Clive Owen Thriller ‘Intruders’ Dated For Home Video

From visionary filmmaker and Academy Award nominee Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later), the super weak psychological thriller Intruders (review) comes to Blu-ray, DVD and VOD July 17th from Millennium Entertainment.

Though no one can see him, Hollow Face lurks in the corners, desperately desiring love but only knowing how to spread fear and hate. He creeps into the life of John Farrow (Owen) after Farrow’s beloved 13-year-old daughter Mia (Ella Purnell) is assaulted in their home. The line between the real and the imaginary blurs as fissures start to open within the family unit. It seems that no security measure can keep Hollow Face out.

The story of two children living in different countries, each visited nightly by a faceless being who wants to take possession of them, Intruders stars Academy Award nominee Clive Owen (Closer, Killer Elite, Children of Men, Inside Man) along with Carice Van Houten (TV’s “Game of Thrones”) and Daniel Brühl (Inglourious Basterds). Bonus features include a “Making Of” featurette and “Inside Look,” a behind-the-scenes look at the film. READ MORE

Release Dates For ‘Intruders’ and ‘Jack & Diane’

Release Dates For Intruders and Jack & Diane

One of the worst films I’ve seen in 2011 is 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s (unintentionally) faux supernatural horror film Intruders (review), which premiered at the TIFF this past September. Starring Clive Owen, Daniel Brühl, Carice Van Houten, Pilar López de Ayala, Ella Purnell, Izan Corchero, and Kerry Fox, Millennium Entertainment has landed on March 30, 2012 as their U.S. release. “‘Intruders’ centers on an 11-year-old girl who is forced to confront childhood demons.

In other release news, the Bradley Rust Gray-directed werewolf flick Jack & Diane, which stars Juno Temple, Riley Keough, Cara Seymour, Dane DeHaan, Michael Chernus and Kylie Minogue, will open in theaters June 1 via Magnolia. “The film follows Jack and Diane, two teenage girls, who meet in New York City and spend the night kissing ferociously. Diane’s charming innocence quickly begins to open Jack’s tough skinned heart. But, when Jack discovers that Diane is leaving the country in a week she tries to push her away. Diane must struggle to keep their love alive while hiding the secret that her newly awakened sexual desire is giving her werewolf-like visions.READ MORE

[Review] TIFF ’11: Psychological Horror ‘Intruders’ Falls Flat On Its Face

Directed by 28 Weeks Later‘s Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, and starring Clive Owen, I thought Universal’s creature feature was going to be a no-brainer. Unfortunately, Intruders makes the same mistakes as dozens before it, a third act that may as well been “all a dream.”

What begins as a masterfully crafted creature feature ultimately falls flat on its face knocking out all of its teeth…If you’re able to overlook a sh*t finale, and over used CGI, ‘Intruders’ is still a pretty OK film loaded with some freaky imagery and ghostly attack scenes. It’s sort of a psychological fairy tale that may deliver enough punches for a home video audience.

Lots of Stills of Clive Owen Standing Around in ‘Intruders’

An image gallery has finally been released for 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s Intruders. The film, arriving in Spanish theaters October 7, looks like a cross between The Strangers and The Last Exorcism.

Fresnadillo’s psychological horror revolves around an 11 year-old girl (Never Let Me Go‘s Ella Purnell) dealing with the childhood demons that reappear to spook the heck out of her and her family. Clive Owen stars as her father, alongside Kerry Fox, Carice van Houten and Daniel Brühl. Intruders is written by Nicolás Casariego and Jaime Marques.

What’s Already Inside Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s ‘Intruders’ Trailer!

The good folks over at Empire have just premiered the trailer for 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s Intruders.

While the trailer is crappy quality, and the audio appears to be off, the imagery is quite striking and makes me think this is a cross between The Strangers and The Last Exorcism (the handheld work is pretty strong).

First Look at Clive Owen in Clive Owen Starrer ‘Intruders’

Last year Universal Pictures quietly went into production on Intruders, 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s horror flick that centers on an 11-year-old girl who is forced to confront childhood demons.

Starring Clive Owen, Daniel Brühl, Carice Van Houten, Pilar López de Ayala, Ella Purnell, Izan Corchero, and Kerry Fox, those were the only details given.

Out of the Malaga Spanish Film Festival where Fresnadillo put the trailer on display, he recently told THR: “The film centers on the origin of the monsters that are born in childhood and are passed on by the family. Clive looks like a normal man, even heroic, who has a range that can take him to do the dark side and allows him to travel the entire trajectory of the character.

While Uni has yet to release anything here in the States, inside you’ll find a link to a few behind the scenes shots prepping for an October release in Spain. It’s also kind of funny to watch Fresnadillo “pose” in every image.

While that’s even a bit vague, it’s still better than nothing. I quite enjoyed 28 Weeks Later and am excited to see what else he can deliver.
