Full Moon Casting ‘Zombies vs. Strippers’

Full Moon Casting Zombies vs. Strippers

Director’s intern on Puppet Master vs Demonic Toys, Full Moon is giving Alex Nicolaou his big “shot” by tapping him to direct Moon’s forthcoming Zombies vs. Strippers.

Hoping to capitalize on the success of previous films such as Zombie Strippers and the forthcoming Werewolves vs. Strippers, the screenplay follows colorfully inept inhabitants of a strip club in the lousiest beach slum of Los Angeles. The strippers can’t quite grasp that their crummy little bar has become the last bastion of survival in a spontaneous zombie apocalypse.

Shooting begins April 9. READ MORE

A Glimpse of Bigfoot On Latest ‘Lost Coast Tapes’ Poster

First announced at AFM back in November comes from New Breed Entertainment and director Corey Grant, The Lost Coast Tapes, starring Drew Rausch, Ashley Wood, Rich McDonald, Frank Ashmore and Noah Weisberg.

A cynical investigative journalist and his documentary team travel to a remote cabin to debunk a Cryptozoologist’s claim of finding a dead Bigfoot, but their film quickly becomes a record of their life and battle against an unseen horror.

The first piece of art was pretty impressive, reminding me of the one sheet for Frozen and Open Water. A second has just debuted. Keep up with the film on Facebook. READ MORE

‘Terror of Dracula’ Inspired By Original Story

Based strongly on Bram Stoker’s original story comes Anthony DP Mann’s Terror of Dracula, arriving on April 3.

Terror of Dracula is a co-production with American producer/co-writer Bill Bossert, heavily based on Bram Stoker’s original classic. Co-written and directed by Anthony DP Mann who stars as Dracula along side a cast of local theatre actors, the film was shot guerilla-style on a modest five-figure budget. Yet the DYI filmmaking approach certainly didn’t deter the Mann/Bossert duo from delivering a legitimate feature film that successfully competes with big-budget Hollywood motion pictures in quality and storytelling. The film will definitely have audiences rekindle their love for the original character of Dracula, and will leave them with a feeling of nostalgia for monster movies of an era past.

While primarily filmed in Kingston’s Fort Henry, one of the oldest cities in the North-America region, the décor, quite exceptionally, seems to come right out of Transylvania subsequently adding a degree of fear and terror already provided by the directing. The horror purists will recognize the spirit exuded by the first European adaptations of the 1930s – keeping a much welcome retro feel to it.

[Tribeca '12] A Look At ‘Resolution’, A Film That Defies Genre Classification

Rat King, Replicas… with Tribeca horror features, it’s usually pretty difficult to get a full flavor of what the films will be like, as they are often world premieres or shrouded in some sort of secrecy. That being said, there is still one film on my radar that I’m looking forward to covering for sure, and that is Resolution, directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Scott Moorhead.

Michael is committed to getting his best friend Chris to sober up and put his life back on track. But what begins as an attempt to save his friend’s life quickly takes an unexpected turn as the two friends confront personal demons, the consequences of past actions, and forces beyond their control. Expertly balancing dark humor, heart, and thrills, Resolution is an utterly unique cinematic experience that defies genre classification.

The drug dealer violence / detox slant looks like it makes for some good tension, but with the synopsis saying that it defied genre classification – I got wary as to whether or not this was something BD viewers would want within their horror realm. I contacted newcomer Justin Benson and asked him what we might expect. READ MORE
