Norwegian prog-metal band Leprous will be releasing their new album Coal on May 28th in N. America (May 20th in Europe) via InsideOut Music. The band has just revealed the album artwork, which was done by Jeff Jordan (who had done the artwork for 2011′s Bilateral).
Commenting on the artwork, the band states, “The artwork for this album was a hard nut to crack. We wanted something dark, melancholic but with a distinct character. We tried several solutions without finding the perfect supplement for the music, before we decided to contact Jeff Jordan once again. Jeff immediately had wonderful ideas that we decided to pursue. The artwork of ‘Coal’ is in my opinion the most iconic we’ve had so far.”
In regards to their upcoming video for “The Cloak”: “A new Leprous video is in the making! We spent one very long day inside the Konnerud Hill Mines here in Norway, getting some very interesting footage. The video, just like the clip for ‘Restless’ on our previous album, was made by Twitchy Films once again, but we promise you no fish or cake was harmed this time around. A dark, moist atmosphere, far into the deep…”

Hailing from Poland, Riverside have been putting out consistently great music for many years now. It’d be nearly impossible to define what category of “prog rock” they exactly fall under, but that’s what make them stand out from the crowd. They are one of those bands that have such a unique sound that it is easy to immediately identify them, an increasingly rare talent these days.
So upon receiving a copy of their new album Shrine Of New Generation Slaves, I knew I was in for something special, something that would challenge me. But have they delivered once again or did they fall fail to live up to their past greatness? Read on below for my thoughts! READ MORE
Polish progressive rock band Riverside have released a creepy music video for “Celebrity Touch”, which comes off their upcoming fifth studio album Shrine Of New Generation Slaves (out Jan. 21st). The video is a nightmarish look at how the celebrity lifestyle can destroy a person, mentally, emotionally, and physically. As for the song itself, it’s a really fun mixture of classic prog stylings with modern twists. Check it out below.
Polish progressive rock band Riverside have released a teaser trailer for their upcoming album Shrine Of New Generation Slaves. The video includes snippets of two songs: one unknown and the other being “Celebrity Touch”, which will be getting a music video. The first track started off sounding almost like “My Sharona” while the second track sounds like something from Pain Of Salvation‘s Road Salt One.
The band has also released a behind-the-scenes photo from the “Celebrity Touch” music video shoot. The band is posed around several people that have gauze wrapped around their heads. It’s actually slightly spooky, so I’m curious if this video will have a dark side to it. Check it out below. READ MORE

Polish progressive rock group Riverside have announced Shrine Of New Generation Slaves as the title of their upcoming fifth studio. The album will be released Feb. 5th, 2013 via InsideOut Music.
Vocalist Mariusz Duda explains, “In 2012 we’ve been focusing on the work on the new album, and trying to prove, mostly to ourselves, that we can still surprise with something, and what’s most important – create an album that would become our showpiece, music-wise and lyrics-wise. The title might sound a bit intricate, but the acronym [SONGS] will definitely explain what we did with our music this time.”
I used to listen to these guys all the time. I still pull out their debut album Out Of Myself quite often. Songs like “OK” and “I Believe” are fantastic. READ MORE
Easily one of the hardest working and most eclectic musicians today, Devin Townsend is a whirlwind of musical thoughts and energy. Each release of his is something out of this world, an auditory journey that never reveals the ending until the last notes fade away. Basically, I’m a huge fan.
In anticipation of the release of By A Thread: Live In London, two more video clips have popped up. The first is “Awake” from the Addicted album. Guest singer Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gathering) was at the show and the combination of her and Devin’s vocals are unbelievable. The second video is the title track from the Ghost album. Both are below for your viewing pleasure.
By A Thread: Live In London came out today and is available for order here. Devin Townsend will also be co-headlining the “Epic Kings & Idols” Tour with Katatonia. Support comes from Paradise Lost. Check out the tour dates below. READ MORE
