Relativity May Have Found ‘The Crow’!

Relativity’s The Crow may have found its Eric Draven. With James McAvoy tied up in the currently filming X-Men: Days of Future Past it appears as though Tom Hiddleston (pictured above; The Avengers) is in talks for the role.

Per The Wrap, “[he] is in early discussions to play Eric Draven in Relativity Media’s reimagining… Hiddleston recently had dinner with producers and sent them a makeup test that he did on his own in London. He will undergo a proper makeup test in the coming days, as the character’s appearance is important to fans of the franchise, who should be delighted with the casting of a major member of the Marvel universe.

The film is the latest adaptation of James O’Barr’s revenge comic from 1989. F. Javier Gutierrez is still attached to direct. It seems that Cliff Dorfman (Warrior) is now tackling the screenplay. No word on how much of earlier writer Jesse Wigutow’s draft is making it in. Brandon Lee made the franchise famous when he starred in the 1994 adaptation directed by Alex Proyas.

Speaking to Heat Radio, McAvoy listed off the cast of the upcoming X-flick: “You got me, [Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender,] Nicholas Hoult will be back, and he’s just blossoming massively over [in America]. Patrick Stewart, Ian Mckellen, Halle Berry, Alan Cumming, Peter Dinklage I hear mentioned – I don’t know if that’s happening – “Huge” Jackman is coming by, he’s massive, 7’5″ and muscley.” Check out the interview below. James McAvoy Responds To ‘The Crow’ Casting; Isn’t Materialized “Yet”

Back on February 25 we reported that James McAvoy, who blew our minds as Charles Xavier in X-Men: First Class, is circling Relativity’s long-gestured remake of The Crow. We pointed out that McAvoy’s role in X-Men: Days of Future Past could effect his ability to take the role, and that nothing had been set in stone.

Getty Images in the UK was able to reach McAvoy for comment: “It’s not for real,” he told the site. “I don’t think it’s materialized into anything truthful yet… it’s just been rumour mill stuff.

I would like to point out that McAvoy specifically uses the word “yet” – and that’s because he’s still in the mix for the role, says our sources. As always, actors will dance around the questions until something official hits ground running. Let us not forget that Mark Wahlberg confirmed our previous report that he was in fact in the running to star as Eric Draven in the modern day take. Same source. Same facts.
