 26th in the States via Spinefarm Records.

Guitarist Olof Morck states, “The moment has come to let loose The Nexus on an unsuspecting world! This time we went all the way with our futuristic dream-nightmare – a no-compromise vision steeped in deep contrast between the mechanically ultra-heavy and shimmering serene melody. The Nexus is everything we dreamed about doing with our debut album; we laboured to make this offering as diverse as it is direct and catchy… and remember, no-one can be told what The Nexus is – you have to hear it for yourself!

You can watch a video for their title track, which was directed by Patric Ullaeus (In Flames, Dimmu Borgir), below. READ MORE

Czech Police Finish Investigation For Lamb Of God Singer Randy Blythe’s Case: Recommend Indictment

Czech police have finished their investigation into the death of 19-year old Daniel Nosek, who died after sustaining injuries at a Lamb Of God concert in Prague in 2010. LoG singer Randy Blythe was arrested earlier this year on manslaughter charges and was held in Czech jail for a month and a half. He was ultimately released on bail and made a statement in which he said he will return, if needed, for a trial.

In the final investigation report, Czech police have recommended that Blythe be indicted and return to Prague to stand trial. According to INDES.cz, Prague City Prosecutor’s Office Štěpánka Zenklová stated that this decision will be made “…by the end of November,” after the team has had time to review the case and the facts.

In an interview after his release, Blythe stated, “I feel ethically responsible to go back there and face this charge. [The victim's] family right now is in a lot of pain, and they deserve some answers. To lose a child is the worst possible thing a human can go through, I think .. I want my name cleared. I have to go around the world and tour, you know. That’s what I do. I’m not going to hide here. I’m an innocent man. I’m going to go to court and see what happens.

Once again, this issue may interfere with Lamb Of God touring plans as the band will be on the road in December alongside In Flames and Sylosis. READ MORE

Lamb Of God Announce Fall Headline Tour

Lamb Of God has announced the first full headline tour since Randy Blythe’s incarceration and subsequent release from a Czech Republic prison. Direct support will come from In Flames while Hatebreed will tour from Oct. 30th through Nov. 19th at which point Hellyeah will take over the remaining tour dates. Sylosis has been confirmed as the opening act on all dates. This will be LoG’s first US tour in support of their album Resolution (review).

While I’m still a bit disappointed that the LoG/Dethklok/Gojira tour wasn’t able to take place, I’m pretty thrilled with this lineup! I’ve seen Lamb of God twice as well as In Flames twice and they both put on one hell of a show.

I.N.C. ‘Fist Of Fascista’ Music Video Is Awesome

I’m a sucker for animated music videos. There, I said it. Claymation, animation, CGI, etc…, I love ‘em. So when I saw this video for I.N.C.‘s Fist Of Fascista, I just had to share it with you amazing readers. Put together by More Frames (the same lovely folk behind Lamb Of God‘s Ghost Walking video), the video mixes performance footage of the band with fascist imagery and children being taken over by…well, why don’t you just watch the video below!

This track comes off the band’s latest album, Heaven Sent…Hellbound (iTunes), which came out last August via Candlelight Records and was produced by Fredrik Nordström (At The Gates, Opeth, In Flames). READ MORE

[Interview] Anders Fridén Of In Flames

[Interview] Anders Fridén Of In Flames
Easily one of Gothenburg metal’s biggest names, In Flames is a band that constantly evolves and redefines their sound to bring the very best in melodic metal. Their latest album, Sounds of a Playground Fading (review), was met with critical appraise and is an album that I personally put on frequently. So it was with great excitement that I got to sit down with singer Anders Fridén at the Royal Oak Music Theatre during their headlining tour with Trivium for a quick chat. Ex Opeth Drummers Soen Releases Video For Savia
Soen, the band featuring ex-Opeth drummer Martin Lopez, has released an official video for Savia, which comes off their upcoming debut album Cognitive. Directed by Patric Ullaeus (In Flames, Dimmu Borgir), the song definitely has some Tool-esque vibes while dipping its toes into heavier territory. Another song, Delenda, can be heard on their Facebook page. I’m definitely enjoying the songs and I’m really looking forward to hearing the rest of the album. Check out the video below.

In Flames Drop Off Rockstar Mayhem Tour

In Flames has had to cancel all remaining Rockstar Mayhem Energy Festival tour dates due to an illness in the family. It sucks because I was really looking forward to seeing them again (the last time I saw them was when the toured with Chimaira and Soilwork). However, I fully understand the need for family to come first. Therefore, best of luck to the In Flames family and I wish for all the best.

Check after the jump for a message from the band regarding the situation.

Album Review: In Flames ‘Sounds Of Playground Fading’

With a history as long and celebrated as In Flames, each new album is met by fans with great expectations and high hopes. “Will it be as good as The Jester Race or Clayman?” “Will it be something weird and a total deviation from what I’m used to?” Well, considering the fact that In Flames have been releasing studio albums since 1993, it’s impossible to ask them to stay with one sound. First of all, it gets boring for the listener and, second, musicians can’t be pigeonholed like that. Progression and expansion are a natural part of life as well as music. So it is with In Flames 10th studio release, Sounds of a Playground Fading. But does this expansion and progression work? Check after the jump.
