Caitlín R. Kiernan is known for her outstanding work in dark fantasy/scifi fiction, but she also dabbles in horror comics like the Sandman spinoff The Dreaming. Not to mention a few hundred other stories…Dark Horse announced today that Kiernan will be kicking off her first ongoing title this April, Alabaster: Wolves, which focuses on a female teen who has been battling monsters for as long as she can remember. As you should well know by now, the infamous CROSSED is getting it’s own ongoing series beginning this March. The all-star creative team of Garth Ennis and Jacen Burrows are bringing you one of the most intense, bloody, and insane horror books out there. Each arc will take travel to a new place in the world, following a mass pandemic that turns the population into nutty psychopaths who would make John Wayne Gacy proud. This is not one to miss. There is something that is always appealing about samurai and the point in Japan’s history that takes place immediately before guns took over. This is the setting for Dark Horse’s new comic titled, The Immortal, and it works perfectly. As with all good samurai stories lots of blood and guts are involved, as well as … heart eating demons? Ok, Heart eating demons may not be a staple in other samurai tales, but it works nicely for The Immortal.

Joshua Luna is making his solo debut as both writer and artist next week with his brand new series, Whispers. Joshua Luna is best known for collaborating with his other half, Jonathan Luna, and together they have created some of the most alluring supernatural drama comics out there. Whispers follows a young man with severe O.C.D. who discovers that he has the ability to manifest himself as a ghost while he dreams. Monocyte is a densely gothic work of science fiction that will grab you by the throat and refuse to let you go until the last page. For a book that seems to intentionally disregard all major tropes in mainstream comics today, it is without a doubt a book that will find a large number of fans, and deservingly so. After issue #2 it is certain that IDW has another hit horror book on their hands, one that brings something completely novel to the table, one that works adamantly to re-imagine the horror genre. It’s bleak, dark, absurd, complex, poetic, and it remains steadfast in its use of elevated language and beautiful artwork. Chris Roberson has had our hearts for a while with I Zombie, and he’s about to bring us on another wild adventure into a supernatural world of fantasy, lost memories, and magic. The Strain is based on a series of vampire novels written by none other than the cinematic master Guillermo del Toro, and Chuck Hogan. Anyone who knows del Toro’s work knows his love for horror comics, and it’s about time one of his works were adapted to comics. Fittingly so, David Lapham takes the honors of adapting the tale with Mike Huddleston by his side on art duties. The story begins in the past as an old grandmother tells her grandson the tall tale of a spooky giant who will come to get him if he doesn’t eat his greens, swiftly switching right into the present. Somehow, some way, the past and present are interconnected, and some age-old evil is about to show its heinous face.
